There won't be a Saturday upload this week since I'm getting my new GPU coming in! Also I've finally started Ultimate Raiding after putting it off for so long, and HOOO BOI IT IS FUN. I hope you're all having a great day, and eating a bunch of great stuff!

Honestly I have ran tanks before so a tip for a defense cooldown for tank busters is to pop you magic reduction as from what I understand correct me if im wrong tank busters are primarily magic based

So this is a tricky one since the game doesn't really have a way to tell you if it's magic based or not. It's pretty much on a fight to fight basis depending on what you're doing + what Yoshi P feels like, which is the main reason Dark Mind on DRK is super iffy. So for this tier of savage (E9-E12), the majority of tank busters were physical. But in something like TEA, I believe most of the big hits are actually magical which makes DRK's Dark Mind really great in that fight. Forr UWU I believe it's split between Physical and Magical (Mainly for Ultima). Now luckily everyone has access to a 20% CD (Rampart) and a 30% CD (Shadow Wall/Sent./Nebula/Veng.) So the cooldown usage is pretty equalized across the board.
Overall for ShB i'd say majority atm are physical tank busters, but Endwalker might change physical/magical tankbusters completely and just simplify it to one damage type just to remove issues like Dark Mind on DRK, or the addle/feint issue.

Yea and on with like when you say start small I would also suggest to maybe also start with the starter tanks Warrior and paladin since they start from the beginning of the game and I think would help best at getting use to playing tanks as one of the major mechanics in the game is the ability to switch classes on the same character since I know for a fact that all 4 tanks play very different from each other in terms of skills and looks. So I would suggest maybe to not only go for your what you want to look but what kind of play style you want to be as a tank.

@@arthursmith5189 Yeah usually when I suggest tanking to new players 100000% WAR+PLD are great starting classes to choose.
WAR is super simple to play, has the best CD buttons that are straight forward, and has a nice skill ceiling when approaching endgame content (9 times out of 10 you'll be forced to pull first which makes you learn cool downs/tanking real fast)
PLD is also really simple to play, but now introduces A LOT of party utility (Intervention+Veil+Passage of Arms), and while it's rotation is very strict and set in stone (FoF>Req>FoF x repeat), this leads to a lot of fight to fight optimization that feels realllly good on PLD.
Anddd then we get to the expansion tanks which I don't think are good starting points for completely new new FFXIV players which aree
DRK who everyone memes about how good TBN is, but it is actually on the weaker side of the short cooldowns + the punishment for not popping is very extreme. Rotation is 100% not straight forward at all compared to PLD/GNB/WAR as well, since it's a 60s loop of oGCDs + 10k MP but you have to figure it out (No damage buff window like FoF/NM/IR). Once you get it down though, this class is really simple but you do have to keep your eye on your MP. Also in fights where magical TBs are present, Dark Mind is REALLY good. Downside, in dungeon content Living Dead is functionally useless (but so is holmgang tbh).
And then my main throughout all of ShB GNB:
GNB I 100% do not recommend to new tanks for A LOT of reasons. The biggest one is ping. If your ping is too high, I would really suggest not playing this class because it's 24/7 double weaving. On top of that, it's a tank designed as a DPS so you have all the high CPM of a DPS class, but you have to still do all the roles of a tank. That makes it super overwhelming to new tanks since there'll be a lot of times where you will sit there clipping GCDs + your CDs if you're not already used to the playstyle. But on the rotation side of tanks, GNB is probably the most versatile out of all 4 tanks with a clear guide of Gnashing Fang, Sonic Break, Bow Shock, Blasting Zone, all lining up with No mercy every 60s.
Overall, IMO GNB is definitely a tank that you have to stick with for a long time to get really good at, but the pay off is realllly good (Has really great CDs/damage).
Now for my raid preference on what I play, it's usually:
      GNB > PLD > DRK > WAR
And the only real reason TBH is that GNB+PLD+DRK use DH melding, but WAR uses DET melding. GNB+PLD perform virtually the same in terms of damage output + have great party utility (HoL+Veil/Passage). DRK is my last choice for the DH tanks since TBN is great but when it doesn't pop on autos, it's 100% pain. And WAR is actually my favorite tank from how simple and effective it is. But I just don't want to change my melding out of laziness LOL.

I transfered recently to Aether (came from crystal) I wish I could do the savage and ultimates but sadly I can never find a group to play with

Ohhh if you're looking for groups for savage, I recommend joining a random FC and seeing if they run it since that's a pretty fast way to make some friends! Other options are the Balance Discord, and using the recruitment chat (I see a LOT of new fresh Savage/Ultimate) or reddit's /r/ffxivrecruitment. I used FFXIVRecruitment and found my current Ultimate static where we just started last week and they're all pretty chill!
Edit: Also best advice I'd say for savage/ultimate group finding is, don't pay attention to logs but pay attention to the general group vibe + how well they do mechanics. There's no shame in jumping from group to group if they don't fit what you're looking for!

And you should not find a problem finding them as most are always recruiting so have fun and enjoy the game
