I watched through _Buffy_ and _Angel_ for the first time during the COVID lockdown this year, and literally finished _Angel_ up earlier tonight. I absolutely adored both shows and am already planning to rewatch them in the near future.
And honestly... I thought the _Angel_ finale was ballsy, subversive... and ultimately appropriate. It left me with my jaw practically on the floor.
Sure, they could have shown the final battle. We could have seen our heroes succeed in defeating the evil or seen them go down in a blaze of glory or any other number of outcomes. But it really didn't matter in the context of the episode or the series at large. As everyone always points out, one of the biggest themes of the show was that the war between good and evil never ends. Angel and the others dealt a major blow to their enemies by taking out the Circle of the Black Thorn, but there was still work left to do. Ending it with our heroes in an alleyway staring down an advancing horde of demons and monsters... not knowing if they'll make it out or not... it just felt like the ultimate way to express that theme. It's not a cliffhanger really, so much as a purposely open ending. And an open ending like that was perfect for _Angel._

I was devastated when that ended like that but it’s cool to see their perspective ! ❤

To this day, the final episode remains one of my all-time favorites.
But it's true though. I mean, does the fight between good and evil ever end? Never. Besides, the finale itself was a nice way to end 'Angel'. And it shows. I honestly love it. The remaining members of Team Angel fighting against a mass army of demons sense by the Senior Partners. So cool!

It is the emptiness of a thing that is used. Emptiness is key to great poetic form. This epic ending was truly poetic.

Still wish we would have got a season 6. Would have loved to have seen where they planned to take the story if the show wasn't cancelled.

With Supernatural going into its final season whats better than Angel Season 6 to replace it. Would be AWSOME!!!

I mistakenly didn't get into Angel until season 5. So the ending, to me, was trash. I decidedly to buy the DVD's and watch the whole series and by the time I get to the last episode again, my opinion did a 180. I fucking LOVE the ending from that point forward. It's all about fighting the good fight, no matter the odds.

Nope! She was hot then, and she was hot now. I want to be a bacon in her cheeseburger. And sometimes I just can't stop staring at her legs. 😂😍😋🔥🔥🔥

Even though the ending was pretty good I would at least wanted to know who actually won if they didn't die trying to fight or I would have liked it Buffy and the Slayers to come out of nowhere enjoying the fun I just left me in dispense to try to figure out exactly what it was that happened at least I will liked it that's Spike would have turned human because in the end Angel gave up his right in the prophecy and only one vampire with a soul would have turned human I don't know this shit ending just left a lot of openings for a new show who knows Connor might make a show about him and I like the fact that he's learning how to be a lawyer and on top of that he went to school for Harvard University who knows we really won't know

Yeah, like when Darth Vader was like, "Luke, there's something you don't know...Obi-Wan told you I killed your father, but..." and then they just faded to black. Always better when you don't actually show the resolution, but just leave it to the audience to imagine. (sarcasm)
