I'm amazed they even put the noise in the movie. Or they did keep the original audio in? Either way, great attention to detail by him and the sound designer
I lived next to a railway station and not only could I tell which type of train it was by sound, I could also tell which track it was on based on the sound of the wheels over the track joints. With enough repetition you pick up a lot of details if you're paying attention

@@WendyCollins-cc4zz francis said they used an LMS red which is correct for the terminus when in reality, LMS terminus was Euston, LNER terminus was kings cross
I am sure someone has picked up that your comment about Kings Cross being LMS is completely wrong. But just in case they haven't, Euston was LMS and Red, Francis. Kings Cross was LNER and Green or Blue.
The official lore behind the Hogwarts Express is that in order to come up with a solution to many magical families using magical means to send their offspring up to Scotland and drawing too much attention, the ministry of magic in the late 1800’s basically stole and hid an entire train from the muggles in a large scale clandestine operation, wiping memories as they went, then modified and repurposed it for the school run 😂 My favourite quote give a clue as to where the train might have come from, that “..several bemused Muggle railway workers down in Crewe spent the rest of the year grappling with the uncomfortable feeling that they had mislaid something important”

4:45 Bourgeois is incorrect here - King's Cross was a terminus of the LNER, which painted its locomotives green, blue, and black at various points, but not really this burgundy colour, which was indeed the LMS.
Just want to point out that flat spots on Thomas wheels wouldn't have occurred there. Flat spots come from the wheels locking up (usually due to excessive braking or an axlebox failure) and sliding on the rail creating flat spots which is very serious and can derail a train.
@Martindyna that exact thing is what caused that big train derailment and fire in East Palestine, Ohio, early last year. There have also been several cases of it happening with old-fashioned coaches, which caused very deadly accidents, most notably the wreck at Frankfurt Junction, which killed 79.
One of the better representatives of the railway industry. Thank you for doing your part to stop the normalization of Thomas the tank engine after a certain age.
As a Thomas the Tank Engine found this just hurts my brain no henry was not left in the tunnel to rust away and die, he was let out in the next bloody episode. It always annoys me that people always claim that this is how it ends and he was left to rust there and die, no he wasn't he was let out in the next episode god dammit.
5972 is painted in West Coast Railways shade of maroon. The film's backstory 5972 was stolen after being built at Swindon and the wizards turned her into a magical locomotive so she didnt get powered by coal
Pre nationalisation, Kings Cross was/is LNER, not LMS. So not the right livery for the terminus either. A great western loco, in LMS livery, at an LNER station. If only they’d used Southern Rolling stock then all the big four would have been represented!

Love how he dislikes Thomas the Tank Engine for lack of realism, yet I like Thomas the Tank Engine for the presence of realism, most present in the original books.
Thomas the Tank engine, or the Railway Series, strived for as much realism as possible. And then the tv show kinda ruined that after the early days. Henry is fine, he came out the next episode.
The Rev Awdry adhered to true railway practice and rules and kept what the engines did in the stories within the realms of reality and not far fetched as the animated, CGI and everything else after series 4.
On that Thomas episode, why would Henry be punished, I thought his driver and fireman would be the ones recieving disciplinary action for refusing to work as they're the ones operating him.
I think that title would go to myself haha. Here in the US there are SEVERAL different production differences within a year during a specific locomotive’s production run. I take great joy in quizzing myself like rainbolt and finding the subtle differences between the engines (it could be something as simple as a door hinge being an inch off center). Point being there are people a lot like me who are called “rivet counters” who enjoy this stuff. To the public, all locomotives look the same. To us, we can nail down the exact month the locomotive was made based on some simple “spotting features.” It’s really fun!
Did you know the hogwarts express, 5972 oulton hall, was very nearly scrapped . It was rotting away in Woodham Brothers scrapyard Barry Island Wales before being saved for preservation . 293 locomotives went into the yard for breaking. 213 came out of the yard for preservation. This was due to the fact that goods wagons were easier for the scrap crew to break. The only reason some locomotives were scraped was to keep the scrap crew in work when there were no more goods wagons left . Steam preservation in the uk owes a thank you to Dai Woodham and his scrapyard .
