Hey Russ, my 2yr old granddaughter loves watching Rvertv with me. Every time you say " I'll be back in a minute" she says "Ok".
too cute... I will remember that !!
Beautiful country! Your wrong turn was worth the drive, the cliffs were impressive! Thanks for sharing!
hi Chris
If you're going to take a detour, that is very pretty place to do it. You're not lost, You're just exploring new roads. LOL. Really enjoying these vids.
You need the Good SAm Rand Mcnally RV GPS it gives you 10,000 things besides directions. I really love mine
Madras sounds like MADras, fyi. Very familiar area and the wife wants to move to Bend/Redmond vacinity. I had coffee at some outside patio in downtown Bend. I was amazed at the amount of beautifual wimmen.
Not all who wander are lost. Nice scenery.
thank you !!
Russ, those "pine trees" along the road in Bend and points north, are Juniper Trees. The big Ponderosa Pine trees are west of Bend from the Deschutes River West. They get more rain fall. They need around 15-16 inches of moisture per year. The Juniper can live with 10 to 11" of moisture. Your side trip on Hwy 26 took you to the Warm Springs Indian Reservation. The river was the Deschutes, it gained size from a couple rivers running into it. Glad you enjoyed our area. BTW 100 degrees for Bend and Redmond would be a record. Mostly in the mid 80's. It was 41 last night in Terrebonne which is just north of Redmond. It provides "air conditioning" for us, but we need a sweater or sweat shirt until about 10 am. Hope to see you back this again.
Yes a must see someday.nice city.
Pretty country. I've never been to Oregon . I thought that it was all trees & such.
The "smaller pines" that you are referring to are actually Juniper trees. Going North from Bend, there is a Juniper Forrest. The pine trees are located in the higher elevations. As you go North or East of Bend, the topography becomes more arid and High Desert like.
That's ok, my mom and dad always missed the turnoff to Eugene and ended up in Springfield.
Very nice. I think I like hwy 26. Looked really pretty with the river. But you're right, love the 97. Although we've never driven it. I believe after watching your videos we'd for sure give it a try. Safe travels to you
its worth the time to go see
Nice side trip; the canyon was a bonus to see! I like that kinda miss take.
a scenic oops
I've never been to Oregon, yet it looks just as beautiful as everyone has always said it is. Bend is becoming more populated by the day. Big hot spot these days.
Nice little side trip on Hwy 26 you were headed right toward Mount Hood. That is really good gas mileage you are getting, the 36 foot motor home would be getting around 5 miles to the gallon but obviously more comfortable. Pet Scoobs for me and safe journeys.
thanks ken
Beautiful drive even if you did get lost. Keep the great videos coming.
ya, you went my way to Portland, i did that yesterday.
ya, really nice country, but the wrong way.
i noticed the trees also, and seeing many dead trees.
Nice drive Russ thanks.
i love the high desert, it was 90 in portland today i can't imagine how hot you guys were. love the vids.
Was a boom town still is .and very outdoorsy.
just like being there with you
That canyon was interesting. We have a canyon in southern Georgia that I want to go see. I've seen it as we passed by on trips, but have never stopped. Look up Georgia's Mini Grand Canyon. The tall pines are taking over so you can't see the bottom like you used to.
Beautiful!
You sure make a great tour guide!! ☺ Sure looks pretty there too. You ARE doing really good on the gas mileage with 15-20 mpg. Thank you for another awesome video Russ. Keep 'em coming. Give Scoobers a couple of milk bones from me. 🍖
madras Redmond Prineville have terrible crime problems I was going to retire in that area but changed my mind because of it
WOW I am shocked that trucks getting that kind of gas mileage with the 5.4 makes me wonder what the rear axle gear ratio is? I could barely get 20mpg on the hwy with a half ton truck I had with same engine. take care tom
Madras is supposed to be one of the best places to see the 2017 August total eclipse
that would be cool to see
Madras is pronounced MadDress
i go to school is redmond
I live in madras and it’s mad 😠 dress is how you say it
It is pronounced "Mad-russ" not "made-raise". (It's my hometown... you are not the first to mispronounce it and I am sure you will not be the last.
