- How to get DJI Video into Fatshark goggles has been a question I've gotten for years. We finally have a way to do it now! This works with the Air Unit, Vista and the DJI FPV Drone. All you need is money and patience (like everything else in this hobby hah).
Here are the links:
CosmoStreamer - cosmostreamer.com/products/dj...
Raspberry Pi 4 (4gb worked for me) - www.raspberrypi.org/products/...
USB-C cables - tinyurl.com/y7nspnpd
HDMI cable - tinyurl.com/2yyf4kpb

Raspberry Pi4 - which RAM version will be enough? there are 2/4/8gb versions avaiable. I mean on 2gb version - will it run smooth enough?
Oh man I forgot to add that! I was using a 4gb RAM version and it worked fine. I will note that in the description and also find out if the 2gb version is enough! Thanks for asking man!
@@ChaddRainsFPV great, thanks! )
great video, thank you for figuring everyone out and sharing 💯
Great video, I don’t even own a drone, just been looking at how people make an FPV “anything” and found your channel. As a business owner myself though I definitely think you have great content. Keep it up.
Thank you sir! I haven’t had a lot of time the past 2 months (new baby girl), but I really appreciate the motivation. I’ll get back on the grind 🤙
Good stuff liked and subbed
awesome stuff mate!
Thanks Ash! Appreciate the support brother!
Thank you, in a short time you have made fpv RC cars and drones fun and creative. Let's see this setup run your RC car from inside your home on a big TV LOl. That's my goal. I have built several 5.8, 1.3, etc. ground stations, DJI looks like the way to go, DJI googles V2. Thanks keep up the great work.
Thanks man! It seems people really want to see that relay set up so I’ll get on it! I wish my area had a lower noise floor for 1.3ghz. My video on that frequency kinda sucks so I’ve been worried that people will dislike the video even if I have a good set up 🤙
Met you at the park today. I'm glad to tell past you that you did, in fact, get back into freestyle. I saw you ripping it up today as I left the park. I appreciate you giving me pointers.
Hell yeah brother thanks for saying whatsup 🤘
Where did you get that case for the R-Pi? Nice vid!
It’s a Flirc case! You can find them all over. Amazon, adafruit, all the places 🤙
I need a video showing how to hook your dji v2 to fay shark for someone wanting to spectate
This works for that purpose exactly! Check out cosmo streamer 🤙
great video ! what hd display are you using?
That is an old 10.1" FPV monitor from Ares. Has a 5.8ghz diversity receiver built in and a standard HDMI port. You can totally find something cheaper.. Shoot, an old TV from goodwill probably has an HDMI port these days haha 🤙
Hopeful now - I have these giant old version of DJI Goggles and DJI Mavic Air drone (not Air 2) Do you think with this Raspberry-system I can use my Fatshark Scout googles which I bought this summer 2023 to the DJI Mavic Air Drone?
Unfortunately that will not work. Those goggles/ the Mavic series is not compatible with this mod at all. Hope this helps 🤙
would it be possible to use usb-c to hdmi and stream directly to any goggles which have hdmi input?
Using a simple HDMI to USB-C adapter will not work, directly. That is why we are going to the raspberry pi 4 with cosmostreamer software, then to goggles. You can go to an Android phone and use the digiview app with an OTG cable, as long as that particular phone is supported. There’s a video somewhere showing you how to do this 🤙
Nice work bro. You have that asmr voice lol.
Lol. Thanks man. Better than screaming in the mic like these other YT Channels I think 🤷♂️
Hey Chad, does latency matter for fpv cars as they do for fpv drones? If not, one could build a fpv car with OpenHD and ~100ms latency.
Good question! I mean, it matters to both equally, depending on speed and terrain. You can fly a Mavic over open ocean for miles with 100ms latency and you’re fine. If I tried to race another car with my FPV Lasernut around the block with that much latency I’d probably crash. 40mph with obstacles is def crossing the line of when latency matters haha 🤙
@@ChaddRainsFPV yeah sure but its a comparison between 40 bucks and emptying one‘s bank account
Right right. So for $40 (open HD) the threshold is lower in terms of speed (because of latency), basically. Sounds like a good system for the money still. Probably limited to around 20mph in most places but still a good system.
Maybe I missed this... But do these steps work with DJI Goggles version 1?
DJI FPV goggles
Yup! I’m using v1 goggles in my vid 🤙
Looks like the Pacific Northwest!
That’s Lincoln Park in West Seattle brother! Haha 🤙
Is it possible to use my fat shark goggles with my DJI mini se?
Not at this time (that I know of), because the interface for the receiver of the Mini SE has no program to hack it. The video output from the SE’s controller needs to go into a phone app. There may be a way to get the screen from your phone mirrored to another device with an HDMI out, and then plug into Fatshark goggles. But I haven’t seen anyone do it yet 🤙
@@ChaddRainsFPV for the dji mini 2, would it work if I connected the hdmi input of the goggles to a hdmi adapter of a WiFi hdmi dongle? So I mirror my phone screen to the hdmi display of the fat shark scout? I seen it work in a few videos now.
@@styrofoamx229 The non-FPV drones and remotes from DJI have different limitations than the FPV goggles. It may work but I don’t have one to test 🤙
The AXIS FLYING box is a JOKE compared to a RP48gb running cosmostreamer.
Just about any laptop does this, with freeware. You could just hdmi out from there if you wanna use goggles
Good to know! I mean, a $35 RasPi is a lot nicer to carry out to the field and you don’t have to push a single button to get it working. So I’m pretty sure a lot of people wouldn’t mind this option 🤙
Ahhhh so can’t simpy use fat sharks with the o3 air unit?
Nope. The O3 is even more locked down in that regard. But you can output via USB-C if you have the Goggles2, Goggles3 or Integra, directly to a tablet / iPad 🤙
@@ChaddRainsFPV Gotcha… ya that wouldn’t make sense unless you were just trying to share screens
LOL What's the latency?
Not great lol. Can’t really fly through it (maybe in auto level). But if you’re going to give someone a ride along, best done in some goggles right?
I actually tested this and I could fly my DJI air unit cinewhoop just fine from the TV screen. check out the latency tes at the 02:30 mark in my video here: ruclips.net/video/VNpBb5-puOs/видео.html
@@andreas-ohman thanks. it became near mavic air 2 or more. ocusync latency is more than 120msec.
@@PaosElectronicDreams yeah, you really shouldn't try to fly anything faster than a cinewhoop and that wast especially easy either but it can be done.. I just had to try.
@@andreas-ohman ^^ Larger latency means no high speed due to the long predictions you have to make in your brain.
I bougth an Axis Flying box instead of going the Pi4 and Cosmostreamer route. I'm probably going to be very p155ed off when I get it without a power brick, because literally I ahve no idea how I'm going to power up this piece of sh15t. I'm going to try a Lio charger in Output mode, but I mean I have no idea if it can deliver 3.0 amps....
It certainly is not cool they do not include an approved power brick with it, but leave it to the customer to try whatever they have on hand to get it to fire up... and probably run the risk fo frying it. as it's basically a cellphone or tablet processor running Android OS.
I'm actually going to try to fly to this 100ms latency video feed.. as I can't use goggles at all.
Right on. The axis flying box is a nice piece of equipment but it is a bit pricey. I didn’t know it doesn’t include a power adapter but you should be able to find something on eBay or Amazon for cheap. The 100ms latency wouldn’t be too bad on a slow multirotor in auto level mode (best with something ducted) or even a fixed wing. Good luck with the gear 🤙
@@ChaddRainsFPV Yeah unfortunately I don't fly low or angle mode. It's all hardcore b6115 to the wall aerobatics for me. I found this video to see how bad 100ms was in real life: ruclips.net/video/3zZRy-UArXM/видео.html
Version 3 upgrade of the firmware removes Betaflight configurator, whic kind of deletes a big portuion of the functionality of the box. Apparently the ANdroid version of it don't work so well.
I probably should of gone with the Raspberry Pi 4 CanKit and Cosmostreamer and got more bang for my buck, but we'll see if paying the $100 premium was worth it over a Pi4.
Love flying the sim, but the actual RC hobby for me has been a complete 100% bust. $3000 into it and I've only flown for 5 minutes 2 years later. What a total waste of money.
3,000 hours in the sim though. I tell people fly the sim instead, its way more fun and rewarding. The actual RC hobby itself is a bust and a rlp0ff...
@@choppergirl sorry to hear you’ve had a tough time on the RC side. You’ll have to take it easy on the screen with 100ms of latency. It doesn’t matter what some video says, I could never fly hard with 100ms latency. I highly recommend cruising if you’re using the screen 🤙
@@ChaddRainsFPV Really this is not what I need. What I need is a DJI receiver box with antennas and HDMI output that can display OSD on screen over the HDMI, with low latency.
I expect to probably be disappointed with this rats nest of cables solution, and probably am going to have to liquidate all my DJI cccrrrp on ebay and switch to OpenHD, or just chuck it all and stick to flying the hassle free sims.
@@ChaddRainsFPV Hey, is there a power LED that comes on when you press the power button on the Axis Flyign box? I'm using the absolute biggest 3.0amp USB fast charger USB C charger I ahve and everythign plugged in... video, keyboard, mouse, back and forth between video lines to test... I'm getting absolutely nothing when I press the button, nothing.
Is there a power LED or something ont he box at all? I have the only version that was available to me, the fanless version... without all the colorful LED kit on top.
So basically, a rats nest of cables and a brick int he center
What I being looking for
Hope this helped brother 🤙
@@ChaddRainsFPV digital ground station
@@reginaldwillis5363 Yes! But there is a bit of latency going to the HDMI device. Not so much that you couldn’t fly a wing around in an open field, but too much to freestyle for sure.
Your title is not correct.
Before everything you need DJI goggles.
And you are only making video out format conversion, please hack DJI system and make the same without DJI goggles, then the title will be correct.
