actually, Kundasang is still in Ranau district. Just for clarification. Lots of ppls not really know or care about that, but as a proud Ranauian I do care. you need to explore our beaches, islands, forest, taman kinabalu, unique animals etc. have you ever eaten 'tarap'? its local fruit.
Welcome to Sabah my friend. Do enjoy yourself as Sabah got so many places you can explore and experience. I'm one of Sabahan native (Kadazan), welcoming both of you with open heart. Aramatii..
2:38 Glad you like the purple rice, Steve. We have it too in Sarawak. 😀 It's probably a Bornean variety found on the island... What you're having is a local rice... harvested, milled, cooked and served. Fresh rice. 13:41 That's a praying mantis... maybe a juvenile. Or a tiny variety. The beetle at the end of the video feeds off wood. It's a very magnificent beetle I always love to watch if I happens to come across one while in my kampung.
Are you climbing Mt Kinabalu..?? If not .. just try climbing sosodikon hill before sunrise or take a break at Hounon Ridge Farm.. at Bundu Tuhan (near Kundasang)
As always, Steve, you are such a good History narrator. As for that sky biking, thumbs up and good job, lvana. You still give it a try even though you are scared of height. Oh gosh, Steve with that snake !! An interesting fish spa...wow, the fishes there are very big. Steve, the bridge builder, good job. Boleh bah, kalau Steve 😂🤣 Well, epic drone footage and again, another awesome vlog. Thanks for sharing.
Hi.. Both of you.. Is me Amir from Selangor, Malaysia..how are you.. Have a nice vacation n trip.. Pls enjoy your holiday.. Take care both of you.. Both of you are so wonderful plus amazing couples..
I would do flying fox anytime on top of that platform, but yo! Skybike! That's really on the next level of extreme 😅 Shout out to Steve and especially Ivana for being very brave on that scary ride!
Another beautiful video. It was a pleasure to watch. By the way I was doing a fish spa and we had 50 small garra ruffa fish (the size of a finger on my hand) in the aquarium. You sit on the two-seater above and put your feet on, and then they suck on a dead skin and take it all off. But these your fishes are so big . Well done to Ivana for overcoming her fear of heights. And the beetle is so scary, i would run out of the room :) Kisses from Serbia.
Hey steve & ivana♡.. tq guys for sharing the beauties of Sabah🪴🌱🌿🌴 im really entertained to see all your awesome vlog especially at kampung area 😋 good day guys!🤗
The red/brown rice you can find in both Sabah & Sarawak..... it is recommended for those having diabetes and/or those who want go away with white rice which has too much starch.....
Wilayah Sabah, is one of the place that I eager, to visit (because I haven’t visited some places yet in Malaysia, such as Negeri Pulau Pinang, Negeri Kelantan, and of course Wilayah Sabah, and others), as a vacation, when make a planned vacations to Malaysia 🇲🇾, and fortunately I remember that, I already Visited Negeri Selangor, Negeri Sembilan, Wilayah Sarawak, and Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur, and Wilayah Persekutuan Putrajaya, all of these place that I have been visited, is more than enough to make me understand Malaysia, much more, greeting from Pontianak city, West Borneo Province. 🇮🇩🤝🇲🇾
To clarify, in Malaysia, we only had 3 Wilayah which is Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur, Wilayah Persekutuan Labuan & Wilayah Persekutuan Putrajaya. When it comes to Sabah & Sarawak. It is a state (Negeri). Not Wilayah. Salam from Sabah (Negeri Di Bawah Bayu) 🥰

Steve and Ivana with balls of steel 😱 on the bike and a little history about the war especially the ANZAC (Australia, New Zealand Army Corps) is one of the main force that fight Japanese army during World War 2 in Borneo. Hence, we people of Sabah are truly grateful to them. Even my school name and was build on a army base for ANZAC. My school name is SANZAC (Sabah, Australia, New Zealand Army Corps) Note: Sabah & Sarawak are not state. It's actually a country. Yes, we're county.
I’ve been to Wakayama Japan. The Japanese has a relatively smaller shrine for the same incident. It’s a painful memorial on both sides and serves a good reminder never go to war again.
Ivana is so brave on the sky bike - super crazy!!! Giler ba😅🤣🤣🤣🤣 Fish spa is another level of crazy 🤣🤣🤣🤣 such a giant fish 😅😅😅🤣🤣🤣 luckily you both still have your leg intact 😅🤣🤣🤣🤣
Actually the Canadian did fought against the Japanese during the battle of Hong Kong, began in December 1941, just two days after the attack on the Pearl harbour. The major Canadian units involved in the defence of Hong Kong were the Winnipeg Grenadiers battalion and the Royal Rifles battalion of Canada. They were the first Canadian soldiers to see action in World War II.
Great, now i want sabah tea greentea ice cream...tasted it last year but completely forgot about it until now...guess i can just drool till the next visit

3:53 Actually British Malaya is referring to the Peninsular Malaysia(West Malaysia). Sabah was known as the North Borneo(later changed to Sabah when they formed Malaysia with Malaya & Sarawak in 16th September 1963). And Sarawak at that time was the Kingdom of Sarawak(1841-1941) which was ruled by the Brooke Dynasty. We only became a British colony in 1946, until 1963. Both states were British protectorates. 13:33 That's a baby Praying Mantis.

Thank you for showing respect to the British and Australians honoured there. I've seen some awful tacky disrespectful videos of the Memorial. Thank you for your appropriate behaviour. By the way the 6 who survived had escaped from the camp and were harboured at great risk by locals. And this story is unknown in Australia, how appalling is that. I've just read the true story Death March of Sandakan and will be there in 3 weeks.
It still baffles me how the imperial soldiers back then could be so "creative" when it comes to their punishment. Inhumane, as you said. Even in death (or near death) they won't allow you your dignity. Tales of their cruelty still sounds like hyperbole due to how outlandish they are, except it is well and consistently documented everywhere not just in Malaya and Borneo, but also other places, with Nanking taking the most unfortunate cake. You'd think they were only that way with the Allies given their propaganda slogan is "Asia for Asia" but even the civilian Malays (their target recruit for that campaign) been telling stories like being force-fed water by pipe, and have a plywood laid on top of you, only for the Japanese to stomp on you when you became visibly bloated. Such a contrast to current overly polite Japanese society we have of today, which makes it all the more baffling.
