- Today we continue with the Operator Series: GMRS-PRO. In today's video, we will be using the 2x BTECH GMRS-Pro to demonstrate how to ping and navigate (small demo) to a partner using a GMRS-Pro. A few key notes which we discuss in the video is that both radios need to be on the same Simplex Channel (You cannot use Repeater Pairs) to send and receive the data bursts.
If you do not yet have a GMRS-Pro you can get one from BTECH: baofengtech.co...

+1 - good explanation on the GPS. Thank you. Haven't bought this one yet, but thinking about it.
Glad it was helpful! It's a great radio. Two of them you really can use all the features but having a single unit still gives you GPS, on the go channel editing, etc.
Very informative, thanks for the video. I just got a pair of these radios and programming with the app has been easy at times and frustrating in others. Looking forward to more videos like this one!
Glad it helped
The Garmin Rino series does great GMRS positioning. But, is insanely expensive for the average outdoor user. I have the PRO too, but no one I hunt with does, so it is really just a radio only. Hopefully the situation gets better.
Totally agree! But it is moving in the right direction.
Having Garmin Rhino couldn't be worst.... It´s a $600 garbage...
Good explanation of how the GPS installed on the radios communicate from radio to radio. Hope you show how they send the information to your phone or tablet and place an icon overlayed on a map. What distances are you getting radio to radio ?
Good suggestion I will note it. As for range it’s about the same as other GMRS radios depending on obstructions.
Good video not a lot of people would know about that feature
Thank you for the support.
I’m new to GMRS. What is the radio you feature? Do both radios need to be the same model? I’m missing some key info here.
This is the BTECH GMRS-Pro. It’s an amazing GMRS radio with added digital features. You do need at least 2 or more to use the digital features but not to talk to other GMRS users.
I'm going to get the RT 490 radio and I need to look into it and see if it has that feature or if it's real time thanks for your video
Thank you for the support.
I’m still trying to decide between the (older) BTech GMRS PRO vs (newer but pricier) Wouxun KG-Q10G!
For me the ability to leave it on inside of my backpack and mostly control it with my phone (my iPhone has worse app version with no PTT and audio, android has a better app), with audio and PTT outside the pack using a K1 ear piece is the selling point over the Wouxon. Also the price is nice! I think we’ll see more radios using the GMRS-PRO APRS format as well. There’s a ham radio by radiodity that has the same guts as the GMRS-PRO with extremely similar features. I have an idea on how to test cross-talk between those two radios by using the dual channel system that would be law abiding.
HAM to GMRS is possible whenever you have a dual channel radio. Basically the HAM radio transmits on a frequency that it’s able to while listening to a GMRS channel and a GMRS radio does the inverse. That would enable a hiking group of HAM and GMRS people to all talk together assuming everyone is using radios with dual channels. The TD-H3 is a very cheap radio that supports this for example.
@@alexjamesmalcolm - Thanks for the info! That is excellent advice and insight!
Have you experienced any problems with the radio not stopping on transmissions on channels 15-30 while in scan mode? Mine doesn't seem to stop for transmissions on those channels!
Np I haven’t. Are you on the latest firmware?

Great video. I just got a pair.
Do you know if it is possible to show the ID of the radio transmitting when it receives a transmission?
Not true. Gps works over a repeater. They lied i guess
Why do I need this?
No flashlight?
Flash light sucks anyways
To find your buddy who has spotted a nice buck. Find your lost spouse whilst hiking. Find your way back to camp.
You should have a proper flashlight already. 👌
Man! Without all the rules and regulations of the fcc, these could be awesome radios. There’s no money in it for them though….
Very true.

Big thanks
