    A bomber that's also a super-maneuverability fighter that has an armored cabin. (oh and it has a kitchen and a toilet in the back, for those long flights)

    This is, perhaps, my favorite Russian fighter/bomber of all time. Loved the redesigned fuselage. I recall when it first came out the west nicknamed it the platypus/daffy duck; however, I thought it was simply beautiful; still do. Puts a smile on my face ever time I see it.

    @Talshet The sound of cracks as the building collapsed was the sound of the struts slowly deforming. Basically the shear force of the weight of one side of the building collapsed in on itself. A plane crash into the tower would of easily effected the inward skeletal structure of the building to cause it to collapse.
    If your gonna argue a set up it won't be from the plane hitting the towers or the events of how they collapsed; it would be that they planed the plane crash, which is just stupid

    Look at the front end of an F-111. Long duck billed nose to increase forward visibility, high side by side seating to increase the camaraderie and teamwork between pilot and b/n. This aircraft can do air to air but it's primary mission is ground target destruction. Both are fast, both can carry heavy armament loads, both are designed for long range missions.
    They are both built in a heavy sturdy fashion to increase reliability.
    This is an excellent aircraft, and it does borrow from the past.

    @Talshet wasn't the aluminium plane that 'cut' steel bars, it was the fire that melted the riveted bolts that in turn allowed the towers to collapse.
    Its a well known engineering fact when the question arises; Which structure is safer in a fire a wood or metal? The answer is wood, Why? Even though wood burns it takes a while before its loses its rigidity.
    Steel however deforms once it is heated and losses all structural rigidity at once. Causing the building to collapse.

    @looxgood Interesting, B/C I read that the Su-34's passive radar was there to compliment the Irbis AESA which has a targeting and engagement range of over 400 Km at normal power and can easily detect the F-22s hack-job stealth package, which far exceeds what our AESA is capable of.
    Oh, just as a side note:
    AIM-120A range: 30 Mi.
    R-77 range: 50 Mi.
    R-77M1 range: 110 Mi.
    Even with the improvements, it is doubtful they managed to give the AIM-120 a 300% boost to range.

    @jjnomjqg : this aircraft is effectively slow (less than mach 2) because it's studied to fly near the ground so it's inherently slow (like the B-1B it lacks variable intakes). Anyway just because they're bigger, it doesn't mean that they're slower, actually not only they're faster but they're also more manoeuvrable than American fighters.

    @lukitazz568 Completely different roles. The A-10 is meant to destroy heavy armor and provide general CAS. The Su-34 is a fighter/bomber. I'm sure the Su-34 is far better at doing general bombing missions, but the A-10 is far more effective at taking out enemy armor and destroying vehicle columns.

    I know much more than you think.
    F-18 is generally not designed for maneuverability, but to fly at low altitude, high speed.
    F-18 and F-16 in the dog fight, when you go into a sharp turn, lose speed much faster than the F-15 and Su-27,because they make smaller radius turns at speeds below 450km / h than the above,in those turns they can not maintain the speed, and soon become the prey in the dog fight.with a full tank and full of weapons, F-16 has an extremely small ratio of weight and thrust

    I learned in school :-) I didn't wrote that SU-27 does not lose speed,but to lose a lot less than other aircraft ...
    If you need tables with a rate of turn (do not know how to say in English) for the Su-27, F-15, F-16, I'll give it, it is easy to conclude which of these planes has the advantage.
    Wing / loading is extremely important ... because it provides buoyancy(climg),with less speed and greater wing surface,the plane has greater buoyancy,and consequently better maneuverability.

    Could it be, that it is just another Su-27 variant. Oh yes - it is... Sukhoi makes only one plane in different flavors.
    And people are complaining, that Porsche has to many different variants on the same model...

    • @Toxofox
      @Toxofox 10 лет назад +5

      Porsche has a great base to work from, a good chassis and a lot of experience with it.
      Maybe it is the same with the SU-27 frame... If it is good and has potential for upgrades, why throw it away ?
      I believe the Russians do it too with the chassis from the T72 and T80 series...
      I know it was a different era, but the Germans did it with their ME109 throughout the war, keeping it upgraded to keep up with the competition. Same with the Panzer IV series. There is a world of difference between the Pz IV of 1939 and the Pz IV of 1945, despite being the same beast underneath. And the chassis was also used for the Stug series, I believe.
      The Brits also, kept on pushing and updating the envelope of the original Spitfire...

    • @Dominikmj
      @Dominikmj 10 лет назад +1

      Renaud Mayers
      I don't think, that it is a very bad thing... However the airframe will give some limitations, which you won't have, if you'd develop individual musters.
      The issue is, that the Russian military industry became somewhat lazy. There are quite a few completely new designed airframes in the west for the past two decades.... However in Russia there is basically only the PakFa... All others are just upgrades.

    • @Toxofox
      @Toxofox 10 лет назад +2

      Dominik MJ
      You are right. i'd love to see more new models coming out of Russia.
      With the SU35, although it is derived from the Flanker frame, it has been very heavilly modified.
      However, let's not forget the Sukhoi SU 47 Berkut, that was build and used as a test bed for a lot of the technologies now used in the SU 35.
      There was also the Mig MFI /LFI 1.44... It was the first Russian attempt at a Gen 5 fighter. A couple of those technology demonstrators were built before the whole project was mothballed due to lack of funding.
      We forget that Russia went through a lost decade... Between 1991 with the fall of the USSR and 2000, Russia was basically a bankrupt country. the military didn't order any new or existing planes, money dried up for the different design bureau. that they survived through that period is almost a miracle in itself.
      What they managed to do upgrade wise with the Mig35 and the SU35 is testament to how good the original designs were.
      The PaK FA is a brand new design but I understand there still are some problems to iron out. It's understandable when one sees the problems the US has had and still has in developing the F22 and F35.
      Then, there is the Yak 130. Although it is not an advanced fighter plane, it is a very good trainer jet that can be used as a light fighter plane should the need arise.

      начнем с того, что СУ- 35 нет даже намека на стелс, хотя бы как у F- 18 и кроме того появление СУ- 35 говорит лишь о том, Т- 50 ждать- не дождаться. МИг- 35 мертворожденный все заявления о его закупке ВВС России не более чем сплетни в кулуарах( однако ВМФ России закупит партию МИГ- 29К для палубной авиации- вчера в новостях). СУ- 34 очень нужная машина для бомбардировочной авиации ( СУ- 24 устарел), хоть самолет и получился перетяжеленным, тем не менее он очень нужен, жаль, что выпускают всего 1 самолет в год( но идет модернизация производства)! Its a CAS aircraft with extend capability. Making it have weapons bays for whatever reason is redundant, it doesnt need them for they would not serve any practical purpose.
      This plane is a cross between 3 types of aircraft with its primary purpose being CAS, but where as most CAS planes need air dominance already in place this one can also function as a bomber and a fighter to establish it if need be, or operate in areas where air superiority is not absolute.

    The Aim-120 can pull 40g at supersonic speed. The Aim-9X is a vector thrust missile that can tell the difference between flares, chaff and an aircraft. Russia has several AA missiles that can pull over 18G. Now isn't about hitting targets from 9 miles to 140 miles out and countering attacks by very expensive gear such as stealth technology and anti-missile missiles such as a trophy system.

    One Su-34 participated in the war 080808 in option support jamming systems. Despite the fact, that in this war Russia lost several aircraft, within range of this aircraft was not even highlighting by enemy air defense system. Currently in Russia there is no modern jammer like, for example, Growler. Platform Su-34 performing the functions of strike aircraft, can provide the Russian combat aviation invulnerability.

    @Talshet What are you on about jet fuel melting metal? Jet fuel isn't an acid its a flammable hydrocarbon. As two large objects collide at a high velocity the ignition effect occurs. The heat deformed the metal causing the struts holding up the building to weaken and collapse.
    1400°C, funny that since jet engines 2000°C+.
    Moving on the youngs modulus was exceeded by over 20 times in the crash. The shear modulus to buckle the building would of been its own weight.

    We also heard about "acceptable losses"(TM) - you know exactly who coined this euphemism. Somebody of us even was LCC operators of Big Red Button 30 meters under ground. Duty joke was "Will you turn the Key, bro?" Duty answer was "No shit bro. Exactly I will". It has nothing with "attacking". Its all about "Who ever take the sword will perish by the sword".

    2:30-2:31 the cannisters do not come off clean and one strikes the rear fusalage, you can see the aircraft pitch nose down from impact. It happens earlier in the video w/ other ordnance. Seems to have rack ejector problems or bad air flow around the weapons stores. Beautiful aircraft though....

    The Su-34BF looks a worthy replacement for the Su-24BN, being able to carry some 7,000 kg of A/G ordnance plus an AK-630 cannon and a mix of R-73 and R-77 AAM's for fighting one's way to and from the target when necessary---a lesson from the Second World War implemented to this day by Frontal Aviation.
