I lost my great grandfather... but I never met him. He was an avid train enthusiast like me. Born in the late 1910’s. I still miss him. It’s sad. I was in 2005 and he died in 2004. A full 2 years before I was born. I have all of his old VHS, DVD's, Photos, and even his 100th Lionel Anniversary Clock. He never had a model train set, so I have multiple to fill that gap. I don't believe in god or Christ, but I like to think that somewhere in the world, he's watching me carry on his memory and belongings.
Me and my Grandfather have the same relationship of loving trains and every time we see each other we always watch videos of them. So sorry for you lose you grandfather would have been really proud as I know mine would be to.
I know it's been several years but I just found this video. Sorry for your grandfather's passing. This video does a fantastic job of sharing your love of trains. Thank you for sharing.
Rest I peace for your grandfather! :( My grandpa used to work in steam engines Until he got his leg cut off by the wheels of a steam engine. He is still alive and well today!
Great video, great song & a great tribute to your grandfather. 7 members of my family worked for the Lehigh Valley railroad out of Coxton Yard near Pittston, Pennsylvania-Midway between Scranton & Wilkes-Barre. My great grandfather Kearney, 4 grand uncles & 2 second cousins all worked for the Lehigh Valley railroad from about around 1868 to 1976 when it became Conrail & worked for Conrail to about 1985. Railroads & trains are in my blood. I travel by Amtrak long distance and when I’m home in the San Diego area I ride to & from Los Angeles & Oxnard on the Pacific Surfliners alternating my visits between the 2 cities.
i also think of the large coal powered ocean liners of white star line, like the olympic, titanic, majestic, and cunard line's aquatania.....it was an age of REAL MEN..............not afraid to get their hands dirty, know how to power steam engine...........i also worked in a large high school in the boiler room, i loved every minute of it, it reminded me of the boilers on a large liner! you talk about your grand father, a day does not go by that i do not think of mine and my grandmother............he had less then an 8th grade education, but could do anything with his hands.........wood work,, electric, plumbing...............he also was a streetcar motorman. both of them to me are who i have tried to live my life by.
I know how you feel. My grandfather died from Asbestosis when I was around 13 years old. He understood that I love my model trains (I collect British locomotives). The last thing he got me before he died was an A4 pacific called 'Falcon'. I take extra care of it because of that. Still, may the pearly gates open for your grandfather.
Sorry for loss dude. But he would have been proud. My father and I ride the motorcycle out to the altamont pass railroad all the time to watch the trains. I love trains and I understand the relationship between you and your grandfather.
We All Respect The People Who Understand Our Happiness, Dead Or Alive, Sorry About Your Grandfather. I Love Your Videos. Your Videos Make Me Not Feel Embarrassed About Liking Trains.❤❤❤
man... i love you but i also feel so sad for your grand dad its sad but that how life works i also heard a couple years ago my cousins dad died i hope you get better he shall go to heaven with wings
This is exactly why so many people love steam engines; it's not just that they're beautiful to look at, but every locomotive has their own voice and personality; their controls, their pipes, the sounds they make as they move down the tracks, it's all different with every engine. Not like the diesels that have taken their place; they all sound the same when they go past. But steamers? They all sound different, and if you listen closely, you can even tell which engine is coming down the line just from the sound of the hum on the tracks. Bring back steam!
Sorry about your loss man. I have never lost anyone in my life but, me and my grandfather are both train lovers. I would never be the same if he passed away. Sorry for the late comment but I just found this video
Sorry about your grandfather I wish him well in heaven Hope he is driving the scraped steamers up there in train heaven What was his favorite passenger train And what was his fav steam locomotive.
I miss my Great Grandfather and My grandfather who are experts about trains and one of them tried on The Vanderbilt, I was to take back that era where trains are the best way of travel
your grandparents should be proud not only you show how much they Infulenced your life, and making one of the BEST MUSIC VIDEOS OUT THERE! honestly why is the Crap that we have now more famous than this... this should go on Vevo
I know I am very late but I am sorry for your loss. I am glad you two had a good relationship. like me and my grandfather (before he died as well) may he live on
@railfanningboy, I understand your loss. I'm very sorry about your grandfather. My grandfather died in 2017 from pancreatic cancer that he's been battling for 39 years. He was an engineer on the Southern Pacific piloting GS-4's through northern and central California. Me and him have many great train chasing memories, and I'm sad that he's gone, but I'm still very happy that I got to meet him and share a bunch of wonderful experiences. He died a devout Christian, and I'm very excited to meet him again one day in glory.
In 2015 I lost my granddad, who was a avid railfan. Most of his family were railroaders on the UP & CB&Q in the steam age. It wasn't him understanding me, but me understanding his passion and I got the steam bug to. Oh the stories he told about the depression, the war, and the one thing that kept him hoping.... steam locomotives. Standing by the mainline waiting for the evening freight and the crew would sometimes throw coal, toys, or snacks trackside for him and his buddies. A great tribute to a great generation....
I have a cousin who works on them! To bad i dont know him well, and i never meet him, but he gave me a thing that he uses on those trains, I cherish it. It may not look like much, probably because its looks like a jumper cable for your car, except its connected to a light bulb, and is for trains.
Sorry about ur grandfather me and my grandpa were both into trains then he also passed but this also reminded me of him as well and brought back a lot of nostalgia and I really like this song
I look at the clock it's a quarter to four It's been a long day, I can't take anymore I've got to get away and head down the track With a full head of steam and no lookin' back I hear the pistons pounding out the beat I feel the rhythm underneath my feet And I dream... Oh yeah, I dream I dream of the legends of the rails... of the legends of the rails I've got a temperature of a 103 I've got train fever and the one remedy is a steamer Black, headed down the line Through the hills and into the pine Travellin' along through the countryside I put my hand on the throttle and I open it wide And I dream... Oh yeah, I dream I dream of the legends of the rails... of the legends of the rails A black silhouette against the moonlight A whistle echoing into the night By the rocky hills through the mountain snow 100 miles and 100 to go It's a journey back to a place and time When a hot cup of coffee only cost you a dime And I dream... Oh yeah, I dream I dream of the legends of the rails... of the legends of the rails
I had an uncle, he lived along the NYC. He knew every engineer who came through his small town in Ohio. He would often get candy from the engineers. Sadly he passed before I met him. But my grandfather told me about him.

May the Lord bless you.

sorry for your loss
I look at the clock it's a quarter to four
It's been a long day, I can't take anymore
I've got to get away and head down the track
With a full head of steam and no lookin' back
I hear the pistons pounding out the beat
I feel the rhythm underneath my feet
And I dream... Oh yeah, I dream
I dream of the legends of the rails... of the legends of the rails
I've got a temperature of a 103
I've got train fever and the one remedy is a steamer
Black, headed down the line
Through the hills and into the pine
Travellin' along through the countryside
I put my hand on the throttle and I open it wide
And I dream... Oh yeah, I dream
I dream of the legends of the rails... of the legends of the rails
A black silhouette against the moonlight
A whistle echoing into the night
By the rocky hills through the mountain snow
100 miles and 100 to go
It's a journey back to a place and time
When a hot cup of coffee only cost you a dime
And I dream... Oh yeah, I dream
I dream of the legends of the rails... of the legends of the rails
I know I'm late, but, I wish the best for you and your family.
