The Rusty Lake/Cube Escape collection is another lore-filled puzzle game series that I would LOVE to see you play on the channel!

YES! I’ve been waiting for someone to mention it. I’ve loved Rusty Lake/Cube Escape for a very long time, and I feel like Matpat would really enjoy it. I get not doing a theory since there’s so many games out at this point, but I think a lot of them would be short enough to do in a big gtlive episode
I'm so glad someone mentioned it! I've been thinking they should do it for a while such a good collection for something that can be played on mobile.

The Moncage actually consists of deep and complex lores. The concept of the game is actually fascinating, and understanding them is engaging and entertaining at the same time.
An interesting game with lore and puzzles is "The Room" series there are 5 games, one is a VR one, and there is lore, mystery, and interesting puzzles. It is essentially an excellent escape game with a twist.
we got the vr one for my mom because she had just gotten shoulder surgery and it is awesome

My personal opinion: the intro song is the embodiment of everything that’s great about this channel, I agree with the comments that it just give us a warm feeling. Nostalgic-tastic.

Mirror Matt should be part of the intro. I think it would be cool if you let the community try and make a new intro. I think the community is very creative and many have made intros in the past and think they would love to try.

If you like this kinda game, you'll probably enjoy the "The Room" series of games, by Fireproof Games. In order, they go: _The Room, The Room Two, The Room Three,_ and _The Room: Old Sins._
Those games are really great. And the lore is fantastic too.
He could play The Room VR: A Dark Matter too, or as standalone for a GTLive episode

The theme song is too iconic and memorable to be changed. I would like mirror mat to be added to the intro though
I hope they continue this game. It's a really neat and thoughtful little experience, and a nice change of scenery from the horror genre. Also, I feel like the song should definitely be kept BUT, maybe, update it. Have Ryder reimagine the song and give it a fresh coat of paint. Kind of like what Rhett and Link have done for Good Mythical Morning.
30:30 as a kid who loved garbage trucks, I remember being fascinated by like how the garbage was thrown in and then like the Monster in the back of the truck would eat some of it and stuff. I liked mechanisms like that. Same thing with the Bowling alley replacement pins thing

Man, as someone who is really good at these visual puzzle games, this was almost painful to watch at some parts, but so so cathartic when they finally figured it out lol

Personally, I would like to see a new intro in the style of cheesy 90s sitcoms where it's just a montage of Mat & MirrorMat palling around & goofing off together. The theme song could be more chill to better match GTLive's current vibes.

Mirror Matt has shown up ONCE that I can recall: a blink-and-you'll-miss-it mad dash across the screen (just his torso) as he ran to get some merch for the opening merch shill lol. They could use that for the opening :D
Also, I love that they still play the intro every time instead of having it added in post lol.
"What's in the sky?" is the energy I have every GT live when MatPat skips something I, personally, feel is important. The amount of times I've whisper-yelled at my phone like this...I feel you, Mirror Matt, I feel you.

Seconding _The Room._ I'm currently about a third through the third game. Very interesting stuff.
house of da vinci was so glitchy for me though and the hitboxes were funky, The Room games were all really smooth in comparison (idea wise house of da vinci was nice tho, I've yet to play the second of that)
I’ve honestly never LOVED the intro, but mostly based on the visuals
If you want a game like this i really recommend the cube escape series! Jam packed with cool lore and the community is super into theory-crafting!

No the game has the best portion in my opinion because it still has that talking but it has that figuring it out
i know how much you love puzzles Mat, so if you're interested there is a mystery adventure game full of puzzles in a three part series with a bit of LOOOORE in it to give you a little plot. Its called The Room from Fireproof Games, and its a bit of like an escape game. the first game game is very short in my opinon and the games get progressively longer throughout the series and its even got a VR side story. the first game is free, but you will have to pay about $5-$7 for the next instalment, but it is so worth it for the incredible experience. There are so far four games in total, i think the fourth being a prequel, Its very well made and has cutscenes that look like they belong in movies. Its one of my favoire games becuase Im like you, i like to use my brain to solve situtions. this isnt a sponsor or anything Its just a just a shoutout to a wonderful game that came make you think a little bit. its available for mobile and PC on steam and its elements feel a lot like a horror game becuase the atmosphere is so spooky. The developers are still working on more games i hope, but im very curious if there could be a theory as to what the cult in the game is up to?
if you like lore in a game.... The Room series is rich with backstory and is so beautiful to look at, let alone play.

At 20 minutes in I was infuriated that they didn’t guess to use the wheal, reset only the bottom, then re align it. Like a crank wrench.
I was looking for this comment. I was just sat here growling in frustration that he can perform the same interaction again, by using the lever while it wasn't synced, then making the wheel spin again in the same direction. But because he took so long, he found the LORE which I appreciate. And when he finally got it, after having Mirror Matt hold off on telling him, it was such a relief and so much better about the dopamine of him solving the key he was missing.

It really reminds me of that old game monument valley- the puzzle solving style really gives me nostalgia
There is a game called ,,Tick Tock a tale for two" it's a very hard puzzle game, a little bit similar to this. It's a 2 player game but actually you can play it yourself It's short but really hard so it may took some time it took me 223 minutes(don't ask how I know it). It has A LOT of lore! I really suggest this game to you it's amazing!!! It's very cheap on steam. Bye! Maybe you will make a theory on it?

I have to say, this game's matching machanics reminds me of the game superliminal (a game I've recently played and saw you once played). Also it's also the same kind of idea of "perspective is reality" which I love.

If you're interested in other puzzle games with lore I'd suggest The Room series and all of the Rusty Lake games! The room feels kinda like this, where you're opening a box in each of the games but there's a lot of play on using this spyglass to see the box differently
Rusty Lake is just a very fun arg/escape game series with some really weird lore involving immortality and time travel, and with a new game coming out later this year it'd be a great time to take a look at everything leading up to it!

Matpat talking about game design kinda applies to myself. I thought I had to learn C++ and take all these coding classes to make a game but it turns out Unreal Engine has blueprints and you just have to learn what each blueprint does individually and how to connect them together to make them function the way you want. One hour later on RUclips and my character can interact with objects and open and close doors. That's how accessible game development is becoming.
the music in moncage is made by one of my favorite game music artists, berlinist, they made the music for Gris. very happy to see matpat play this. He should also play Gris, thatd be cool
You know what game this reminds me of? GNOG. You solve puzzles in different... robot?? heads, and keep switching between different heads. They sing a song when you complete them... it's been a while, so I don't remember it exactly. It reminded me of Polly Pocket. I would love to see you play that, MatPat, if you haven't already.
I knew Mathew would be the only one to stop and focus on the details. Really awesome game. I still don't know the full story yet but i like what I've seen.
I would love to see MatPat play The Room 1 - 4 games, not only is it a great puzzle game but there is also a hidden story to it too. If you love this game, then you will love The Room.

I would love to see you guys play The Room series. It’s a really cool puzzle game series with a creepy atmosphere and an interesting story. It’s one of my favorite puzzle series and I never see it get any attention on RUclips.
