This little cottage cabin is sweet! I love the stone & siding combo on the exterior. Nice little deck on the side. Inside the light wood makes it appear larger than it is. Love the loft! Lots of natural light.
This is the finest laid out tiny cabin I have ever seen! - very large and spacious for 600SF - You guys have really thought this one through very well - Hope you enjoy it for years to come.
Very Nice but personally i would have done wo the huge washer and dryer for such a small size place , added a some kind of a fireplace and somehow made room at least for a small dining room table. Anyways, to each their own and we can always use and pick/choose the things we like from models like this.
This is gorgeous. Less is more. And this cabin I want to live in for the rest of my life. Far away from big city problems/issues. i.e. crime, trash, traffic, homelessness, etc.
Actually for that cabin, that is the only place for it. And since he got a side-by-side front load, if you notice, he built a "cubby" for it. So now he has a extra counter/side table for folding. Very smart.
I have seen some with a combo unit in the bathroom where he has the water heater. If the water heater and filters were moved up a bit, you could have a combo wash/dry under and free up space in the living room. Guests, or a single person aren't going to do more than one or two loads of wash per week. Aside from that I think it's extremely well done
Absolutely heavenly, beautiful peaceful surroundings, adorable inside not cramped, nice staircase with a feeling of safety, also I love how you have a nice bannister which makes a person feel secure. The back patio is wonderful as well.
Beautiful…andThe one huge important thing that always gets missed is storage. Even for shorter stays. There is nowhere to put any clothes, suitcases, linen never mind if you live there full time.
You think table and chairs would be better in the space behind the couch in place of the washer and dryer. Also where do you put your clothes. You have no closet or cupboards. You have no shelves or storing space.
The area where the wash/dryer sit could be a wood stove or set the tv on that wall to allow a better furniture arrangement. Compact washer and clothes line is enough or compact stackable. Over all love it.
Do you have a cost break down? You definitely got the utilities right. Radiant floor with split ductless in a relatively maintenance free building; love it. I am wondering if that can be done for $100/ft2 all in?
They do have some really nice cabins out there. I've seen some around 600 sq ft costing over 72k which includes delivery but did not include plumbing or anything.
@@stevehartson2126 $100k, approximately. All depending on what finishings you select and if you want a solar system like his, water system like his, etc, etc. Keep in mind that this is a very rough estimate. The price to build a house depends most on its location. This affects the cost of not only land, like most people are obviously aware of, but also labor, materials and delivery, as well.
Beautifully executed. I agree with a prior post that I would add a bump out for the washer/dryer-which would create more space for a different seating arrangement (and maybe a drop leaf table and chairs for dining). Just a couple of ideas!
This sir, is perfection. I came to youtube to see if I could find inspiration for a home between 500 and 650 sq ft, and not only did I find one (your's) but this is basically the layout and interior/exterior style I have been working up in my mind. My hub and I live in the deep south in an average sized house on a few acres, getting ready to sell as we're wanting to downsize and simplify, but it's near impossible to find a decent home in the 600 sq ft range on just a couple of acres that doesn't cost an arm, leg, foot, and a few toes. Might as well be searching for a unicorn. Wishing you, your family and your guests all the best along with peace and happiness as y'all enjoy that beautifully crafted home.
This is perfect. Absolutely perfect. There is not a thing I would change, which is rare. The water tank and siding are things that I will now look into. Stellar job!
In the process of finishing my 650 square foot cabin. The main part has a 14x14 living room, 13x14 kitchen with large pantry and broom closet. 9x14 bed room with two closets one is 7 foot long . ( closets are a must) A nice size bathroom with a double seat shower. Utility area with a closet by it. Front porch is 36x10 Inclosed. Back open porch 12x8. All one level with cathedral ceiling in main part. Large windows in the living room to view the beautiful wild landscape . Dead of winter heating cost is $40 a month ( let’s see how much the cost has increased this year) I am 68 and this is perfect for me being I am in a fixed income. I am very blessed.
Brilliant! So well planned and executed. I've been sketching and planning different configurations and I have to say you completely nailed it. I'm jealous. I hope my cabin turns out as nice as yours.
I would put that MASSIVE washer and dryer combo taking up 1/3 of the main room in a real size house. Put a stacker unit on the back porch in an enclosure, and you really need a closet somewhere, unless everyone that visits are nudists! 😂 A small table to eat at would be kind of nice too...
Ditto. I actually hate the lay-out. The kitchen is horrible - huge fridge (yuck - stainless monster) cheap white cupboards and do not fit the kitchen. Decor is horrible, too. Needs a wood burner or gas fireplace and much smaller living room furniture. The washer/dryer - horrible placement in LR. No closets anywhere. No shower door - just a curtain and a pedestal bathroom sink is a total waste. One would need storage space in everything purchased for this cabin. I pass on this nightmare.
For a full time living location, yes, more storage and slightly larger layout. Remember, this is just a cottage, somewhere to spend a weekend or a few days.
The Way, Why so harsh? It’s a guest cottage on their property, not a remote cottage. WOW! That negativity of yours jumps off the screen. Let people live their lives in their way.
Absolutely love it. I would go for a 768 sq foot and it will be perfect. I agree with the comment below having wood heat is a must. I'm selling my home to my son at a really affordable price and keeping a piece of woods here in Michigan for this almost same look. Smaller is better when the kids are grown.
Watching this from my 25x26 story and a half cabin. Love your setup. Awesome exterior color. I could live in mine year round. I use a wood stove to heat and I can say the floor gets quite cold but balances the wood stove heat. Nicely done.
Very cool! I could absolutely live there full time. If I had that acreage and cabin I would fence off a good sized area in the back to keep pets and kids from wandering off. Beautiful cabin!
Very pretty, with absolutely no storage and having the washer and dryer right in the living room (great room) so you can listen to the washing machine or dryer while you try to watch tv and all your laundry and detergents etc. right there as decoration.
Or, you could do washes when you're not watching TV. If you want storage, get shelving or an outside storage building. Grow up and quit the snarkiness. Oh, and check out the video title. It's a getaway, not a home. It could be but who needs more ugly texts?
You can build this very size cabin and use different materials to make in more affordable. Plus, it'll be even less if one can do some of the building themselves. I'd just be interested to know the dimensions.
@@Longing4theWoods its way to subjective. Completely hired out? What region? How much you do yourself. There is no ballpark that would blanket everywhere. To satisfy you the range of cost for this cabin is between 20 and 200 grand
We have about the same size, but got so much additional loft space (enough for a working office/library). We're on almost 60 acres with a beautiful stream in one of the most gorgeous spots in NY state (Schoharie county). It's just heaven. I'll have to do a walkabout like this. Loved your on demand water system. We used an incinerating toilet making a septic system uneccessary.

I'd live in that full-time. Are you looking for a tenant? lol Very nicely executed, and so thoughtful of you to consider the needs of your guests who will be staying there.

@@InfernosReaper I’m speaking from experience from when I was a service technician, mini splits made up about 10% of the units we serviced but were more than half of compressor changes and they were the nice carrier units too. The air handlers are usually really cheap too but I think the quality varies. Maybe my experience is limited since they usually went to a server room so the load could’ve been greater than a regular house . They just dont work as well as they should in my opinion
@@SonOvaSon Ah, I see... As a field service tech for computers, I can attest to the climate control demands of servers. Its kinda sounds like whoever was running them tried to cheap out with just a minisplit instead of running a full-sized unit on them like a server room needs, especially if they're running older computer hardware since that tends to run a lot hotter.
Nice Cabin and I love the look of the pine wood inside. I'd love to own one like that but I'd maybe move the washer and dryer to maybe a utility shed or maybe a "bump out" for it and put some sort of fireplace or maybe gas logs in place of the W&D in that area. Overall , cabin is great!
Bad Driver. There's no dining table/chairs inside. There are times you're not going to want to eat outside...like during rain, snow or extreme heat or cold. The area of the washer and dryer would benefit from a dinette set.
This is a cute little house. Congratulations. Here in Western Europe, however, you probably won't get permission to put up a weekend house like that in the forest. Canada is certainly more generous.
This so crazy. I've had an image in my head of my ideal cabin and this is the closest I've ever gotten. Can even overlook the living room. The only thing that's missing from my image is upstairs half-bath. And wood burning stove downstairs. aside from those, this is perfect..
I’m sure you’ve had this question a hundred times, what does it cost to build a place like that? Very high quality materials and construction I can tell. 🎉 love it
If I had to ball park the high end I’d say 120k and low end is like 90k. I think that should be a relatively close estimate but I could be completely wrong.
Building cost are up right now, but the cost for the contractor is probably going to be around 120/sq ft so $72,000. And of course you’d have to pay the contractor on top of that, but if you could do all the labor I’d say you could get it done for under 80k
@@sandrajohnson9926 Excavation, slab, heating, water filtration, I was thinking more like $100,000 if they did it themselves. Add another $50,000 for a contractor.
I've seen this cabin probably four or five times now on RUclips and it is the most perfect cabin I've ever seen for a little house. The only thing i have a hard time accepting is the laundry in the living room
Man! What’s not love about this cabin! With the addition of a small fire place and a ceiling fan on the patio only makes this cabin or “cottage” that much better! Great job
A woodcarvers dream. Perfect at 600 sq ft Self sufficient and no maintenance Radiant Floor Heat and Ductless AC. And the deck and view or No other homes to obscure the view. Best cottage I have ever seen I live in a 399 sq ft park model now, but this beats that. I like the barricade around unsightly LP Tank. And no stinky messy wood stove. Well done.
Nice cottage. May I ask where you ran electric from? Or who is the manufacturer? How are the Temps inside during winter/summer? Do you have a septic system as well? Thanks David
Wow, I finally found it. If I could have that cabin in a village or a small neighborhood and the nearest Sam's, Walmart and gas station was under 20 minutes away, get it hooked up to sewage and natural gas, wired with internet...that would be my new home. The only thing I would add is a garage or a carport and a paved area for my car so I don't walk in the mud. After that...I guess replace the "lawn" with gravel or more pavement.
Love the look/ construction - lots of character. The only thing I don't like is the washer/dryer being so visible in the living room - a panel with magnets would solve that. And as other have mentioned, a wood stove for some additional character would be amazing, but a nice to have more than a must have. Definitely saving this for inspiration, thanks for sharing!
This is a very well thought out cabin. You can gain more storage space by installing toe kick drawers under the lower cabinets in the kitchen, and maybe within the staircase.
I watch a lot of small and tiny home/cabin build videos and always circle back to this one as my favorite. Such an awesome concept, great design and execution. Do you have the plans listed anywhere online for purchase? I'd love to get my hands on them for my own property one day and more than willing to pay!
It's almost perfect 😁. I suggest adding two cabinet doors to conceal the washer & dryer. Use 180° hinges to fold the doors against the enclosure's side panels when w/d are in use. Plus, install a closet over the w/d. It could span from the top of the w/d enclosure up to the ceiling with a clothes rod, or have a few shelves. Another option, is to leave countertop space for folding laundry, and to hang an upper cabinet that matches those in the kitchen. That "folding area" might serve other purposes at times -- as in, a breakfast bar or desk with a pop-up or slide out extension. Stash a few stacking metal stools in the TV area, to be used inside and outside.
Yeah this is one of my all time favorite cabin designs ever. I do agree with others to either knock out washer/dryer or replace them with much smaller ones and add s little fireplace. Perfect.
Very nice. The only changes I'd consider would be to make the deck/patio a little smaller so the living room could be a little larger & have built-in closet in the master bedroom. Really like the steel roof. I'm guessing the snow slides right off most times. Wish steel roofs were more popular here in the Midwest. Because so few people go with steel, the price is absolutely outrageous. 30 year shingles never seem to last 30 years. One question: How much did it cost ?
The outdoor space is cheap compared to indoor space. There's not a big need to sacrifice it in lieu of the other. You can make the living room bigger and still have a big outdoor space. You want that on smaller houses.

Great for just an overnight but absolutely zero storage. Even hotel rooms give a place to put some things and clothes. Cute, but more of a glamping experience than a livable space
Hey I just stumbled across your great cabin video. Great job all around. Your design is very similar to our own build. I particularly love your exterior colours. Could you please share the colours of the siding, trim and windows?
Build it more into the slope there and have a walkout basement patio! Stack the patio, 1st level deck and loft area with a deck. Still the same footprint but you've got almost a 1000 square foot living space with 3 levels of outdoor living space.

The water catchment system is great! Love the mini split hvac too those are super quiet and efficient.
Mini splits suck but if your house design doesn’t account for ductwork they make things very aesthetically pleasing
@@SonOvaSon Is there some functional reason why they suck? I am genuinely curious

Very awesome! Thank you for this beautifully built cabin tour!
It's basically just a shed from some company in Ohio
This is the first tiny home I actually love the layout and design. Can I get the plans for this? I'd love to build my own!
I love it nice job. Greetings from west central Ohio.
Also agree and don't want to see toilet from kitchen!
@@opaleddens The bathroom is fitted with a pocket door. Go back and watch the video.
Love the outside siding! Beautiful well thought out cabin. Love it.
Being almost 50, if I had the land and the money - I would do something exactly like this - truly amazing
