I built a 30’x40’ red iron steel building with two commercial roll up doors $13500, 6” thick slab with footers and piers $7000. Just myself and my 74yo mother. No fork lift or crane
You sir are my new hero. Good on you.
Did you have help with the concrete?

Did mine myself for about $21,000,..but I went with a few extras. I did have my beer buds work for me tho. I paid them BBQ n beers👍. Took a few weekends cuz I had to cut them off once they started talkin funny, but all in all it came out pretty straight,.. if you tilt your head to one side😁.

Well, that explains why I can’t build very well, always drunk!
My 30X40 pole cost $45,000. But that includes a 30x20 concrete driveway. Includes plumbing for a bathroom which includes toilet, sink, shower, and water lines from house. Also I had a dump station installed on the opposite side of barn for my class C RV. I can pull in and dump my tanks and hook up water to my RV. So i guess im pretty happy with what I got and what I paid for it.

Here in the Netherlands you'd have to add in 550K for buying your neighbors house so you have room to place it.
True but y'all are also the size of the state of Maryland with over double the population.
And another year or two of waiting because the neighbours are complaining over the permit you are trying to get. Fuck this country.
@Kevin Verduci what yard
Why wouldnt you just reclame more land?
You’ve got to conserve space for all the refugees and asylum seekers.
We had a 30x30 done for 13,000. extra 3,500 for concrete
20 years ago?
I would be very concerned about the contractor. That sounds like cost of materials if concrete is cheap. Was labor provided out of the kindness of their heart. Are there piers under the slab?
@@Iskialaska where are you from? Getting a shop built in MS or AL I would bet is a fraction of the cost in CA or AK.
In 2019 my 30x40 pole barn in SE Oklahoma was $11,000 for the building and $5000 for concrete....

My grandpa has 15 acres of land and there’s an old barn on it but it’s huge. Starting this summer we’re gonna clean out the inside and start renovating it
Sounds like a fun project but a lot of work
Sounds fun! How's it going?
@@chrisvela4860 We had to rebuild the frame of the barn itself bc most of the wood was rotten and damaged from rain over the years then we everything else from there was pretty easy. The entire thing is almost done we’re just adding a couple more touches to the new loft we built on the inside and then it’ll be ready. After getting a new room added to our house, 100 k for that sounds like a good deal. No joke
I was blown away when I looked into what a house addition costs in 2023. It made me say “Fk it, it would be cheaper to just move to a bigger house.”
Yeah here in CA the concrete would easily be 30K lol
That's what I'm saying. But I'd charge 29k to beat that and get the job lmao
Move away from that feces covered cess pit.
Even here in country ass Virginia, it would be at least double that for concrete, if not more.
Can confirm in the middle of nowhere Kansas where there is a concrete plant in our town it would be more. More like 20k unless your not planning on driving on it
I'm doing a 55'x25' foundation cost 18k...did this dude just put a 4" concrete slab or what??
I built one 2 years ago 40x60 and it cost me 25k total, gotta love the Amish
Where are you out of?
What part of the country?
I'd pay that! Show on up. I was just quoted 87k for 40x60 no plumbing no electrical and I had to get the permit.
Yea non of that was included in this guys quote. All plumbing electrical is always separate and to run electric to another location it would need to be underground easily 10k not including interior electric just to install sub panel in it. Same with plumbing another 5k depending how far away your bringing it. Also add interior finishes those are never included insulation if you live in a hot or cold area. Easily fully finished 75k+. 87k only if you upgrade your windows and doors to something nicer.
That's a big red flag when they want the home owner to pull the permit, especially on a project that big.
@@tagadvance As a builder I agree 100%They obviously won't have business insurance. Great way to get sued after trying to help them out.

After owning and maintaining an old home (built 1884), I am looking into Barndominiums
Terrible investment. Why would you want to spend so much money on a fad that's guaranteed to go out of style and be nearly worthless when it does??
I saw a video a few weeks ago about a barndominium and they look to be an interesting investment.
@@bobbygetsbanned6049 so is a house a fad? Wtf are you talking about fad? It's a living structure, people can build a small house or a barndominium with the same budget, except you get a built in garage. Probably the dumbest comment of the year so far
@@MultiTasker888 If you had any idea what you're talking about you'd know there are tons of houses that sell for super cheap because they went out of style. Try selling a house with all the rooms walled in, that was the style decades ago and now huge houses that style sell for pennies on the dollar because no one wants to live in a closed off house. barndominiums are the even worse, not only are they super period specific but they can't even be renovated into a nice house, they are an ugly ass metal building that's super period specific no matter what renovations you do. They are the dumbest possible residence you can invest in, other than maybe a tiny home.
Exact same situation here. House build in 1884, nice old place, but the WORK!
Thank you! I have waited for years to hear this. I would like a 20x30 and nobody gives a straight answer.
I had a 20x30 metal building built 10 years ago and all together concrete slab and everything it cost under $5,500. Got quotes in the past few months to build a similar one a little larger 30x30 and no bid was less than $70,000 absolutely crazy.

South East USA $20,000 labor and materials for 30x40 wood frame with all metal exterior
Depends on where you live...different in southern states as opposed to northern states....especially by state
No way you can pour a 30x40 slab for $7k here in vermont or New York
Yes. That price is great. I need one on my land in south Florida. When can you start?
It helps to know people who have been in an industry for decades, own their own business, have the equipment and machines if you dont, etc. Could always pour your own slab, and frame your own building.
speaking from experience that is a Very reasonable price!
Hahaha no way you get that done for that price today.
That’s the same price as my 4 bed 2 bath full size basement with 15 acres no way I would pay that much I would buy my neighbors house and land and just gut out his house for my cars for half that I could probably build it for 2000 without the concrete
Love the barn idea… but this one in Florida would fly away next hurricane
I did a video on how much my 36x56 cost me, and it was no way near 31k. But it's a 36x56 with 12' walls and needed a lot of rock for leveling pad.
Way more right On cost of the project
I have considered those metal trusses for my house build. Yet the only
thing that I have a problem with is now I have to build a ceiling. Which
is fine because now I can get that 2 foot insulation in the ceiling.
Which I thought about doing those osb I joist or something like that. I
do like the idea of having a open attic area yet that extra cost may not
be worth it when I can get roof trusses for 400 bucks each and only
need 9 trusses and 2 ends for 10 foot centers for a building 30 by 100.
If I go 8 foot centers then 104 wide and just adjust everything
accordingly.
For my build by your cost it would cost around 75k. Add in OSB/plywood sheathing for roof and walls. along with house wrap, caulk and tape all seems. Another 10k. Another 2500 for floor insulation and plastic. 500 for floor finish. DWV and Septic 15k, new well and well pit 5k ( I have already number of wells and may even use one of them. ) Then the build inside which consist of 3 bathrooms, 3 bed rooms, 6 exterior doors and 9 windows. 8 interior doors. Everything inside including heating and cooling around 50k. I am building a triplex kinda. 1 br 1ba type units. I have most of it down and figured out. Its just the little things and trying to reduce waste, reduce cost and everything else. I have 2 main lay out ideas and this may change over time I see another layout that is better. I would like to reduce the build depth to 24 feet as this would knock off 600 square feet. Which does not seem like a lot yet this is a huge cost savings by making it a bit smaller. This also require far less heating and cooling. Overall cost will be lower and more affordable. We are not looking for luxury. We just want something new and energy efficient.
I am going to consider installing a 2 ton mini split in each unit made by EG4 which has a direct solar hook up option that can run the unit in an off grid mode with out a battery bank. These unit cost 2k each and require around 2kwh of solar for a total of 12k installed. Then I will install a kind of central air handler type system to move air in between each room to keep them stable and this could run low wattage all day and night long.
Sounds like a decent price. I had a 36x48' pole barn built in FL. 8x8" posts, metal trusses, 2x6 purlins, and 26 gauge metal roof, no walls. $12,000.
How long ago did you have it built?
That pole barn like that in Canada is 2-3X that cost.
That turned into a house would be a cheap build solution
40x60, insulated, gravel floor in 2005 was 32000. Concrete is 100 a yard delivered, labor on top of that. That's a deal but I'd have to see it to believe it.
I'm from California... That price seems more than reasonable!!! The concrete alone would have been 15k-20k lol
$7000 for concrete seems a bit much, but it's been a while, so maybe the price as gone up
Not that size
Location dependent. Seems cheap.
I built a 4500 square-foot home for less than $75 a square foot does not include appliances
My 30'x40' was $35,000 and that doesn't include the drive way which was $9.000. So it all cost $44,000 in all.

If it’s just the concrete and not including subs for ground, framing and option for heat, maybe $20k or all in north of $30k in NJ! Estimate last year!
Come back and give a total cost when it's actually built.
what month and yr was esitimate pricing
6 years ago, pioneer pole barns, 24x32 12ft ceilings, 16k with 4inch thick fiber mesh floor.
We have a 30x60 in Mexico it cost 25k plus floor and doors
so I had my pole barn built in December of '22. it's a 40x60x16 ALL steel. I opted for double bouble insulation, 2 16x14 rollup doors, and an oversized entry door. JUST the building installed on my concrete pad was just over 60k. I also did wainscoting, which was extra. also the rollup doors are on the north side gable end which is cheaper to build. I used mid valley structures out of Michigan where I live, they subed out to North edge steel out of Indiana. I had my building installed within 1 month, that's first call to inquire to the keys being handed to me after it's built. took the crew 5 days to assemble on site. hope this helps those that are looking into building. I've been let down by almost every pole barn builder I called, most didn't call back or were well over a year out. I looked for 4 years before stumbling upon who I did. best experience and easiest building experience. also since then, my building has been through 5' of snow in just one of the few storms we had, plus this summer so far 70+ mph consistent storms with gusts of 90mph.
Nah I paid 16500 material AND labor for Amish and then 4k for concrete in my 30x40.
I just got a quote for a one car garage 1 door 1 window no electric not attached $32k. That is what’s going on in Maine.
I had a 30 by 48 built in 1998 10' side walls with concrete floor and shingled roof was around $14,000.00.
Guess they don't get alot of snow there.
Pole buildings are fine in the snow, I live up in the mountains where we get tons of snow and mine works just fine. Never worried about the snow weight. As for concrete cracking idk, my floor is gravel. It would be nice to make it concrete but it's just too expensive and I'm not going to use a flat smooth floor anymore than I'm going to use a dry gravel one.
The math is just over $25 /sqft. For the clearspan and height it seems you have I think that is a fairly good price. Certainly not cheap but not overly expensive. Now the main thing is use....is it commercial and going to make the money back or is it just for personal use.
Here in Wisconsin my 30'×60' was 25,000 just for materials. Add to that excavating and concrete piers it's about 37k. That's without windows, insulation, concrete floor, or finishing the inside of the building.

Concrete is about $15,000 easy, labor used to be double your materials cost, so off on that too, pushing 40k easy
No considering I built a 100x50 pole barn for two cases of beer.
I'm in central FL and I'm having a 40'x60' pole barn installed, no sliding, no concrete and it's $17k (received quotes as high as $21k). Concrete quote was $15.5k, so I may take that on myself a little at a time!
*those costs are in your area.
Prices across the United States, and the world, vary greatly.
Considering ive seen concrete slabs go for that price.
