Hi! I loved your video. I would like to ask you where do you recommend to stay? And how many days? I was thinking of staying in Hallstatt for two or three nights but I would like some recommendations besides Hallstatt and what place near Hallstatt do you recommend for solo hiking? Greetings from Costa Rica 😃
You can stay anywhere close to Salzburg. It is easy to drive around in the area. There are unlimited amounts of hiking routes in this region. If you like higher terrain I would also recommend hiking the Steinernes Meer. There are several huts you could stay overnight as well. I would recommend staying for at least a few days.
Actually, it is hard to find a mountain in this region, where you don't have a great view. Untersberg is more difficult, you should have some mountain experience, because most routes have some exposed sections, and tourists tend to underestimate these routes. It is also physically more challenging than Schafberg, but there are also more difficult routes onto Schafberg. So, rule #1 is to really plan your hikes, because it can get quite tricky very fast. Also, do not trust single sources, because often different people will tell you very different things about any mountain 😉
@@chris.schmied It was easier to get to Schafberg with public transport so I went there. However, the hike was mainly forest and car road. So the hike was not so great, but the view at the top was stunning.
Hi, we are planning to walk up this summer. We will be starting on the St Gilgen side (after taking the bus from Salzburg) could you please recommend the best route up from this side. Are they are nice as the route you took? Thank you and great video
Hey, the route i took in this video was just outside of St.Gilgen. The bus stop is called St.Gilgen Aich ( it’s just one or two km away from St.Gilgen ) It definitely is a nice route and worth taking. Let me know if you any more questions.
At the bottom it can get up to 30 degrees Celsius and about 20 degrees on top. Thanks for noticing my historic comment, I just always have to think about that when I climb up :)
❤
Can't get enough of this view 😍 It's one of the most beautiful hikes i've done so far. Greetings from Vienna ✌
It is also one of my favorites! All the lakes and surroundings give amazing views from the top! Can’t wait to go up again 😄👍
A new bucket-list item for me. I'd better do it before I get too old.
It’s a beautiful hike! Hope you make it one day :) write me anytime you have questions!

Do you recommend Underberg or Schafberg? At least the view from Schafberg looks better?
The view from Schafberg is amazing. I prefer Untersberg bec of the alpine feeling you get there. Less crowds and steeper climbs. Difficult choice.

@@chris.schmied thank you. Is there a name of the route or a map online so I know exactly where to start and the route to the top? Thanks again.
Search in Google: Schafberg von Winkl , then various websites will show maps with the exact route.
Thanks Chris, Very well explain. Some historic fact with it was good. What could be the temperature in july at the bottom and top of this hill ?

how much time wants for the top ?
It takes about 3 hours when you take your time.
