This is honestly one of the best bouldering videos I've ever seen. It's almost like you've discovered a new medium. You're not pandering to the novice or to the sponsor (aka cool kid sex appeal cuts), instead it feels like you've recreated the session environment for the viewer, something that all climbers understand and appreciate - we feel part of the process. Finally, you've blended that session feel with a diary feel, which helps us empathize with your personal process and demons. Goddamn, good stuff y'all.
Yo what a great comment, thank you! As a filmmaker it is really helpful to hear what connects with people. That way we can try and capture that feeling more often. Thanks for you analysis👌I'm very excited you liked the film. -Jake
Hello Jake and Kyle! My name is River, and I am a very passionate outdoor boulderer! I just wanted to say you guys are awesome, and I have been loving all of your videos! I’m 17 years old, been climbing since I was 15, and have sent multiple outdoor V9s so far… I love Bishop so much, and also go to Red Rocks, Tramway, Black Mountain, and Joshua Tree; I hope we meet someday! 😊 Keep it up guys! 💪🏻
Thanks for the kind words, River! We travel around a lot so I'm sure you'll see us some time! Hope on our discord, we often post what bouldering areas we are visiting (and when) on there. -Kyle
My buddy just sent me this, was my first video I've seen of yours, and wow could not have picked a better one to start on! What a journey!!!! Congrats big time
I've been watching climbing vids since the mid 90s - which was also when I first went to bishop - and still watch even though I had to retire 5 years ago. Your content is up there with some of the more watchable stuff. Well done.
Hey dude, I wanted to echo the same sentiment as the last post... This was enjoyable to watch for so many reasons. Very good storytelling (most important), excellent climbing, and very well shot footage. Agreed, more enjoyable than the overwhelming majority of all climbing films I have seen recently. Love it dude.
There's a lot of video's on this climb but this one tops it. What a beautiful story, journey. The good ole weep at the top, beautiful. What a sick climb. Super sick.
Awesome, really enjoyed this one!! Crying on top I know the feeling, hopefully it didn’t happen while you were still climbing up that slab. Ticking off one of those lifetime climbs is a unique feeling. Putting a decade into something that ultimately only takes 5 minutes to complete is something that most people won’t understand, but to those that know there is no explanation needed. #iykyk
I loved this boulder video! All the other Evilution videos short-changed the difficulty of this problem, but your up-close examination of the individual holds really gets across the challenge climbers have to overcome to get to the top (not to mention the side shots of the profile showing the overhanging nature of the climb!). Also, telling the history of the climb and your documentary approach helps contextualise the entire process. Kudos to you and keep up the good work. I look forward to your next release.
I’m pretty new to climbing but getting obsessed fast and just went on my first outdoor trip (to bishop). As soon as we parked and looked up I saw the chalk on this line and I was just speechless by the insanity of this route. Congrats!
Why do you all try to stick the landing when you drop? Watching it hurts my knees… anyway, sick content, loved getting to preview this thing before a trip to bishop (dream boulder)
I'm down with Jake's year count, 2020 isn't included! Loved seeing your beta! That left heel looked so good. Honestly, a top to bottom great video! Massive congrats on this send Wishing a speedy recovery to Kyle!!
Congrats! That must have felt amazing after all of that preparation! Next year for Kyle! Ummm... rookie question, but how do you get down?? Lol! (And the video was awesome btw!)
Thanks! The way off this one is a free solo down the backside which is pretty easy, but tougher when you're blinded by tears in your eyes and overwhelmed by emotion 😂 Our "Footprints" video features the downclimb of this boulder for those interested. -Jake
You guys probably already know this, but Esther Smith and Dave McLeod have some good stuff on rehab. Also I’ve read about specialists creating a pulley ring that can help
I legit enjoyed this more than half this year's Reel Rock films.
YOOOO! ❤
1000% agree

Awesome video. Major bummer for Kyle, just hearing that snap was painful. Props to him though for staying stoked for the bro.
Honestly, I owe it all to him ❤
-Jake
I snapped my pulley end of last year, hearing that pop in the video made me relive that.
So good!! Congrats on the mega send and great video

Thank you very much! I hope you enjoy the rest of our vids, though admittedly none are as epic as this one, nor could they ever hope to be.
-Jake
love the pan-out shot at 19:00 .. must've been an amazing feeling. huge congrats brother
Thank you ❤
-Jake
I watched the send go twice, the first time I became so distracted and then locked into everybody else rebuild the landing pads.
Awesome work dude!
Shoutout to my spotters! Could not have done it without them.
Really enjoyed this, probably the most aesthetic and pure boulder line I know! Congrats for the send, definitely a lifetime benchmark!

Thank you for your kind words, they mean a lot.

Hell yeah dude, congrats! That was amazing. Incredibly inspiring. I can only imagine what you were going through sitting atop the boulder.
Thanks! It was surreal. I kept thinking, did that actually just happen??

What a sick climb. Super sick.
Absolutely amazing!!! Fucking sickest boulder in the country, I think. And definitely a dream send. Great job and great video!!!
Agreed, agreed, agreed, and thank you!
-Jake
SO SICK! It's hard to tell what got wetter, my eyes or my tips.
10/10 video! Good vibes, genuine edit, blood loved the shooey at the end.

Incredible to watch.. was holding my breath as you breached the lip. What a feeling at the top, great job.
This was so well done. Congrats on the send! I really enjoyed the climbing and emotions. Hopefully your pulley friend is healing well.

Great video. You guys make some of the best climbing content on RUclips.
Incredible. Stoked to have an amazing beta reference on this now. Wishing Kyle a strong recovery!
Yoooo Max thank you so much for the footage!!

My face watching this video was the same face Jake made at the top 😭 fucking SICK SEND BRO
I’m pretty new to climbing but getting obsessed fast and just went on my first outdoor trip (to bishop). As soon as we parked and looked up I saw the chalk on this line and I was just speechless by the insanity of this route. Congrats!

Fantastic vid. Big congrats
Love the beta! Short beta FTW! Hope to see you guys in bishop some day!!
Shoey send is the ultimate top off
Quality vid, gets me real psyched.
Truly inspiring. I hope I have the same reaction at the top of a mega proj one day. Congratulations, it was well earned.
This thing is fucking sick! Congrats on one of the greatest sends anyone can ever dream of!
I've peaked. It's all down hill from here 😂
-Jake
@@BadWaterBouldering Nah man, you still gotta do Ambrosia! Then you can say you've peaked :p
Great vid, cheers.
superb problem and editing ;d

Corngrats, I'm inspired
damn boy! life lister for me too
sick bro
good job man.
vamos hombre, eres un crac
sooo fucking sick! epic send!
Congrats!! That was fuckin sick
It is sick!
Nice send dude! Just curious was that Dan Beall moving pads? I feel like he's in every video on this boulder, projecting The Process.
Nah that was my buddy Nathan, but we did see Dan out there a bunch. I helped him put his bumper back on his van 😂
-Jake
the tried and true "itll be easier without a rope"
Came for the climb, stayed for the shoey
Doesn't get any sexier than that! Congrats!
Littttto 🔥🔥
Jason didn't go straight up because the direct line was choss up top. The left line was cleaner at the time.
I guess that's what I always thought. Going straight up on rancid rock would be a bad idea. Good clarification.
-Jake
I bet that felt incredible, such a lifetime climb. How is Kyles finger doing?
Better every day...
You guys probably already know this, but Esther Smith and Dave McLeod have some good stuff on rehab. Also I’ve read about specialists creating a pulley ring that can help
Just got my first pair of climbing shoes today your videos fuck heavy brother
Fuking sick
That's pretty fuckin sick.
Hey Jake, turns out you're in good company because apparently Shawn stole your left-heel hook beta for his send of Devilution!
Let's go Shawn!! Such an impressive send by the Steezy Bailey, I looked at those first moves in person yesterday, and they look insane.
-Jake
hell yea dude. i'm inspired.
That is actually an amazing compliment thank you!
bro how did you get down
There is a long slab on the backside. So, slowly and carefully! 😅
-Kyle
@@BadWaterBouldering yeah we were just in bishop and we were trying to find the down climb, it looks sketchy!
@@lorabielaga6164 It's not so bad, if you can get up, you can definitely get down 👍
Une ascension qui marque une vie...Bra-vo
oh god not the finger pop
evilution is 40 ft
too big to flail is 49ft
We never measured it, just took the height off Mountain Project.
-Jake
Next time we'll bring a ruler
