The boys getting girls to do their makeup was so real. My school was doing mamma mia, and I was stage managing, but was pulled to do the guy’s makeup because they didn’t know how…
Last year for the stinky cheese man (so some people had nice and complicated stuff, animals and such) we had one makeup person for a lot of the rehearsal process and we ended up doing one show with only two. And that was for both the boys and the girls. And ofc the main makeup person was also helping with a lot of the quick changes and all that. And had to leave the dressing room for the guys' makeup, so they had to all make sure they were coordinated enough to be out at the right times. It was absolutely insane.
My costar, who I'd always get my makeup done with (because we're two uneducated men when it comes to makeup) he has the most sensitive nose and would jump whenever they'd touch it, so they would have to do his makeup about 3-5 time because it would smudge when he'd jump. It was a funny but stressful time in the makeup room.
I vowed never to be that guy, and then I went from being the music director for a show to being the lead literally 75 hours before we opened (long story, we were simply out of cast members) and, being legally blind without my glasses (couldn't wear them for the role) and completely inexperienced with makeup, I had to have the assistant director do it. All of that to say... the rest of the cast teased me anyways. Boys, learn to do your makeup even if you don't think you'll have to
As a female who has never worn make up, I used to join the boys queue to have lipstick applied when I did a Performing Arts Diploma show. I then went on to study stage management so didn't need it. Now at almost 50......I have skin which regularly gets compliments, and I am told I don't look my age........because I haven't used make up, putting that chemical crap on my face!! Doesn't matter to me, as I am not shallow!
ok but the girls doing all the guys makeup thing is so fun! my sister got recruited to help do all the guys makeup and she said it was one of the highlights of the production for her. I especially love when you have to put their hair in the little unicorn ponytails to keep it out of their faces!

I finally got a legit lead in my school play this year AND it was my favorite play, and then I got sick for the entirety of tech week so I couldn’t perform and I had to watch my stage manager go on in my place, so I needed this compilation for moral support😭

7:14 it is literally impossible to do improv exersises with these type of people! like yes improv usually takes a turn and you have to work with it, but at least keep it a little bit realistic!
Ugh it was so fricking annoying I was trying to do a normal one and this girl gave the theme of a demon doing some random shot like.... WHERE THE HELL AM I SUPPOSED TO GO WITH THAT
Our opening night is Tomorrow and half of the techies walkie talkies weren't working at our dress rehearsal so I kept trying to talk to people and our poor stage manager kept going over the wakie and saying "guys I know everyone is fine and dandy seeing as I am not fine or dandy" and it was absolute CHAOS afterwards

Honestly, some of the singing in Scamilton wasn’t that bad. I mean the message was..well.. and there were some rough moments but I’ve been in musicals that were much worse (minus the script edits lmao)💀

The theatre kids at my school wish the band kids dead, they say that the stage belongs to them and when the band teacher (new teacher btw) put chairs out so who knows how his concert is going to go, the theatre kids got mad because they couldn’t rehearse their number and now that wish that we don’t do concerts in the theatre even though it is called the performing arts theatre not just the theatre center

It's also really REALLY dance heavy, and so that makes it kinda difficult when there aren't a lot of dancers/people with dance experience in the cast.
