reckon there is more chance of Eddie McGuire winning the Brownlow as a SSP recruit for the Mugpies as their new star full back next year than there is of them winning the flag.
Hey Pommy, thanks for the interview with Swoop, 2 of my favourite footy experts together 😊👏👌👍 I'm in both of your camps about Lachie Schultz-an underrated player in the media-but is an absolute tackling machine & such a hard worker on the field. I really hope that he has the breakout season next year, that he wanted last year. I think the pies will be in the top 8 ad hopefully top 4 at the end of the home and away season next year & hopefully get through to the GF, you'd think with our pick ups in the trades, that we should be finals contenders. I think the same goes for your boys too. Should be top 8- top 4 & finals contenders as well
Thanks so much! Glad you enjoyed! Its a real exciting year, i think both of our clubs have secret media stories they are going to focus on, I love schutlz a solid player and someone who does the things that you dont get pundits for! Going to be a wild ride, hope to see Carlton and Pies in the Granny that is the dream
@PommyinOZ hey pommy, thanks for the response 😊👍 Yeah you could be right-a Carlton/Collingwood GF in 2025 would be awesome!! How do you thibk our clubs will go next year? What are your predictions for the Blues & Pies?
G'day Pom, I've said it to you before, pies going for it witout worrying for future. Nothing wrong with that if you snag another or two Granny's but the price will come three, four years down track. They have youth comimg through but percentages tell us a lot of these won't make it. The problem for Pies, three years on they turn into a one man Dacios side surrounded by two many alright players, reminds of crippa's baggers not so long back. Look at geelong losssing their captain, when Pendlebury goes, not sure we understand the football smarts hole he'll leave., Great chat with Luke, really enjoy listening to Luke even though he's a pie, great job by you both, Go Baggers.
Always a risky business. Going to be fascinating as us and them are gonna have their season under a microscope. If pies don't finish top 4 it's gonna be "should have hit draft" if we don't it's "should have got houston" the merry go round of afl what ifs will be rife 🤣🤣🤣
I still think Houston, AA player makes more of a difference to Collingwood in terms of need with the loss of Noble than it does with Carlton as saad, Boyd and Gov can still fulfill that HB role to a certain degree.
Outs at the end of 2025: Scott Pendlebury Steele Sidebottom Jeremy Howe Will Hoskin-Elliott Mason Cox Jamie Elliott Tom Mitchell Who will come in for them Tom McGuane Harry DeMattia Edward Allan Jakob Ryan Will Hayes Iliro Smit Harvey Harrison Then Brody Mihocek for Charlie West Jack Crisp for Tew Jiath (albeit not like for like) I suspect we have a plan
Players drafted past the second round in Collingwood’s last 2 premierships -Dane Swan -Ben Johnson -Nick Maxwell (c)-Rookie -Alan Toovey-Rookie -Heath Shaw-Father Son -Travis Cloke-Father Son -Sharrod Wellingham-Rookie -Darren Jolly-Rookie -Jarryd Blair-Rookie -Brent Macaffer-Rookie -Heritier Lumumba-Rookie -Tyson Goldsack -Nathan Murphy -Billy Frampton -Oleg Markov -Brody Mihocek-Rookie -Beau McCreery -Darcy Cameron -Mason Cox-Rookie -Jack Crisp-Rookie -Jack Ginnivan-Rookie -Josh Daicos-Father Son And only 5 First selections have premierships (Drew Banfield, Des Headland, Luke Hodge, Tom Boyd, Cam Rayner) Adam Cooney is the only number 1 pick with a Brownlow, never made a grand final High Picks ≠ Premierships High Picks don’t translate to a star team
I love the Pies, but at the moment this side doesn't look like a dynasty team. In comparison to the 2010 grand final team the current team just don't have the same quality in the midfield and back line. Even though the 2010 team were are a stronger and balanced team they still came runners up. Will Darcy Moore find form? Will DeGoey be fit? Will some of the aging bodies last an entire season? Will some of the new players fit in immediately? Is the forward line potent enough? There will be some heavy weights in the 2025 comp like The Lions, The Hawks, GWS and maybe the Swans. We have to somehow break their backs in a very tough draw. The Pies will not be as fast as these teams so it will be all about out skilling them. With so many unanswered questions at this point I'd give them less than 50% chance of winning a Grand Final in 2025 If they could play like the did in 2022 and 2023 it would be just nuts watching that style of football again. We need to really blow teams away with big margins. This is something we haven't been able to do for years.
My takes 1. We should prioritise youth to back up the older players 2. We should have dropped Markov sooner 3. It was important to get a guy to fill Nicks HBF void so he can be a full time mid, and someone to succeed WHE as a 1%er merchant Swiss Army knife as WHE is on his last legs My positives 1. I would say Pendlebury is more Federer or Valentino Rossi than Ronaldo 2. Nick is further from his ceiling than fellow Brownlow protagonists Bontempelli and Cripps being younger 3. McInnes looks like he found his niche in the off season, I thought it a tad earlier knowing he looked up to Jordan Ridley 4. The kids showed great progress in their development especially First rounders Edward Allan and Harry DeMattia in the reserves before the former followed it through in the big time My pass mark in 2025: Second week in Finals
@@PommyinOZ I saw on Jen’s feed that the team were practicing mindfulness during today’s training so it’s good to see that they’re investing time into calibrating the cognitive and psychological aspect of the game especially at a level where mental ability is vital
@@PommyinOZCharlie West said he modelled his game on Charlie Curnow, the physical comparisons are there, strong, prolific in the air, manoeuvrability and very active and skilled in contests, Curnow has a better tank but West is a tad faster (albeit being strong and able to run fast is a very rare combination) Disclaimer: This is just a comparison of their frames and how they use them and not a comparison of their actual football abilities
You can't compare Pendlebury with Harvey Harrison. Can't compare Sidebottom, Elliott, Mihochek, Hoskin Elliott, Howe to a first year or second year unknown player.
Collingwood at worst will lose 8 experienced players at the end of 2025. The best case scenario for the Pies is only lose five from retirement next year. Either way Collingwood's depth & experience will be significant after 2025. Last real big opportunity for a Premiership for five years at least. Pies must win at least 14 games next year.
But honestly there is about 10 ,12 clubs that can win in 2025 and brisbane lions will find it harder to win back to back flags not many can do that but footy is a funny game these days and every strong clubs are getting stronger.
Pommie my fantastic hawks are a danger for premiership glory in 2025 they are stronger than last year and will be just as determand than last year to prove that last year was no fluke to where they just missed out in the big one .
Hey pommy :) great video again. i was wondering if you caught the EPL highlights? Voss was watching tottenham, 0.29 seconds in ruclips.net/video/uCSKHGATims/видео.html. i wonder what that means? tactical work?
He should've sat next to Arnie Slot at Anfield instead of Roy Hodgson and Ange as much I love Ange. Unfortunately spurs don't leave you with much inspiration.
You two blokes do a great job working off each other Pom 👏👏👏👏👏 keep it coming boys well done!
Keep swooping Luke 😉
Appreciate that mate, plenty more to come.
Great video Pom, I’m excited for what we can do in 2025 with our new additions 🙏🏻

Teams have always built sides around their stars. They have plenty of young talent coming through, not sure if you watched the video.
