Making exterior selections for your new home build? I am walking you through siding, trim, windows, doors, garage doors, roofing and exterior accents.
I started with the interior selections (see video 3.1) but you can also start here if you would like, your contractor will need these materials before most others. Most people have a pretty good vision of the outside by this point and there really aren’t that many options (compared to the interior). You will need to select the style and color for your siding and trim, roof, windows, exterior door, garage doors and any accent you are adding like - stone, columns or gables, etc.
Most likely your contractor will send you to wherever he/she ultimately wants to buy the products from - typically a lumberyard or building supply. Most of those showrooms will carry all of the exterior materials in one place. A lot of the individual providers have visualization tools on their website, once you know what brand you are going to use check out their website. Take siding for example, you can pick a home similar to yours and play around with exterior colors and trim. It’s a nice, free way to play around with your options and better visualize what it will look like!
