    Hey man! I’m a serious aspiring recording engineer/producer and just on the hunt for a pro tuner for my studio. I my timing needs are essentially pretty basic. I just wanted to ask, have you tried the Korg PitchBlack Pro rack mount? So far I’m trying to decide between the pitch black, the DTR 1000 and 2000 and the DT 1 and 2. Any recommendations or one you think would be the best in terms of stability and accuracy? Also, with the audible tones on the DT-1, can you do like say weird in between notes? Or does it only do A / A flat / A Sharp, B, B flat , B Sharp etc?

      After many years of having all of these and lots of them....the DTR 2000 is the clear winner. I sold off everything else and only use these.

    Scott, I'm sorry to go off topic here, but I need your expertise. A guy I work with has a Univox Acrylic Dan Armstrong copy Made quite a while ago. He took it to a Luthier Wanting the slanted floating rosewood bridge replaced with a more modern hard stop bridge with saddles. The Luthier told him not to do it because it would "De-Value the guitar? would a Copy of a famous guitar made roughly in the same time period really be valuable in any way? or should he be able to get the bridge he wants?

    • @groovydjs
      @groovydjs  9 лет назад

      Thomas Stacey Here's the God's honest truth. The Luthier is correct. It will make the guitar worthless pretty much. But, the guitar is a piece of crap to begin with......but worth a LOT OF MONEY. They are horrible guitars, but that model is worth a good used car. So, he can do whatever he wants with his guitar, it's his......so, there are the facts.....so, knowing all of that, I would ADVISE him to sell it with a starting price of a grand on eBay, then buy a guitar that he actually likes and have a lot of money left over.

      groovydjs Thanks For the advice scott. Very much appreciated. (I told him what you said and I don't think he's going to change the bridge now)Also thanks for the great tax day deal I've been wanting to know all you country guys secrets :) I will use them wisely. And my Grandfather will look down on me and be proud that I finally learn the music he always played when I was a kid. Thanks again

    Great Scott, any tips on building your own guitar, like through Warmoth?

    • @groovydjs
      @groovydjs  9 лет назад +1

      ***** Yes.......Don't use Warmoth. lol Simple reason.......wood is wood and those suckers charge more for wood than anybody in the world.

      groovydjs Too true! saw a video by another guy on youtube who spent $1200 just on a strat body from them. I got myself unsubscribed from him at supersonic speed.

    • @groovydjs
      @groovydjs  9 лет назад +1

      CJ99 W Yeah, then they go on sale on eBay and try to charge for what they have into the damned thing. A year later, it's still listed and the price is down to $300.00 and they still can't sell it. Reason......IT'S A SEMI-CUSTOM THING WITH ONE PERSON'S IDEA OF A PERFECT AXE. EVERYBODY ELSE WILL THINK IT'S RETARDED. lol

      @CJ-rf9jm 9 лет назад

      groovydjs Yeah I've seen that, even seen a few faked out fender style bodies being repainted in nitro then fake reliced going for huge amounts. I just cant see spending rediculous amounts for a used guitar (or parts) that've been through some bdsm club.

    It would be nice if it went a bit lower for Baroque-pitched instruments.
