    I just watched the first Nashville SX, Eli won, and it was all very exciting and whatnot. If this race had been on simutaneously, I woulda stayed on this channel. Maybe its the bikes being so much more lightswitch esque, or under developed, the tracks having less timing sections (or whatever you want to call them) or such a huge amount of great personalities twisting the loud handle WFO, This era of SX and MX was the best.

    It’s great to see how it evolved from the early seventies, you could not even find it on tv , wow all the big stars back then , now they have bike haulers worth millions and the riders make millions of dollars, it’s cool to see chuck sun still riding in Idaho, all these guys were our heroes , sad that mike bell passed, thanks for putting this out I was 20 back in 1980 and a huge fan and watch every Moto sense to today

      @@DADSGETNDOWN not sure about evolving? How so? The bikes are more powerful and faster and jump way bigger jumps. This sport like every other sport is evolving except maybe LaBron James. He still sucks. Maybe Tennis too. That sucks.

      Yep.hard to believe there was a day when huskies,maicos,cz’s,bultaco’s and montesa’s ruled mx and the Japanese brands weren’t in the picture.but such it was. Bailey started off on bultaco due to his dad’s longtime association with the Spanish brand. He was picked up by team green for ‘80 & ‘81. Decoster signed him to Honda and the rest as they say , “is history”. Wonder if kaw lamented letting him go. He and Jeff ward would’ve been unstoppable.

  • @user-yc9pr8en3t

    Man you can see the differences in track layout and design. The riders are doing a lot of flat landing off the jumps. That's got to be tough! You don't see that now-a-days unless the rider screwed up The jumps are not laid out in a way they can double them. You must give these old guys credit.
    Back in the day I used to live by Marty Tripes and he was cool and had a million trophy's in his house.
    I used to race a Elsinore 125 and Jeff's Wards father would complain to the race officials and throw a fit every time I beat his son. You could just show up and pay a non membership fee and they would give you a paper plate with a letter on it. You would tape that over your number plates and race for the day. I didn't have a father to spoil me like Jeff Ward. lol

    Now that's a well thought out comment. "Those old bikes sucked and the suspension blowed". Thanks for pointing that out master of the obvious. There's not a lot of motorsports equipment or components of any type or form from 35 years ago that wouldn't "suck or blow" compared to what's available today. So why in the world would anyone say that?

    Jesus, look at the Yamahas with the Wishbone Swingarm Monoshocks...LOL, those chassis were originally designed to run to rear shocks & they designed a wishbone shaped swingarm to make it 1 shock in place of 2 & it worked out for them (luckily for Yamaha, LOL) but if you look at the Honda's in this race they have the modern Linkage single shock rear suspension

    It's interesting in this ERA; where the jumps started getting bigger but the guts to double and triple them were few! LOL, I guess it took a few too many FLAT landings to figure out it was easier on your body to land on the down side of the next jump.

    • @MotoXplor
      @MotoXplor 3 года назад

      The jumps weren't timed to make doubles back then. There were only a few places that it could happen. Now everything is timed to double, triple and even quad. Notice that there aren't banked turns everywhere either.

      Apples & Oranges. I’m a 3rd Degree Black Belt. Bruce Lee is the Great-GrandMaster of Jeet Kune Do, the discipline of Martial Arts which he developed himself. All this _Mixed Martial Arts_ shit you see today… _Jeet Kune Do_ is where it *STARTED* (first originating in a fight Bruce Lee had in San Francisco in 1964 against Wong Jack-Man, if you watch the movie _Dragon: the Bruce Lee Story_ it’s the fight portrayed in that movie where Bruce Lee walks up to a place with his African American Student who says “this guys a killer; a couple guys tried to rob him last year, the guy who was unarmed went to the hospital, the guy with the knife…went to a Funeral Home!!” & Bruce beats the fuck outta the guy, then says “I’ll teach whomever wants to learn” and then Wong Jack-Man attacked Bruce Lee as he was walking away (breaking Bruce’s back in doing so) …then the movie’s portrays him dictating _Tao of Jeet Kune Do_ to Bruce Lee as Bruce recovers in a Hospital. Well, Bruce’s injury really was a result of a Workout gone wrong…
