Always a new gun mat. Always a new picture in the back ground. Always amusing to watch and listen to your dry comedy. This has become a new favorite channel of mine. Great job!
As a licensed Ham Operator, I also have a GMRS license and radios. I do enjoy the opportunity to play radio with the Peasants.🙃
You shouldn't call HAM radio operators peasants.. It might hurt their feelings.

Dennis it's real sad that you feel the need to insult people cause you can't fit in like you creepy hams always do in the ham radio community. Why come to this guy channels to spreed your manure.?.
Great review as always, Randy. I'm glad to see another company making an all-in-microphone style radio other than Midland. I wish Wouxan would also take a swing at this style. I feel this kind of radio is the best fit for my vehicle (Subaru Forester) given the available dash space. I also hope that BTech or Wouxan make a 50W version, too. Perhaps by the grace of Zenu they will hear my prayer...? 🙏
I was nervous when I first purchased this on Amazon few weeks ago because the number of reviews were relatively low at the time. Also because I am new to GMRS radio and this was my very first radio purchase. This video makes me sleep better at night. Thank you.
Leave a review on amazon lol i have it in my cart but havent pulled the trigger yet
@@photographywithbrallan1247 same here.
What was the final verdict? Worth it?
Quick tip. You can buy Velcro in 2x4 pieces. That’s almost the exact size of the radio mounting bracket. I use the Velcro to attach my radios and other equipment in my vehicles. The Velcro holds really well, and can be removed. Unlike screws that leave permanent holes. Just a suggestion for you all. And another awesome video. Although it’ll make me buy yet another GMRS radio i don’t need. 😢
Gay Velcro is better... 3m unisexual, hell I don't know what they call it, but it's awesome.

I like how you talk so the sad hams to keep up.
We do need an Australian version of this channel
As your favorite viewer…..you never disappoint Randy. 👍
That’s why I watch your videos your straight up honest in all your videos
Another great review. Oh, and I love the shirt!! :~)
Great review. I appreciate the diligence on the power test using 12v vs 13.8v.
Great review Randy! Your vids always highlight my day..
Glad you reviewed this. Been considering getting one for my CJ2A due to it's IP rating and being able to hide all of it under the dash when I dont need it mostly for looks purposes.
Randy... killing me with the pause!!! I did miss the finger pointing me to where the affiliate link is located... I will search for it later!
Edit - I just had to wait until the end of the video... the wait was worth it. Thanks!
My king has released a new video and I bask in his GMRS sagacity.
Own this and installed in my truck, pretty happy so far.
update?
u killing me.. awesome video.. had to order several for the gator and 4x4 mule. i believe i am a GMRS JUNKIE!! but i love it!!! thanks again for a great video review
One of the best RUclipsrs ever. Thanks for your time and effort
a great review of the 20v-2 Thank you randy.I am going to see your link on getting my gmrs license .
You never disappoint.
Wow! An exceptional host! Thank you for your kind hospitality!
I just got my GMRS licence call letters today. Can't wait to get into GMRS radio.
Been watching for a long time (from my personal account). I think you may have reviewed my next radidio. I am space constrained in a Bronco Sport and this looks to fit the bill. Thank you sir for your candor, reviews, knowledge and humor.
Right now I have a Baofeng UV5G and it works … well one of the pair does. But then again… for the price I consider that a win.
New to your channel. Came across you while looking at reviews for the Midland MXT275. Picked one up for my Tacoma, about to do my first overland trip out to MOAB with my brother. Love the content been watching all your back content since.
So many fars can be gained my watching everything
I've been waiting on your review before committing to a purchase.
Always make me laugh while I learn. Thanks!
I just bought this radio, a Nagoya UT-72G, and the programming cable. This will be my first mobile GMRS...been running HT's for a couple years around here.
Thanks for the review. Hopefully mine will push closer to 20w!
How is it going? You happy with it?
you are dammed hilarious in your videos. Great content and the pauses for effect are awesome. Great info.
Cant use it here but still was entertained by the king of GMRS!😉👑👍
Rush would be proud at the 1:00 mark. Randy has obviously been “loaned” some of the talent!
Mr snerdly disagrees...
Thanks for another great review!
New to GMRS
20 watt radio vs 50 watt radio I've heard there's not a lot of difference I like this radio as It can be mounted under the seat but I don't want to lose out buying a 20 watt radio when I should have gotten the 50 watt. Your video's are great and to the point thank you.
There is not a lot of difference in fars between 20W and 50W in most cases.
Thanks! Great information. Just bought this radio to mount in my 4Runner.
Thank YOU!
Thank you so much for this very helpful and informative video!!
I only stick around because YOU told me
... That, ' I'm your favorite fan/ viewers.'
Can't wait for bath time with my BTech 20V2. A little 'rinse and repeater'. 🎙️🛀
🤣🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣
Like put it in the shower on suction cups 😂😂😂
Lmao this is actually pretty funny
I love this guy
Just got this little gem and it is great!!! The interface is brilliant. Hopefully they drop a VHF/UHF version too!!! Love that everything is hidden away!!!
Still happy with it? Is it worth while?
Best Tee shirt ever!! Thanks to all our family and friends who put up with us.
Very informative, thank you!
Thanks for the review
Your majesty, thank you for your wisdom as always. I am heading to spend my moneys right now! … to mount it on a golf cart! A wild, golf cart! No, it is not street legal and I don’t play golf.
Long live the King of GMRS radio.
Been waiting for this one
Yyyeeeeaaaahhhh...I'm going to need you to come in on Saturday and get those TPS reports done. Uuuummmkkkkaaayyyy
Just picked up my first one
I wanted to love this thing, but it went back to Amazon after a couple weeks. Having to open the squelch to change the volume was annoying but I guess I could put up with it. The speaker was quiet and it was always up at max volume (and had to hold it up to my ear half the time) and then after a couple weeks, the squelch stopped working in that it would almost never open (even with REALLY strong signal) unless you hit the Monitor button.
Replaced it with a DB20-G and have had a much better experience.
"yeah listen.... I'm gonna need you to come in on the weekend... yeah, that would be great" lol, love your different framed photos on your walls, ha
just checking, but you know they came out with a new TPS report?
I have been waiting for this review. I have been thinking of installing this in my 02 Exploder Sport Trac
+1 for the Exploder
I Love You, Man! Keep pumping out more videos. Another great radio choice, but after buying the overpriced programming cable, it's not the greatest value. I'll save for a kg1000g, personally! I get the small waterproof nonsense, so a motorcrosser should buy it
I had very high hopes for this radio because I love its form factor. I wish it actually put out 20 watts like advertised though.
Maha Randy I salute you.because You! Are My Favorite Randy
I’d like one for a GMRS home base station 👍
Just got mine in the mail today. Can’t decide if I want to build a micro base station or upgrade my kg935g car set up.
Thank you El Rando for your wisdom on the navigation of the FCC website. Without it It truly was a pain in the bitch ! Another great video! Thanks again !
I was wondering when you'd review this!
love the review, really want to add some of the parts to my wish list
do you have an affiliate link below?
I've been looking at this radio for my Honda Pioneer. Almost pulled the trigger on it a couple times. Glad I didn't since the transmitting power is a lot lower than advertised. I actually emailed BTech and asked them about this discrepancy. They responded with, despite what you say, their radios transmit at 20 watts. I honestly would prefer a radio that could transmit at at least 25 watts, but I would settle for 20 watts. Not 12 watts.
Yeah, I was thinking the same thing but you know, I think they do this due to the small size. I've heard that other small mobile radios have problems overheating if they put out too much power.
Yeaaaaa… I’m gonna need them TPS reports
Was considering the XS20G 🤔
Thanks!
Thank YOU!
Thanks Randy! This is perfect for our side x side. Just ordered from your ....... 'affiliate links below'
Just got mine today. I immediately put it on the Surecom SW-102. BTECH must have fixed the problem because I was getting 19.2 - 18.1 watts on the high channels.
I love your dry sense of humor… 😆
I bought this model radio a couple of weeks or so, ago. It has better features than the Midland offerings, but two things will likely not see it mounted in my car. It is apparently devoid of a front end, possibly as a result of having a Direct Conversion receiver, or as Randy says, "a super homodyne" receiver. Picks up tons of noise, intermod, and other unwanted stuff, even driving late at night through our capital city. The other, as I understand it, is the "speaker" jack. As I understand it, subject to correction, you cannot just plug in a standard external speaker on this radio as you can with most. It uses odd non-standard plugs which DO give you the advantage of plugging into your car's sound system, but a regular external speaker, not so much. Also, using the car's sound system is likely a PITA if you turn off the engine while listening. I haven't tried it but that is my estimation of how things would likely play out.
Great review as always!
I hope they do this in a 50w. It would be a fantastic replacement to my Midland.
That’s a nice radio
I have the ham version of this radio. The volume controlling functions are a pain in the back side.
Nice to know I could drop it in the tub and have no issues. Looks like the perfect radio to mount in my shower.
THIS is why I come to the comments. Shower G U N and shower radio. Now that's livin'!
Great review as usual. Also, you forgot to put a cover page on your TPS report…
Its not that he forgot Bob, its that he just doesn't care lmao!!!!!
Enjoy your videos...funny stuff too! Question: Have you done a review of Rugged Radio mobile units? And...the other dreaded question that I am sure you hear too often...What mobile GMRS radio do you recommend for a SXS? (I do currently have a Baofeng UV-9G, but we can't hear it in the machine...and the "fars" aren't so far)
Would love to compare this with the Retevis RA86.
Hey Randy, I wonder if the power output on channel 1 and channel 16 was identical because although the channel numbers are far apart, the frequencies are actually quite close? Channel 1 and 16 are closer in frequency than channel 1 is with 2. Thanks for doing what you do.
Whoa! I never heard of the B-Tech GMRS 20V2 - I got the B-Tech GMRS v.2.0 - Ah! I see. I saw the picture. 20Watt Ok I got it. Nice radio
I have one it’s a decent little radio
I'll just plug CHIRP software. If you have a radio that you want/need to program, and it is supported by CHIRP ({cough} Yaesu-better check! {cough}) it is probably worth the investment in time to get the free software and the few dollars to get the appropriate cable. This is especially true if it is a radio you are going to change often - say take on trips where there are different configurations from your "home" area. I've used CHIRP even from a small Raspberry Pi 4B.
Hey Randy, if you get the time, would you care to do some reviews on some handheld Mobile radio mounting options?
Hilarious and thank you for the great info
I think the non-dedicated volume controls to be a YYYUUGGGEEE FUBAR on what would have been a great setup!
i would love to see this radio ( btech gmrs 20v2) go head to head with the wouxun kg-xs20g. i am about to make my first purchase of a gmrs and would love to see what the differences is as well as getting your "professional" opinion. if you dont do ill still watch you but ill be deeply hurt. almost as bad as the "sad ham." cheers and thanks for breaking my heart or making my week!
I like the form factor of this radio, and even at 14w, it would be a bump up from the HT I use mobile at the moment. Does anyone know if there is an extension cable available for the mic? It would be great to mount the radio under my seat, but I'm not sure the supplied cable would be long enough for the mic to be mounted at the dash. As always, thanks for the great content Randy!
that's the perfect shirt for you to wear
Rubber ducky your the one you and BTech will be so much FUN (Function) Love the Manyouwell ! Not the first time you called us idiots but now that you have fingered that out can we just move on to SAD HAMES 🤣
By the way. Thank you for the link to the step by step link to getting your GMRS license. Feel free to link to the top 😂
Maha-Randy!! Anyone else compelled to count the radios behind him on every episode?
I wish your videos were longer
You need the EIY Golden Microphone
@1:53 I felt a little tingle as if you were looking into my soul.
That would work really nicely on my motorcycle! The power limitation is a bummer. Are there any other good weatherproof mobile stations with controls on the mike?
Check out the MXT-575.
Hey NotaRubicon just wondering if you could post a picture of where you have your antenna mounted on your Jeep?
How does this compare to the Retevis RA86? They seem pretty much the same except the BTech costs $30 more and you also have to buy a programming cable, which the Retevis comes with.
MAGA-Randy, I love the Rush references!!!
Huba-jaba-hertz, love it.😅🤣😂
Good content, but man, I get a confusing feeling after watching your videos... the infatuation with comments is next level... LOL
Thanks for the info. By the way, where is Chris?
14W vs 20W may not make a huge difference in real-world performance but it is 30% less or about 2dBm - if you're trying to get a certain performance, and selecting your feed line and antenna that's a lot of variability to account for. Maybe they can't afford a Farsometer 2000? Are they just making stuff up?
Just kinda how Btech and Bofeng works. Maybe I should try some of thoes from China that advertise 120Watts, I think there was even one advertised at 1200W.
Lol
I cannot figure out how to input frequencies for recceive only so I can scan area fire and ems without running another radio or scanner in my car, any insight from you would be greatly appreciated.
It seems that not only is it a SOC-type radio, but it is also a NRB (no Roger Beep) radio.
Will this particular radio let me communicate with the moon base? I asked on another video about if the UV-5R could but no reply. I need one.
Thank you for another informative video. Please sharpen your pencil, my OCD is going crazy.
Can the fm radio be playing and be cut put when transmitteing and receiving ?
