Buddhists believe that there were 04 great foot prints of 04 Lord Buddhas who visited to SL from India by time to time. As the Top foot print belongs to Gauthama Buddha. People who visit there at their first time they make that thread thing as a line from some certain place to another place called Idikatupana and believe they will have a safe hike up and down and also they do not forget to ring the bell informing how many times they visit there. Which means those who came there at first time use to ring the bell once and if 02 times rings twice likewise. Wish you Safe journey in SL. Cheers 🤗
So amazing to see you educate yourself before you go to that place..thats smart! And also please stay far away from the main cities in future few days cuz there will be some uncomfortable moments...but enjoy the upper country and nature as much as you can.. be safe! Thanks once again ! We are winning the protest !
Thank you for this beautiful video! I hope you get the chance to come back to fulfill your goal of experiencing a beautiful sunrise at a near future date. I completed this pilgrimage last week for the first time and it was a beautiful experience. Luckily, I got a panoramic view of the mountains disturbed only by a few cloud’s & dealt with less people traffic. However it did take me about 5:30 hrs to get to the top, so kudos to you on the impressive timing.
It's a holy pilgrimage site from Ancient times to local budhist. Old days these are thik jungles. And before elderly climb the peak they do wrote their last will. Because they were not sure of their return. But this area is belongs to sabaragamuwa province of Srilanka. This areas deity God is SUMANA SAMAN ,GOD SUMANA SAMAN HAS MAKE A PROMISE TO LORD BUDDHA HE WILL TAKE CARE OF EVERY SINGLE PILGRIM WHO VISITS THIS HOLY MOUNTAIN. CLIMBING SEASON START FROM DECEMBER TO MAY. Rest of the year is rainy season for this area. Most of Srilanka s rivers starts from this mountain range. After Srilanka became a colony of british for easy reference they call it Adams Peak, and the Indian tamil people were brought to Srilanka to work in tea fields late 18th century & early 19th century they were Hindus. They call it shivas foot print. Budhisum is very tolerant philosophy. So any body can claim anything as they wish. In 20th century Muslims too started climbing saying its s foot print of the same adam holy Bible and holy quran refers. But from Ancient times to date only budhist Shrines remains on top of the Peak. Have a safe and happy journey Much Love ❤ from Sri Lanka 🇱🇰
