Wow, I just discovered this podcast and am grateful I did. Such thought provoking and illuminating reflections. I also appreciate the generosity of the speakers in making space for the others to contribute, the effort by the hosts and guest to truly understand what is being said, and the clarity of communication. This is a beautiful example of what a rich conversation can be.
The discussion around a restoration of creation to God being part of the work of worship that Christians are called to is excellent. This can clearly be seen when we look at our "ministry of reconciliation" in 2nd Cor. 5. We see there that God, through Christ is reconciling the kosmos to Himself and that He has given the continuation of that task to those who are in Christ. This is the restoration of the created order through Christ which will be completed at the eschaton.
Such a great talk, so needed!!!! We are aiming do this in terms of works from a Reformed Post Mil theology/eschatology , in the context of Theology Art and Design, ( as in bearing the Image of God, in these very broad spheres) at the Maker Institute of Studio Art + Theology. Its difficult it seems for believers to trust that works matter , which does seem to correlate to Eschatology in some respects especially in creative endeavors that are more expressly the case, where folks with a dispensational eschatology, don't want to work the "land so to speak".
@@Kyle_Hessler Yes, so glad you have I wish I could attend this one, our conference budget is maxed for this year. But we will be praying for the Lord to bless your work in this Conference. If the conference finds its way to an online platform I would love to listen in. Best, RL
18:40 Bavinck speaks of the “vestigia dei” which is what I think your guest means. “While all creatures display vestiges of God, only a human being is the image of God.” - RD 2 page 555 “The visible world is as much a beautiful and lush revelation of God as the spiritual. He displays his virtues as much in the former as in the latter. All creatures are embodiments of divine thoughts, and all of them display the footsteps or vestiges of God. But all these vestiges, distributed side by side in the spiritual as well as the material world, are recapitulated in man and so organically connected and highly enhanced that they clearly constitute the image and likeness of God. The whole world raises itself upward, culminates and completes itself, and achieves its unity, its goal, and its crown in humanity.” 561
I’m Catholic and I promise you I don’t think I’ll be saved by my works. That is a heresy and is explicitly and clearly rejected by the catechism of the Catholic Church. If you have true faith you will be obedient to God’s will. I believe if I’m in the state of grace when I die I will go to heaven.
@@aaronsellers2396 Thanks for the response. Question: If temporal Christian institution building is regarded as the work of the Lord that will abide in some sense in the new creation how does that actually work? I mean, isn't every human institution, or even just a basic work, corrupted and stained by sin at some level, and thus will be destroyed?
@@r.c.506 Honestly, I don't know that anyone can give a concrete answer as to "how" or what exactly that will look like in eternity. I'd imagine it will be some kind of glorified version of what's done here. Jesus is the first fruits, and he was definitely still himself, scars and all, just glorified in resurrection. 🤷♂️
Glenn said not everyone is called to be an evangelist 😢 I couldn't disagree more, Jesus gave us the great commission to go out and make disciples. Are you saying that was only for the apostles?

Amazing talk. Thank you all.
Excellent and timely. Trying to more consciously live this out at work and it is fulfilling and causes me to see God's hand in what I do.
I always enjoy and learn from your discussions. I also share them on FB and I text them to several friends.

How do you men interpret a text like 2 Peter 3:10?
It's a refining fire. What's being exposed is what was done unto the Lord. The works of man that were done in the flesh are being burnt off.

He means by vocation
