Reuse of Irrigation Drainage - The Case of Renovation of Lift Scheme in Machavaram, Bapatla dt., AP

The video demonstrates the collective efforts by the lift irrigation farmers to revive the defunct scheme. This is a case of reuse of irrigation drainage from the Thungabhadra Drain that carries used water from the upsteam irrigation command of Prakasam Barrage to the Bay of Bengal.
The scheme suffered severe rusting and damage to suction and delivery pipes due to the salinity in water. WLF supported farmers to revive the scheme during 2021-22 securing their food and livelihoods.
