    Back in the day (I'm 79, so "back in the day" is probably before you were born Mikeybalz), a fellow writing about striped bass fishing used a hydrophone (underwater microphone) to understand if a bucktail jig made any sound when retrieved in water. To his surprise and delite the deer hair made a kind of "swishy staticy" sound when retrieved.

    The only hair jig I can get bit on is a shuttlecock. I have tried the TroKar because it is smaller but the fish just won’t bite it. I can bring it over a brush pile and they just crush it!! Awesome video, I’m out exploring ways to catch more on the shuttlecock

    I've been a fly tyer since i was 12. Looks like deer hair , but it may have some synthetic hair as well.
    Us old dogs knew sparse hair was always the ticket. Rebirth of the hairjig made this change timely. Show them something different.

    Yes, look up Preacher jig. Looks like a clone the shuttlecock. Plenty of how-to’s on preacher jigs. $13ea is pretty steep. Anybody who ties can make them after seeing the how-to.
    Black works good in Wisconsin, just a slow even speed and about 2/3 the size of the shuttlecock.

    I went to Guntersville for the first time. Stopped at a Shell station with tackle in it. They had 2 pegs full of the 5/8 oz Shuttlecock. I grabbed 1 and liked it. I am looking at some of you past videos to figure out what I did wrong. I had 1 bite the whole time.

    Jeff Bezos, Snoop Dogg, and world renowned badminton player Dan Lin are boarding a rocket to space. The security at the gate stops Jeff and says "sorry sir no drinks on the rocket" takes the drink and let's him board. Snoop found himself in the same situation for some weed and a lighter. When Dan Lin approached the guard said "sir i don't know what's in your pants, but you must remove all objects from your person before boarding" to which Dan replied "oh, no worries, its just my shuttlecock"

    Mikey, I completely understand if you have your reasons for not doing what I want to ask. So, with that, would you have any problem with showing us how you came to that specific spot where you caught them? What did the area look like on the graph? How did the fish appear on the graph to tell you to stop there? That kind of thing. Again, all good if you want to keep that part to yourself.

    I've used this technique for crappie in summer with a eagle claw red hook into a 1.5 inch pearl white tube bait.the near weightless glide of the bait doesn't spiral down but stays neutral flat as the legs of the tube shimmy softly down much like the shuddle cock!the 90degree line tie swims,swings,glides, and adds action to smaller baits that don't rock or have paddle tails.my favorite line tie whenever I can get away with it.nice info MB! Man- I own every bait made accept hair jigs- not one. Why? Because I very rarely fish shad lakes- everything I fish almost is a natural body of water- in north Alabama. They're not stocked or managed so- no shad. They're mostly bluegill and shiner forage- but crappie, catfish, carp, etc.- its all on the menu. So- should I own some hair jigs? I thought they were just for imitating shad but- now I'm wondering.
    Edit: Ouch! 13 bucks for a hair jig? And they only come in 5/8ths of an ounce- made for off shore fishing only apparently. I just don't do enough of that kind of fishing to warrant buying a 13 dollar hair jig. They are in stock though- according to TW's site.

    • @stoneysdead689
      @stoneysdead689 3 года назад

      @@Weekendairsoftwrrior Yeah I've seen them but- I rarely see anyone using them. I always see ppl using the white ones for shad imitations in deeper water. I guess I should just give them a go and see what happens- probably will. I need one about 1/4 to 3/8ths and in a green pumpkin, bluegill flavor.
