Had to come back here from just watching the newest ending where the Disney heroes combine their aspect powers to defeat a nameless villian.. Long have we gone from the true warcraft lore. I remember when some people got upset about SoO and said its not real warcraft lore, oh boy..

I've been having fun in DF but I've had enough of the we're all friends, we've just been through a lot of trauma, help me understand your feelings, etc etc. I started leveling a dark ranger through the forsaken starting zones and maaaaan we need some good ol fashioned alliance vs horde back!!

@@Daioblis Actually that's questionable if Varian would have died or not because even without WoD we still would have gotten Legion (Xavius could have summoned all the demons on the Broken Shore, so they didn't really need to make Gul'dan do it)
I think Varian has really evolved since Wrath. He's really gotten more development, both as a leader and as a character: He's actually working to unite the Alliance, contain the bad elements in the Horde and is even willing to give peace a chance. As he says here, Vol'jin now has the potential to be a better leader than Garrosh ever was, and he basically says: "We'll leave you alone, if you just don't screw this up."
Moreover, as the recent novels, and in-game interactions with Anduin show - he's put his tragic past behind.
I truly believe Varian is the leader we've been needing. He's evolved into the Good King he was meant to be, just as Vol'jin has turned into the Warchief that the Horde needs.

Voljin does nothing of importance, garrosh gets taken to a different draenor, creates the Iron Horde, attacks our azeroth, is defeated , then Legion comes and voljin is wounded and poisend from a random fel guard like a low level barren npc, moments before death in ogrimmar he has a vision of sylvanas to be the right warchief, so he proclaims her and she declares war on everyone by burning down teldrassil so saurfang starts a Rebellion and we Attack ogrimmar the 2nd time only to discover that Sylvanas has been working this whole time with a bald nipple guy from the realm of death and flies away in banshee Mode so we decide the Concept of a warchief is dumb and we will create some sort of supervisory Board for the Horde…..

"What a king must do!" has a very strong message... It's not about if Varian is stronger than all the horde leaders together or even stronger than just one of them. It's about making them respect him with his actions. It's about showing good will (by his request to stop the blood shed between horde and alliance), yet showing strong hand by "we will end you". They should know that he is a fucking KING at the end of the day and if something happens to him the whole of Orgrimmar will BURN.

But territory tensions in various places of the world (Alterac, Arathi, Ashenvale for example) have weakened the truce in Classic.
BC had almost strengthened it again, then the Lich King attacked, and Garrosh's quest for glory have reignited the tensions in Northrend.
In Cataclism Garrosh tensions escalated with the invasion of Gilneas and Ashenvale, the attacks in the Barrens and many other places, coming into a full scale war at the end.
Mists picks it up here, but you can say that Garrosh is the one that bullied the truce since Lich King, Varian's pigheadedness aggravated the all thing and what happened in Siege may be a relief after all this nonsense infighting

Varian is the strongest most epic character in WoW right now imo, so much character development since we first met him, he could of easily ordered the execution of the horde at this moment, the hordes entire army was split and two and severely weakened while the alliance remained strong but is allowing the horde a chance to redeem themselves, can't wait to see how this plays out.

People say it's not better than the ICC ending but you know i kind of loved this one.
Always liked Vol'jin and i like how he is humble and said he wasn't worthy. Just seeing everyone accepting his leadership and the Horde finally being on the road to recovery brings a tear to my eye :)

Thrall learned Common before he's learned orcish, Gallywix learned it because common is the trade language on azeroth, Sylvanas was once an elf and an ally of the alliance, like the bloodelves and Lorthemar. It's more a kind of a question, why these leaders besides Thrall speak Orcisch.
The only ones who had to learn common would be Vol'jin and especially Baine, since he never could have any contact to the races outside of Kalimdor.

If you think about it, technically it was the humans, Draenei, and night elves are at fault for the invasion of Azeroth. The Draenei gave into the demonic power first, then the remaining refugees of Argus led the burning legion to Draenor which resulted in the corruption of the Orcs. The Highborne (specifically Azshara) opened a portal for the first invasion using the Well of Eternity (War of the Ancients). Then Medivh (A human) opened the dark portal allowing the orcs to invade and cause the first war...So yeah, suck on that people who say the alliance is totally good and never done anything to jeopardize Azeroth.
Nu-uh, get your facts straight, lad.
Draenei never gave themselves to Sargeras, they're the exiled Eredar, who listened to Velen's warnings and didn't take demonic powers. Their run for life didn't result in corrupting orcs, it was meddling of Kil'Jaeden that did so. And Draenei weren't part of Alliance back then... It was like, thousands of years before first humans were born in Northrend...
Highborne were the ONLY high elves that ever wanted power of magic for themselves. Azshara was by then so deeply corrupted by Eredar that she, in fact, didn't actually think for herself, which made her evil nonetheless. That's not enitre race's fault, anyway. Oh, did i mention that they weren't part of Alliance back then, too?
Finally, don't overdo the humans. They had nothing to do as a race with coming of orcs to Azeroth. As such, Medivh was helpless as well due to the soul of Sargeras within, when it was implemented inside him while he was still unborn Aegwyn's child, who defended Azeroth from Sargeras' avatar. Pretty unwillingly and unknowingly he did open the Dark Portal. Still, human race had nothing to do with it. Besides, Medivh atoned for this. And he was neutral, as all Guardians of Tirisfal were.
It was the Horde who tore the peace apart after thousands years of struggle.
Then it was recently Garrosh, who nearly tore the "aight, we wanna get cool" Horde apart. Thrall was going in for peace, as was Varian. Then this big fella came in and screwed up, BIG TIME. Most of the orcs decided to follow him, oh I so wonder why?
Archid11 First of all, anyone that has played WoW and WC1-3, that pays attention to how the lore develops, should know that both player factions, Horde and Alliance are NOT inherently good or evil, or completely to blame for all the struggles that have ensued. So arguing over who is more at fault is pointless. The games and lore just show how things turn out from two different sides, or points of view.
So lets address the "point of view" you have with the Draenei first. Because there is more then one possible opinion when it comes to them.
1: I think what John Emond was getting at is Draenei are the same race and species as the ones that did follow Sargeras, on their original home world. Btw, Velen and his followers were by far a MINORITY that fled that whole deal.
Eredar = Draenei, so they are still the same when it comes to talking about the species. Its just a point of view thing. At the start anyway, the corrupted did change in appearance when Sargeras transformed them into demons.
2: This is fact however, not just a point of view. The lore states that Sargeras needed henchmen to lay his ground work, because the titans were watching him, knowing Sargeras was walking a thin line, but were not yet aware of how far he had fallen from grace... so to speak.
So you cannot deny that, if Kil'Jaedan and Archimonde (whom are Eredar/Draenei ) had not given into greed and lust for power as the majority of their species did, Sargeras' push for gaining entrance into Azeroths realm most likely would not have happened. The first or second time, sense KIl'Jaeden and Archimonde were the ones that spear headed both those events, for the most part.
So from that point of view the Draenei /Eredar are on the," oops sorry our people were kind of dicks in the past," list.... just like the Orc's are.
So the Alliance general opinion of:
"Lets hate the Orc's ,..... but the space goats / Kil'Jaeden's people, we're good with them".
....I mean.....really? Its kind of a double standard.

Although you got a point NEARLY right on humans, it's still wrong to call Draenei same to Eredar. Actually, as of now, there is no species called the Eredar. Only Man'ari or the Draenei. Man'ari are those who became corrupted by demonic power of Sargeras. Draenei, on the other hand, were cleased by Naaru's power. They actually differ from the original Eredar race, way more than it is with Blood Elves and High Elves... which are physically different as well, not just by skin tone or eye color.
So now why only nearly you were right on my "double standard": It was JUST one henchman. No more, no less. With orcs it was all but one freaking clan, whose leader paid heed to Ner'zhul after he got his eyes opened. Yep, it was Durotan. But the orcs invaded peaceful Draenei anyway, and slaughtered them, then pillaged Temple of Karabor. And they did it out of free will, just like Kil'Jaeden and Archimonde. Like, Draenei did nothing to them, i can't even...
I know humans are no good as well and they slaughtered forest trolls happily with small help from High Elves... but Draenei are still the most pure race on a freaking Azeroth.
Oh, and mindless slaughter is way worse than fighting a strong warrior, like Alliance did against the Trolls. But this still does make them good guys.

We can agree to disagree on them, because technically we are both correct from our different points of view. Eredar or Draenei, its all semantics. I know the Eredar are all demons as of now... :P
Orc's vs Draenei:
You are wrong about the Orc's however, in that you said the Orc's attacked the Draenei and looted their temple out of FREE will. Of that you are mistaken sir. That's a very one sided statement, making the Orcs seem like they are naturally hateful and violent. Which is not true.
This is a quote strait out of the Warcraft lore, for the Draenei history, I just copied and pasted it:
"After deceiving the orc chieftains into drinking the blood of Mannoroth, Gul'dan worked the orcs into a frenzy of bloodlust, and the newly formed Horde began slaughtering the peaceful Draenei, the demonic blood haze ever more compelling the Orcish horde to wreak havoc, and destroy all they set their gaze upon."
The only ones truly to blame for the attack on the Draenei were Gul'dan, Kil'Jaeden, the Pit Lord Mannoroth, and of course Sargeras. The Orcs were fooled and tricked into taking the demon blood, and did not completely understand what it would do to them. After the demons blood corrupted them they were basically just a weapon used by the legion, and Gul'dan.
You don't blame the weapon, you blame the one pulling the trigger.
The attack on the Draenei was instituted by Gul'dan using the "Blood Haze", which gripped the Orc's and pushed them into a psychotic violent frenzy. The effect demon blood has on Orc's is like a drug. It had them so amped up and bent on destruction, they attacked anything and everything they were pointed at. From that, its understood, they did NOT choose out of free will to attack the Draenei.
Does that sound like people that are thinking clearly, or could even stop themselves? Obviously the answer is, no. So obviously the Orc's are nothing like Kil'Jaeden or Archimonde. Saying that is just bashing the faction you don't agree with, because your looking for reasons to validate them as the "bad guys".. ;P

The entire species except the ones that went with Velen joined Sargeras, and were transformed into Sargeras' first full scale demonic invasion force.
So really??....JUST one henchmen? seriously? That is major understating how horrible they have effected not only Draenor and Azeroth, but many other worlds they have already conquered and enslaved. Especially Kil'Jaeden. Everything they have done makes the Orc attack on the Draenei seem like small potato's....and they even plotted that attack as well.
btw I have never said, the Aliance were bad guys. I have always said, both Horde and Aliance are neither good, nor bad. I simply prefer the Horde. I find the Alliance very sniveling, and petty with all of their politics and decision processes. Horde is much more to the point, and strait forward.( not to mention the horde side has cooler quests and plot developments.) Clan politics are more harsh, but they are simple and effective. Just like in the vid, Thrall was just going to smash Garrosh's head...but no, Varian had to have a say in it. Could have ended the issue right there...... I know, we need another expansion.

Love this cinematic, the Horde gets a war chief that is actually awesome, and the Alliance shows the Horde mercy in the form of a threat.
Next expansion is going to be so much fun, because we all know either Jaina or Sylvanas will push the Horde and Alliance into an all out blood bath

I didn't understand what my father was telling me then. I didn't understand the hardships of being a leader. My father taught me many things; strength, devotion, courage, but the most important thing he taught me was sacrifice. Without his sacrifice, the Alliance wouldn't have survived and our world wouldn't have been saved. His actions will echo throughout the ages and his roar will strike fear into our greatest adversaries.
Actually, Alliance can't do more than holding the horde.
Attacking Mulgore would piss Night elves,
attacking Tirisfall could make Sylvanas use all of her aces (plague of Wrathgate),
attacking Silvermoon would make Draenei angry (the Shattered Sun),
attacking Troll islands wouldn't do shit for 'em,
attacking Orgrimmar would be like attacking giant Sanik.
Alliance can keep winning bg's, but
orcs burned down Draenei's capital,

+Viktor Trojovský Nope, from a lore standpoint the Alliance is stronger. It controls allot more territory, it has a much larger population, it has a much stronger economy, it has FAR superior technology and is by FAR more politically stable. The Horde might be more baddass with cooler races. But anyone who has read the books would know that the Alliance would win a full out war. Why? Because it has beaten the horde time and time again.

The only one who would be capable of matching Thrall is Malfurion Stormrage and no one else would stand a chance, since Thrall is the earth-warder now and that leaves us with everything else and since horde has a lot of weapons capable of mass destruction and aces like Undead and etc.. Idk
Luky- so Thrall is not the earth warder anymore though. He only filled the void left by Neltharion to reunite the aspects. But when the aspects lost their' power, so did he. So he is back to being a regular shaman again. And I am not talking about the racial leaders, I am talking about the races themselves.
How has the Pandaren suffered most? Garrosh destroyed the horde and left Orgrimmar in ruin. He also nuked Theramore, and slaughtered countless Alliance. If anything the Pandaren suffered the least, and they live on a fucking paradise island.
He destroyed a prison-thing holding Y'Sharjjs' heart, and also gave rise to the Sha of Pride.
Besides many things I like in WoW. The psychological evolution of the characters (Jaina here, for example) is one of the best.
I'm shaking... That was awesome.

Its shown in War Crimes that the blue dragon Kalecgos has been acting as her psychologist/friend for a while now, so while shes still a bit unstable, shes not a warmonger anymore.

Oh you guys have no idea lol. I don't mean that in a rude way either. Read the new War Crimes book. Both factions kind of balance each other out. Jaina in this video is basically the equivalent of Sylvanas. Plus you can't argue that she doesn't deserve to be kind of evil towards the Horde when they destroyed her entire city and many people she loved and cared about. Now of course a lot of the Horde didn't know about the mana bomb, Baine even warned her about the attack because he believed it was just a normal attack. The new War Crimes novel sheds light on all of this, but it is a bit boring. Kinda like Law and Order: Azeroth edition.
Like I think Varian has changed a lot, and he doesn't label every member of the Horde anymore, and doesn't let his hate for some of them make his decisions for him. He is actually more of what Jaina used to be. Still I think there is good and bad on both sides.

you do know that every shitty calamity that has happened on azeroth since the dark portal opened was in some way shape or form the orcs fault or caused by some way shape or form by an orc..guldan nerzhul(the fucking lich king ffs) blackhand garrosh... and i could go on also the horde did draw first blood not saying the alliance is perfect either but the orcs are the ones who started alot of shit....
Truth is.. Orcs are here to fuck shit up! Long live the orcs damn it!

been away from WoW for quite some time now. Can anybody explain to me why Jaina's hair has turned partly grey and why she has become so fierce?
Garrosh Hellscream (the then warchief), abused the dalaran portals to sneak a big ass mana bomb into Theramore. The explosion was set off, Theramore was turned into a smoking crater (literally, in game), Rhonin dies, and Jaina is injured (apparently being super magey that she is, somehow survived) and as a result, her hair turned almost entirely white (presumably due to the magic of the explosion). For a few weeks during the event, I thought here hair was just buggy or missing textures.
***** Rhonin shoved her ass through a portal right before the mana bomb went off, which is the only reason why she survived it.

I never knew why she so Cray but her hair is mostly white because she had to fight a Demon/Dreadlord and he was to powerfull for her so this other mage that was jaina's idle gave her all of her power and jaina got some of her hair color..its weird i know xD.

Vol'Jin was the perfect choice to take the mantle of Warchief. Though, i must say my appreciation for Thrall has declined a great deal since his younger days. I felt genuine pride following him with a Horde character,but suddenly his shamanic path seemed to have taken all the prowess out of him. Sure,he has replaced his warriors repose with a more zen and spiritual way of life but...gah,not the same.
As for Garrosh, he had his moments of real respect, few as they were. It seemed more down to the crushing weight of his father's lineage that really set him off. Either way though, the future is wide open for both factions i suppose.
I just wish they'd kill Jaina. Going from blubbering, freakishly sweet optimist to cynical, hateful troublemaker.
You cant really blame Jaina for wanting revenge. She asked Thrall for help, he refused. Garosh bombed her city. Then Voljin asked Thrall for help and he didnt take long to agree. I think they are setting Jaina to eventually become the antagonist of a future expansion and they are doing it pretty well
In the new expansion Warlords of Dreanor Thrall will revise his role as a fierce warrior when he goes back to his roots of the old Frostwolf Clan and seeing his Father and cousins in battle, and he will be able to take his revenge on Gul'dan for everything he did, it will be exciting to see his progression of the path of the warrior he once was but still having his new role as the earth-wardem and keeping intact with his shamanistic roots
Then it's fortunate that they plan to put him back in his armor and truly motivate him to take up arms, by showing him his family relations in Warlords of Draenor.
After Cataclysm, i stopped playing because i lost interest in the story. But did Jaina do like a complete 180 in character? I dont remember her being one to press Varian to conflict with the Horde. Is she just a super hardass bitch now because Theramore was destroyed?
Well, there was that. Then the leader of the Sunreavers in Dalaran helped smuggle horde soldiers into Darnassus where the divine bell (a sha artifact) was being held. Then she got pissed when Garrosh hit Anduin, shattering his bones (though, he's healed before the siege obviously). So, she's lost faith in her old ideals and has a lot of distrust towards the Horde.
It's also a feeling of betrayal. She worked with Thrall so much to bring peace between the Horde and Alliance, then he puts Garrosh in charge of the Horde and Garrosh did all the stuff he did. Jaina blames Thrall for it.

She hasn't been corrupted by the sha.
guardiangarasu Well it wasn't Thrall's fault Garrosh was in charge, Thrall left to bring back order with the elements. By the time he came back Garrosh had built his stand among the horde.
The arcane magic that was released by the bomb in Theramore turned her hair gray, all but a single streak.
So we can all blame varian for warlords of draenor plotline.
