I have noticed the nail polish a few times, but my whole reaction was on the first time I noticed and it was basically, "Hmm, he's got nail polish on." And I continued watching the video without thinking twice about it. I don't see why everyone makes such a big deal about stuff like that.

A fun thing that one of my classmates did with nail polish was an experiment based on how fast nails grow. It was for his sixth grade science fair project. He painted two nails on his left hand and two nails on his right hand and then took a picture. He was experimenting whether or not a hand would be faster at growing nails. So he found his nails grew at just about the same rate but his ring finger on his right hand had the most growth over the time period.

A perfect example when someone asks "what is your favourite colour?" and you answer it with whatever, then immediately you get other questions like "and why?", "because it means ...?", "it symbolize ...?", "that's the colour of ...?" And I'm just like "I look at it and I like it the most", it doesn't have to mean anything.

My son a few years ago had to paint his fingernails or at least a couple of them for medical reasons, a couple of fingernails were flaking.
Once the problem was rectified, he painted them from time to time as his girlfriend liked them and so did the customers at the coffee shop he is barista for.
He did though, forget to take the paint off before going on stage one night during a dramatic stage play, the paint was black, the director said afterwards that it enhanced his character.

I painted mine for years starting in high school back in 2000. A best friend of mine would paint them in class for me. She liked trying different things on me and I loved having them done. She had this cool wrinkle effect that looked killer, but usually had them black or red. She was killed by a drunk driver a few week before graduation. So I kept painting them for years. I liked them and was a memory for her. I stopped when I joined the Marines and havent really started again (also got rid of my gauges and other piercings too of course). Been thru war, blown up, had other friends die. But being her pallbearer at 17 is still the hardest thing Ive done. Its been 20 years and I still miss her. May start painting them again lol

I figured your paint nails reason would be because I want to.
I don’t paint my nails because It would mean going into a store to buy some; then spending time painting; then spending time cleaning. And then getting headache from the smell. I’m just too lazy. I don’t even shave till the bristles irritate me, or I have to look professional for some reason (that means I try and avoid any meetings where I need to look professional). :)
But if I did paint them, I want to try emerald green, or a turquoise colour that reminds me of the Yukon glacier lakes. If you want to try that latter colour, it’ll be my chance to live vicariously through you. If I really like how it turned out on you, I may breakdown and get that colour for myself (my niece would be happy to paint my nails so I’d get to visit with her and wouldn’t consider painting a misuse of my time-might even avoid the smell headache).

Ha ha ha, I must admit it distracts me as well for the same reason, but like you said, that's me to deal with it. It is simply a look I am not used to from a guy but why should I care to be honest? Live and let live is my motto.... well, as long as it does not hurt anybody.

I noticed from day one, or maybe not day one, but I noticed very early on. As a grown man, I never worried about it, and it never made me think any particular way about you. I've known many guys, been friends with many throughout my life who painted their finger nails. Most were straight, some were not, either way it made no difference to me. Because I was all about... IF THEY'RE GOOD PEOPLE, THEN THEY ARE COOL. Regardless of appearance. You don't owe anybody an explanation, because anybody who is bothered by it, is obviously watching your videos for the wrong reason. It is what it is, so you keep on doin your thing, for you. For the record, you seem like good people.. 😁🤘🤘🤘

You've made me think through the potential positive results of me doing something akin to nail decorations, unexpected and showing by example that we're all individuals who deserve respect as a matter of course. I'm reasonably well known in the community and something like that might just help to do the trick.

I started wearing nail color about 10 years ago. My son had been persuaded by my younger neice to help her paint her brother's toes neon pink while he slept. Nephew woke, saw, became infuriated.. I got the call to come get my son from the sleepover. "Correcting" him later, I heard myself saying things about social concepts of femininity, and masculine shame and devaluation, which I recognized were fundamentally wrong. True, but wrong. So, instead of ordering my son to paint HIS toes with the neon pink I bought for "disciplinary purposes", I challenged myself to paint MINE, to explore the assumptions behind the things I had heard myself saying.
Eventually, I realized that I had never considered.. and would have vehemently refused.. painting my own nails, out of FEAR that some stranger (or all of them..) would have opinions about me like this; "He should be ashamed to wear that.. he devalues himself by wearing that.. because I associate that with women.. and women are inferior to men". I think that most people who would have that opinion, wouldn't articulate the "inferior" part in their minds.. but it must be there underneath, because without the presumption of "women are inferior", there's no basis for the prezumption of "devaluation" or "shame", and without that there's no reason to avoid wearing nail color.
So I recognized that I was acting from fear of opinions which would be BASED IN SEXIST PREJUDICE. I also realized that such opinions are invalid, with no legitimate authority to define me or the "rules" I must live by... that the only "power" they had was power I GAVE THEM by assigning more value to them than they deserve.
I also recognized that I had been following customs blindly without thinking.. but now that I had found the sexism behind the dress code, I couldn't plead ignorance anymore, and my only choices were to begin CONSCIOUSLY reinforcing through obedience.. or to begin ACTIVE DEFIANCE.. of customs rooted in sexist prejudice. I chose defiance - it seemed more "manly" than following corrupt customs out of FEAR. I have literally not been without nail color somewhere, fingers or toes, in 10 years.. and I have developed an intense passion for strappy heels and cute skirts!
However you got to where you are with your nail color.. BRAVO!

I have a heterosexual marriage. We both come from a strictly conservative christian circle (we're not christians anymore, thank "god" haha), so this is why I was impressed when my husband wanted to try out nail polish. He chose a beautiful emerald green polish and wore it till it was completely gone. It only happened once, because after that he told me he didn't like the feeling of something on his fingers, but I completely admired how confident he was about his little experience. I found his painted hands sexy and I was so glad that he was so assured in his masculinity, that this form of artistic expression did not bother him at all, even though we live in Romania, a very conservative and oldschool christian country (unfortunately! Unfortunately we romanians are still obsessed with stupid superstitions, prejudices, harmful christian doctrines etc)

I think the "distracting" part is actually partially because you do "talk with your hands" a lot too. One or the other isn't typically that distracting, but I have noticed on a couple of occasions when you've had fairly brightly-colored nails, my eyes just spend the whole video unconsciously tracking the "bright colored dots flying back and forth across the screen" as you do all of your hand gestures while talking, and realize I haven't really been watching anything else in the video.
(Maybe it's just my inner cat coming out again, though..)
Not that that's necessarily anything you need to change.. just that I can sorta understand the "distracting" comment sometimes (even though I'm already pretty used to all kinds of people (of all genders) having painted nails, so that's definitely not it..)

Up until now I didn't notice I haven't reacted in anyway to your fingernails. A) I was never interested in guys fingernails anyways, so why should I care for colored fingernails? B) Back in the day I was a goth kid with black fingernails - so, you don't think too much of colored fingernails, but maybe: "he no goth, fingernails not black". C) Most obviously to me (so this should actually be A I guess): the content! As I said before - I did not come for the painted nails or that Lebowsky-shirt, I love so dearly. I came for what you had to say - and I am glad I subscribed for that!
Fun fact as bonus: some people ask me, why the fingernails on my right hand are super long, whilst those on my left hand are super short. They are all really disappointed when I tell them, it's because I play guitar and use finger picking style where I use my nails as plek.
