Hi hope alls well G im a network rail track maintenance engineer just found your channel love the footage keep up the good work il be watching all your videos from now on 💜💜
Thanks a lot!
Shame that we went Melons up at Wakefield Kirkgate Twice! But at least you did the quick Normanton switch. Great Vlog G
Yeah thanks it was doable haha
Brilliant video G, shame things kept going melons up at Wakefield Kirkgate lol. That station used to not be so good, it had no CCTV cameras and was a hotspot for crime as well but thankfully CCTV cameras were installed in 2015 and now it's a better station and a nice one it is as well. So far I've only seen it from inside trains passing through Wakefield Westgate. Falling lock is a pretty funny name for a lock lol.
Another amazing video 👍😀✅✅
Watching this in September. The Great British summer says hi and told you I'd be back.
Wakey Kirkgate is much better than it used to be - until about 10 years ago, it looked like it had been abandoned some time in the 1950s
the station building was unoccupied, the windows on platform 1 were boarded up and whitewashed, and instead of the glass /metal roof that's there now, there was a solid concrete roof that was structurally unstable at one end; the subway just had blank walls and black mould
the ramp down to the subway from platform 2 had a concrete roof as well, and the walls were absolutely caked in bird crap
the shelter on platform 2 and 3 is a very recent addition; last time I used the station a few years ago, they'd ripped out the old one and left a big hole, and I thought they'd Bradfordise it (abandon the scheme and leave the platform with a big hole in it for years, which was happened when the Westfield Centre in Bradford was built)
The music in Kirkgate is part of the plan to try and reduce crime - they’ve spent a lot of effort doing that station up, because it was a dreadful spot with a high rate of (some very serious) crime, mainly because it was so quiet and slightly out of the way compared to Westgate. It’s looking much better now!
Looks like you had fun G.
As always, G slaying every Choo Choo Tuesday!
150001 was known as Scud One when I last drove it 25 to 30 years ago. It was one of the class 150 prototypes. Excellent video as usual well done.
Fantastic video as ever
Love the channel!
Fantastic video as always
The music at WKK is the Yorkshire national anthem
Thank you G for a very interesting vlog sorry to hear you were feeling ill great to see you still enjoyed your day even though your plans were revised
All better now haha thanks Stuart!
Great vlog G some nice exploring of the stations around the Wakefield & Pontefract areas. Shame about the delays and cancellations. I enjoyed watching as always.
Thankyou Sam!
Ace video G, love how you pronounce some of the station names 🤣 like Normanton 🤣 can tell you are not a Yorkshire lady haha
Excellent video as always G even if it did not go all to plan and sorry to hear that you have not been well hope you are better now
Thanks a lot!
Great video.
Magnificent
Such fun!
What a beautiful two hour wait. That canal was just so cool looking! That park at the end was so pretty too. 😎
I love the thumbnail where your side-eyeing the train you just missed 😂
😂😂
The one station you missed in the Wakefield area was Sandal & Agbrigg, which I didn’t even know about until a few years ago.
Alight there for Sandal Castle and Pugney's country park.
I did
Thanks G. A great vlog which made me feel better too. So good to see you out having fun.
Great video, G. Shame it was a day of upturned melons but you certainly made the best of it :)
Hi G,
Another fun filled watch, I just dom't know where you find the time and energy...
Take care,
Jon B.
Fantastic Video G, love watching you're videos everyday no matter the time. It's really irritating if a trains' delayed for that long. Besides, it happens here in the U.S as well like almost all the time on Amtrak. One day, you & Lucy have got to come over to America & got to see what American Railroading is like. 💙💙💙💙
My cousins used to live near Wakefield so i know Wakegate Westfield.
7:55 See now that would be the kind of thing that would have me throwing the phone away and just rage quitting on the day
its amazing to see Outwood again as i smashed that station earlier this year before i went into Wakefield i had an hour and a half there just to get a ride on a 331 & a sprinter i also smashed Wakefield Kirkgate after i visited Wakefield buth Outwood & Kirkgate stations are great for trainspotting anyway all other stations looks lovely awesome vlog
Hi G, hopefully that is all the MELONS UP done and dusted with for a long while. Another informative and humorous vlog, you can't beat some flowing water. Looking forward to the next one, stay safe.
Hope so haha!
I found Wakefield Kirkgate an absolute nightmare every time I had to use the station. Every connection would leave a minute before I arrive, and I'd sit waiting and waiting, and waiting... for the next train which would be delayed or arrive on the other side!
My dads hometown is Normanton, its a shadow of its former self
entertaining video g
Well looking in bright side G at least your awesome gsoh and fun ain’t gone melons up awesome video as always 😊
Brilliant G. Your films always brighten my day. Hope you are feeling better now.
Nice one Gina! Great fun as always. Keep safe. CHeers!
Thanks!
I love the black wooden fencing at the stations there.
Flowing water at 06:45... did you know that the bridge and the chapel on it are both 13th century and grade I listed?!
Yeah I'm surprised you didn't bob into the Chantry chapel for a quick gleg, it's lovely.
You are amazing keep the good work up I always enjoy your videos
I like Honey Dew or Galia, Melons.😁👍
Great video as always thanks for sharing
I passed through Fall Ings Lock on the 17th July
Great video G, nice to see Millenium Stadium home of Featherstone Rovers!
There’s a good chance I may have signalled your train 😊
Some local twang for ya below to blend in:
Normanton = ‘Normy’
Wakefield = ‘Wakey’
Westgate = ‘Wessgit’
Kirkgate = ‘Kurgit’
If you know, you know
Great vlog love see your vlogs on a Tuesday night
The area round Wakefield is sometimes called the "rhubarb triangle", so I suppose you could say it went melons up in the rhubarb triangle 😂
Alright, enough of the nerdy facts, great vlog as always, G 👍
😂😂 why is it called that haha?
@@GLovesTrains they grow rhubarb around there (apparently the soil in West Yorkshire is ideal for growing rhubarb)
Another nerdy fact I just discovered when I looked it up
@@GLovesTrains The corners are: Wakefield, Morley and Rothwell.
Fantastic video, G! That was such a contrast between a 2-3 minute wait at one station and an unexpected 2-3 hour wait at another. At least you had some nice flowing water to sit by and help pass the time!
Haha yeah fun times 😂 thanks barrowc!
You should have gone to the Hepworth Gallery
Love the way you say NOR-MAN-TON
Think you know Wakefield kirkgate very well now you've spent most of your day there G haha only joking! 🙄 🙂 As ever brilliant Vblog fantastic viewing bring on next Tuesday's explore cheers G.
My neck of the woods ( Crofton Wakefield) j The league of gentlemen attended Bretton college near by..the rest is comical history 😂👌
Super !
Thanks!
Well another fantastic video lovely keep them coming I love watching u xxx have u been to castleford yet as ur getting closer especially st Wakefield kirkgate and Normanton castleford is the next stop I'd have bought u a coffee
great video again as always love it i am gona tell u which one of those is least used if you like lol
You missed all the exciting sights of Outwood by walking up and down the platform. 😂
You could do knottingley both ways via Wakefield or castleford
Oh dear that’s not very good if things don’t go right especially when trains are being delayed or cancelled and you plan a day trip on the train and you expected to see it so messed up. I do feel sorry for you G. Still I do like your content and humour. 😁
158789 is an ex East Midland Unit before its days at Northern it was also a Scotrail Unit for a while hence the out of place headlights to the rest of the Nothern units
If you can't remember Wakefield , just think of Jane Mcdonald. ( Oh she is from there by the way)
Oh, and I was born there as well! 😉
Shaky wakey!!(kirkgate!!fun😅😊
Well that is Yorkshire Metro for you. Be surprised they have trains at all as I lived near most of them stations of Pontefract and Westgate. Glad you never went to Knottingley as your camera might be stolen. Mind you there was a ghost train or Parliament train that ran from Knottingley to Goole.I do not know if it still does though. Maybe if you could do that then you could have an entire train to yourself for just that journey lol
You are not really selling it to me.
@@carlwilson1772 £5 and it's yours.
So many cancelled trains all over the network, this is why people stick to cars. Keep flashing those amazing railings (teeth) 😅 x. 🤒🏊♂️👣🇺🇦
"Bong-bong-bong" This is a customer announcement. Passengers are reminded that wearing underwear on the head and/or shouting 'squishy babies' is strictly prohibited.
150 001 is that a three car ex Clitheroe line unit
The number of cancelled and late trains is terrible ! Great video though.
Worse places to be stuck than Kirkgate. It used to be really horribly run-down but, happily, underwent refurbishment about a decade ago.
Could have visited the Hepworth whilst at Kirkgate.
I 💘 U.
Where do you get all your chocolate coins from?
Already looking forward to the next video.
Imagine the outrage if there were two cancellations and a 2 hour 40 minute wait in the South East of England!
😂😂
It’d probably make the national news
Good video! However, I think you might’ve been able to save some time by doubling back. What I mean is; when you left Wakefield Kirkgate you could’ve skipped Streethouse and gone straight to Featherstone; then come back to Streethouse and skipped Featherstone going straight to Pontefract Tanshelf. I was then expecting you to walk to Pontefract Monkhill.
I checked and it didn't save me any time the trains pull in similar times
@@GLovesTrains Fair enough. It was just a polite suggestion.
Glad you eventually escaped Wakefield G
NICE MELONS G (although not as nice as our govia thameslink melons up moments down south, obvs)
😍😘🙂😉
What day did you do on

Do play train sim world ?
It's actually pronounced 'Norman-ton', as in the man's name. 🙂
Norman-ton. Not Nor-manton.
It’s pronounced normanton not nor manton
Trains Station 🚉
G may be the only woman I know who can venture near flowing water and not need a pee................. oh hang on lol
when you wrote melons up, do you mean boobs?
Yep, it's a synonym of "Tits Up"
Am I the only one who fancies her
Yeah. Bad news for you there, mate....
@@tombaxter6228 she's a lesbian?
Yup..
@@tombaxter6228 what a waste
Excuse me for being ignorant ut wht does G stand for in your name once again my profound apologies to you
G Loves Trains
🍉⬆ my life consists of commenting everything with emojis online rn
Great vlog as always, may I ask have you ever done the Keighley and Worth valley railway?
Thanks! And not yet sure i will one day 👍
@@GLovesTrains I hope so because that steam railway is amazing, and it would make great content for your channel 😃
Nice one "G" Adapt and overcome! All's well that ends well as they say though you did come dangerously close to some serious "Carry On style inuendo" What with it going Melons up and your usual squishy boobies 🫢. Now't wrong with that though, your video style is informative and what's more important really entertaining (Even when it goes melons up) which sets it out from many of the other rail travel related vlogs. Keep them coming. 🤔😉🤣🤣.
