yeah I remember Mike Coe racing the new watercooled 250r's in 86 sleeved down to 200cc for that class.
If I remember correctly mike was so fast on the sleeved down 200cc that he would race in the 250 class and still win with it.

This isnt just one race, they must have edited two motos together into this video because Coe has blue pants in some parts and red pants in others, including the interview at the end...I know Coe was fast but not fast enough to change pants in the moto and still win! Great Vid!

My brother Darrell Chapman used to race in Florida and won the Grand Nationals in San Antonio in the 80s, maybe around 83 or 84. He rode a Honda and his number was always 00. If there is any video out there of that race could you let me know?

These races were the perfect mix between motocross and flat track, sad so many goons ruined three wheeler sales who couldn't ride them properly. Quads were boring to ride and watch by comparison.

@KARLish33 Mike Coe didn't stop ATC racing in 1984. And yes, this was the last year of the Airfooler being produced by Honda - but - a lot of non factory racers continued to use their well tuned Foolers well into 85. Some for money reasons and others just went with a 'if it aint broke ..' way of thinking. By 1986 pretty much everyone had converted over though.

i saw an old poster add that had eddie racing a custom suzuki atc. it had no info on the motor or the frame, i saw the pic on a suzuki quadracer website but i cant find the link but i definitely was a atc, had a 2 stroke pipe, and had suzuki on the tank, and the article had his name on it.

Honda was experimenting with watercooled technology at this point. Visit airfoolers website for more info and pics of these early prototype water cooled heads.

There were 200cc 2-strokes back then...they were just simply sleeved down ATC250R's & KXT250 Tecate's though (but they were still pretty fast though!).
