Fix Windows 10 not using full RAM: Many users have reported that their system fails to utilize installed available memory instead only a portion of memory is displayed in Task Manager and only that memory is usable by Windows. The main question remains that where are the other part of memory gone? Well, before answering this question let’s see what actually happens, for example, a user have 8 GB installed RAM but only 6 GB is usable and displayed in Task Manager.
RAM (Random Access Memory) is a computer storage devices which is frequently used to store the type of data that is being used by Operating System increase the general speed of a system. Once you shutdown your system all the data in the RAM is erased as it’s a temporary storage device and is used for faster access to data. Having more amount of RAM ensures that your system will run smoothly and will have a good performance as more RAM would be available to store more files for faster access. But having a good amount of RAM but not being able to use it is very annoying for anyone and that’s what the case here. You have programs and games that required a minimum amount of RAM to run but again you won’t be able to run these program as you have less available RAM (even though you have installed a large amount of memory).
Why Windows 10 not using full RAM?
In some cases some portion of RAM is a system reserved, also sometimes some amount of memory is also reserved by Graphic Card is you have an integrated one. But if you have a dedicated Graphic Card then this shouldn’t be a problem. Obviously, 2% of RAM is always free for example if you 4GB RAM installed then usable memory would be between 3.6GB or 3.8GB which is perfectly normal. The above case for users who have installed 8GB RAM but only 4GB or 6GB is available in Task Manager or System Properties. Also, in some cases, BIOS can reserve some amount of RAM making them unusable by Windows.

For me what worked was enter BIOS setup - Advanced Chipset Setup - Memory Remap Feature - changed from DISABLED to ENABLED. Saved the change, rebooted the computer and now I can use 5.87GB of 6GB installed. Previously, only 3.12GB of the 6GB were usable.

Blue screen of death now wtf....
Wouldn’t recommend doing this unless you make a recovery file before doing all these steps. Had to reinstall windows on my pc to get rid of the blue screen of death. You should definitely warn ur viewers about things that could happen if they do this.
Lmao nothing happened with mine it's to make your PC boot up faster it's maybe because you had a slow PC that couldn't handle full processors max(no being mean)

I've tried your instruction which is simple to follow, but nothing changed, unfortunately. I have 8gb DDR3 installed but can only access 3.9gb. I tried it a couple of times making sure I followed every detail, still not registering.

Man, thank you. Your video increased my RAM from 4.65 to 10.8! Thank you! I have 12g but very happy with the increase. I did reorganize the RAM into different ports first which increased how much windows was noticing by 4g! But still wasnt using it. Your video changed that. Cheers!

Guys I need to clarify, if you make windows use more RAM, it will make windows crash more. Just keep in mind. And then starts leading to Hardware faliure and stuff.

For those who could not solve the problem by doing the msconfig thing, I do it by changing the memorys from one slot to the other. I have 12 GB, 8 and 4. And only 3.69 RAM usable, and by switching slots, now I have 11 GB usable. Try it, at least. It works for me (sorry about my english).

For those who have this problem and after many tries videos on youtube still failed. It is your memory which is bad. One of them stick. Try uninstall each of them one by one and you should find the bad stick(s)

Amazing! For some reason my computer started saying it only had 2GB of 32GB available and everything kept crashing, wouldnt run or sooooo slow! I had my RAM modules out, swapping graphics cards, booting safe mode, updating BIOS, drivers.....everything! Eventually came to your video, turned my page file swapping off, reboot - fixed!
No idea why that happened, night before it started acting up I came back and PC had frozen up....it never crashes! Did a restart and all ok....except the 2GB limit.

If you run out of memory on your machine while performing common tasks, just increase the size of the pagefile. Which is like a hard-disk (or SSD) backup system for memory. Sure, it is slower- but at least you aren't crashing.
No offense, but this video may be harmful to users. I see lots of complaints about blue screens below. In the video it is recommended that one turns off OS managed pagefiles. Which is ill-advised and will cause all sorts of crashes- essentially this eliminates virtual memory. In short, this is sSome of the worst advice I've seen on a non-problem. What Windows reports as usable memory is the memory that isn't used for OS overhead. The nuances of pagefiles, swap space, and virtual memory are hard to understand for casual users, and even apps developers. It requires a deeper understanding of the prefetch system to really "grok" what is going on. (And I have only a 10 mile view of that.)

you need going once time advanced option and msconfig advanced option select 3 gb and max size 4 gb after time you need select to msconfig Advanced option memory 4080 but click off if you open click on your computer cannot be start select click of and restart your computer you can now use it 4gb but I recommend you use it 3 gb becaz sometimes windows 10 exaclty harder using maximum ram recommend ram use is very smooth.

for everyone that this didnt work, its most likely from a kit, so mix match the ram in different ram slots until it works. usually its the first slot, then skip one, then the 3rd slot
This did not fix my issue, i checked my pc and it is not faulty, i have two graphics cards an nvidia and radeon, how can u change it in bios setting it says 13 out of 16 gb of ram is allocated
Just uncheck the maximum memory. Worked for me. I had it checked with my 16gb and when i restarted the computer it was checked but said 0, and my usable RAM was still less than it should have been. So. I unchecked it. Now it’s 13.3/15.9 usable GB
When i did this the RAM in use decreased went from 7.20GB down to 6.21GB, This video did not help at all, Thanks for slowing down my computer
If you haven’t found a solution . Just go back and go to the boot tab and uncheck the box, then apply and restar your computer.

First if you have a restore point try that.
Second if you don't have a restore point try resetting back to an earlier version of windows.
Both these options appeared to me under advance options after the computer failed to auto repair.
Hope you had the same issue as me and this helped fix it.

you need going once time advanced option and msconfig advanced option select your recommend minimum 4 gb or 5-6 gb and max size your maximum memory size 8-10 or 12 gb after time you need select to msconfig Advanced option memory and click your memory select to max size and click off so after time restart your computer you can now use it your ram very smooth on your pc.
I had the exact same problem, I could only use 6 out of 12 and now I can use 10!

Guys if this not helping, if you have this problem still you probably touched ram tables inside the PC, its physical bug. Turn off PC, then open PC and physically remove RAM tables, right one put in left slot and left in right, Start your pc and now ur FULL instaled RAM should be recognized into BIOS and Task Manager.
Thanks man, I got 8 gigs of RAM and it was saying 4 gigs was HARDWARE RESERVED. I did everything from flashing the bios to update it, changing bios settings, troubleshooting to make sure the ram wasn't faulty (I.E: Swapping slots, testing and seeing if the PC would still boot with 1 stick alone.), And updating drivers to no avail. This at least makes it so I can use 7 gigs instead of 4!

I did this lately and my Hardware Reserved RAM went up to 4.7GB which caused big issues. I went back and reset my Boot Advanced options: I toggled them off and after a reboot my Hardware reserved RAM is now set to 211MB and everything works great. I am using an i5 with 4 cores running at 3.2GHZ and 8GB of RAM.. What do you figure on this issue? Oh, I calculated my max. RAM ok.

probably because you should not uncheck that box for VRAM. AND YES ! That is actually VRAM not RAM. Also you need to restart it.

You are a God among men, sir. I fought and fought and fought a laptop to no avail. Granted, it was infected all get out... I finally noticed that it was only saying 2 gig of RAM with 1.75 usable. Ran diagnostics to make sure that the RAM chips were good and finally found this video to broaden the usable amount.

If none of these options have worked for you try and test your ram slots. My nephew had the same problem we tried all these options. When we tested each ram slot to see if it would post and swapping here sticks and moving back and forth to be sure we were able to find that one slot was bad and PC would not post with one stick in the right slot, but one stick on the left slot posted fine. If both were installed the slot would recognize the ram, but could not utilize it. At least this way you know what the problem could be no other method works.
