    Amazing to hear Sagmeister so influenced by Martino. I recall seeing Sagmeister on stage in Singapore in the 80s when he was also very influenced by Metheny. Good to see him again after many, many years.

    So happy to discover this. Two great players, great style, great linear concepts, and great tone!

    Their album Conversation from 2000 is still one of my favorite albums. In 2017, Martino is still the original shredder, and funky Sagmeister equals the maestro. What a treat!

      I'd say McLaughlin is the original shredder.

    Nice. But kind of spooky to hear someone clone an inventor that much. The trademark Pat lick at 1:59, fx. It's like hearing one guy say to another, I can do you just as good as you. What's the point?

    • @leegollin4417
      @leegollin4417 6 лет назад +7

      I disagree. I would never in a million years mistake him for Pat. You can't really be a modern Jazz guitarist and not know a couple of Pat's runs.

      That's a really dark sentiment you have there. You see a wonderful collaboration like this, and all you get is pastiche and one-upmanship? Maybe it's more like homage and deference?

      Idk, I've been listening to Pat nearly every single day of my life for years, at least 4, from his earliest work like on Boppin and Burnin to Formidable, and I looked away for a second and thought it was Pat still soloing near 1:50. I don't think implementing someone's style into your own is creepy, because the Giants now did it before they became Giants, but they definitely sound close to home, especially in the beginning

      @tunaficiency 3 года назад

      Cj green not sure what you mean sagmeister does the first solo from 1:00 to 3:30 before that it’s the melody there is a difference between them sagmeister has a fatter sound and pat is more woody. I can understand the comments about the mix which is why it can often sound better from someone’s phone at these live gigs

    Do you anything to say?

    Hi Folks, wonderful music by all of you. But the recording/mixing is'nt well done. Pat is mixed down, the organ partly too loud. I think, Geniuses like you could do a better sound engineering job. In spite: Thank you for giving inspiration.
