Two of my favorite youtubers in one video - it's like when they have both Batman AND Superman in one movie! You both are so inspiring and such great teachers, thank you for all you contribute.

I relate with Derek so much. I actually asked him before for business side of freelancing so I'm glad you did a video with him.
Freelancing is really a very misunderstood thing. There's a huge difference between work you find on upwork and finding clients on your own through networking. Usually when I talk to friends, they think I want that upwork freelancing!
Freelancing is truly a whole business. Portfolio is only the start of it, you need to have more skills than just 3d skills. And I agree with Derek, handling all the other aspects of freelancing results in you not being able to experiment and explore more 3d related stuff. I think that's why if you have a good friend who is more skilled in business and networking part, it'd be more beneficial for both of you to become business partners because that way you only have to care about 3d stuff and he'll handle the business stuff. But I also understand that not all people have that kind of opportunities so they work alone. I know I do.
I'm in the "rice and beans" phase of my freelance business right now haha (ngl i do like rice and beans tho), hard to find clients, make bare minimum to survive and spend more time on my brand awareness until I run out of money.
Anyway, nice interview :)) I just discovered your channel through Derek and I'll definitely check out your videos as well!

Very interesting conversation, thank you !!! I’m a gift designer learning blender on the job. I am using blender to create product visualizations for our clients. I’ve watched both of your tutorials, thank you!!
When I showed my boss the third client project that I created on Blender, he said “How did you do this?!” ☺️
