Nothing some good old practice wont sort plus games are weird right now with the mix off everyone playing the new rolls and the other half throwing the match fast for exp XD give it a week or two a Viper should start feeling better
Been battle testing since prelaunch. The main issue with VPR in PVP, especially in CC, is the lack of stuns/slows/defense. Yeah you can get health back through snake scales but you are a sitting target. Get out of snake scales and stunned and get KO. Also the DPS output is so bad for VPR. If the opponent doesnt heal then yea, its a quick KO but if they use their defensive skills/heal, you run out of steam really fast. Since it cant 1V1 a MNK very well, it will continue to struggle and be one of the harder jobs to succeed in PvP. Its sad cus i think VPR is cool but bottom tiered.
Agreed think given some time we will more then likely see some good buffs to vipers its feels like Reaper and Gunbreak when they started in 6.1 just 1 good patch away from perfection
I've been playing Viper for the last couple of days and have been having so much fun. I love diving in and using Snake Scales then backlash and Rattling Coil to reset Snake Scales.
Oh yeah! I've been waiting for this. I haven't bought new expansion yet, but for pvp you gotta know what you're up against. Looking forward to the Picto guide next!
Viper is the most squishy melee, but maybe because most people still havent figured out how play them. The lack off mitigation, stuns and shields is kinda sad. Also already saw premades using viper lol
I think its for good reason Viper just on the edge off being too strong once players start getting clever with snake scales that will be the game changer seeing as you can reset it instantly as well :D. It had to happen Vipers follow up is much faster then Dragoon there's no way premades would not abuse it XD
Before watching your breakdown of the class was mentally making this class severely overcomplicated, something about audio cues feeling off in the middle of the mosh pit that is Frontline. This was really helpful in connecting the dots. Appreciated Salamander!
another great video and one i was looking forward to. seems you came to the same conclusion as i did. treat it just like reaper and just like reaper needs an aggressive team, so too does the viper.
@salamanderYT agreed that it does fare a lot better in terms of solo potential. from my experience so far, Viper is great at pressuring the back line. just have to know when to jump out.
Great Video thanks for the guide. But .. i have no idea which data center is that but this kind of example how you walk around all the time between enemies i see almost no one hits you that simply dosnt exists were i play (over 3000 front line battles) and i play Samurai in front with the tank hardcore getting hit by everyone and rarely die knowing very well how to survive. Every rush i see you are making no one is touching you. In the real world were i play every single person around you will burst you and there is no snake or anything that can save you from that. They were many vipers when came out all die like paper.. and now in 10 battles i rarely see a viper for the single fact its an easy kill target. You may say its a ''self skills issue'' but like i said on that video going in front of the tank walking around and ppl dont target you that dosnt exist. Its only for Samurai were ppl are afraid to hit him to not being one shot from LB.. but that piece of paper Viper ? No way i will miss that easy few seconds kill jumping around my team. You can clearly see 9:05 the only place i see you get targeted no more than 5 ppl target you and you barely survived.
very curious how this job will find its place in CC... it's always in the game because of how fast you can generate LB, but if you aren't careful with your movement and defensives you can get caught out and laid out quick. i've been running a roaming playstyle, staying off crystal and hounding people off crystal while returning whenever the situation calls for it. securing early kills is the most important way to gain progress in CC, and viper absolutely has the tools to pull that off especially with how much damage it can put out through guard. smart use of scales will probably be what separates the best from the rest
100% figured this would be the same way to play in CC your not there to doing the objective until you need to, its a flank and give chase roll that can also mix in sustain and stall, and yeah scales is going to be what makes the gap between good and bad vipers :D
by yourself or as the first to engage with all eyes on you even with snake scales engaging is rough, blending in with the team, or taking a few seconds to bait CC with snake scales from a little bit off range was a game changer in many of my recent matches, reset it right after then your ready for your real engage
@@salamanderYT I've been having a better time of it doing just this! Thank you, thank you. I'll look forward to the XP farm calming down so I can team up with more DRKs.
Awesome guide as always! Im a new player and a bit torn what to do.. ive always mained samurai n i like it in pve but for pvp it lacks something, be it better escape or not that much else to do after ur two heavy hitters after engage, any comforting words?
Samurai's is the weird one since the Limit break feels like it does not want to work half the time, what I mainly focus on it watching for the openings to dive with the aoe combo since first does the mass freeze and the third is big healing, Viper will be a good one to learn right now since there is no doubt a buff is on the way, if you can get good with it right now you will thrive after a power boost :D
It is a simple focus target macro so if im playing with Bunny or someone else I can set them as my focus press the macro and dash to them without the need off targeting
I did sometimes maybe its intended that way to not be to overwhelming for counter play, should it need it I'm sure they will increase the speed the damage goes through :D
Played my first Crystalline Conflict match last night since the patch, and of course had a viper to deal with... who decided he was going to attack me, exclusively, for the entire match. I didn't like him very much.
they probably did not want to add cc as it would become to similar to samurai and snake scales is already very strong if you could crowed control with that it might be too much
@@salamanderYTplus it allows them to give it other strengths that would become overwhelming if it did have a stun. scholar doesn't have a stun but the utility it has instead is way preferable to me
The 1,2,3 combo are literally downtime fillers, it’s not your actual rotation lol. If people actually used that as a rotation, they’re not doing any dmg.
I’ve been anticipating this video since early access release! Thank you for continued diligence for us that enjoy pvp.
Your welcome glad you enjoyed :D
Been LOVING Viper in PvE but have been struggling and feeling useless in PvP. I hope this video helps me fix that. Thanks for the hard work!

another great video and one i was looking forward to. seems you came to the same conclusion as i did. treat it just like reaper and just like reaper needs an aggressive team, so too does the viper.
It may yet have a bit more solo potential compared to Reaper time will tell just how good Snake scales could be

May I ask what music you have playing in the background? It's so soothing!

Do a guide for everything in this game just like this. Thanks in advance.
I will add it to the list XD
Did you notice that viper has a very long dmg delay on it's moves because of the long animations? Ouroboros is the most obvious example of this.
I did sometimes maybe its intended that way to not be to overwhelming for counter play, should it need it I'm sure they will increase the speed the damage goes through :D
Awwww thank you
Is there even a need to use basic Dual Fang combo? Hunter's Snap has 2 stacks and CD is so short that I feel like I always have it ready
Not too often with Frontline, comes up more in CC when your doing flanks and chasing single targets
I cant wait for picto😊

Its going to be the case often now I think with how there kit works, if a team does not want to help deal with them they will run rampant
Nice video

I dont understand ff14 pvp everyone uses the same buttons how would you possibly need a guide lmao
because randomly pressing buttons will just result in fast deaths and a low performance
