  • The Hot Wheels (1:18 scale) 1989 Batmobile designed by Anton Furst for the Tim Burton Batman movies.
    My first official review is the fan favorite, the 1989 Batmobile. Like many Batman fans, this design of the Batmobile is one of my top favorites. The sleek build of this Batmobile has a strong and slightly retro look. Hot Wheels did a great job with this large scale die-cast model of the 1989 Batmobile. It has a number of great features including: a movable engine core, machine guns, and an opening canpoy.

    One of the best die cast of the 89 Batmobile, I like when they include bases with them as well

    Great review. I have the '66 Batmobile in that scale and I love it. That one is my favorite Batmobile. I have not seen the '89 in that scale but I will be looking for one now.

    This is a nice vid. It's been up for years, so it's likely someone already said this, put the core was seen in one of the Burton films. Thing is, it was in Batman Returns, after the car was reduced to the Bat-Missile. It's indeed odd that they added that to this model, but it's still a great piece.

    • @LuciusFoxCar
      @LuciusFoxCar  7 лет назад

      Yeah, someone mentioned that the day I posted it. I should have done more research, haha! There's also a scene in the movie when Bruce Wayne and Alfred are talking in the Batcave next to the Batmobile and the core is extended. Interesting that Hot Wheels decided to include that feature but cool nonetheless.

    Fantastic first review Richard! I'm really glad you decided to go with the larger '89 Batmobile...it really is the favourite on screen Batmobile for most fans. Loving the amount of extras and nice features it has....what were they thinking with that Elite colour scheme though?? With the gold blinged out wheels and browning machine guns!!
    Really great to see the cockpit and that the core extends out on the 1:18 version....I think they did actually show it extended out in the movies, in Batman Returns when Bruce was shown fixing the 'Bat Missile' near the end, it's hanging out...I 'think' lol. It's been a while since I watched it. An awesome review Richard, great to see all the scales of the '89 together. Cannot wait for your next upload!!

    • @LuciusFoxCar
      @LuciusFoxCar  10 лет назад +1

      Thanks, Stewart. This was a fun video to make. I thought I would do one or two of my other Batmobiles before I jumped into the Eaglemoss line. This version of the '89 seemed like a great place to start. I don't know what HW was thinking with that Elite version. Their Elite Tumbler is the same way. With all that gold bling, you half expect Batman to be pimpin' down the road with a bottle of Cristal and blasting some Snoop Dogg.
      It's been a long time since I've seen Batman Returns but, now that you mention it, I have a vague memory of Keaton in the Batcave (talking to Alfred?) working on the core of the Batmobile.
      Thanks again for all of your support. I'm hoping to have another video up within the next couple of weeks. Stay tuned!

    • @stewmurray47
      @stewmurray47 10 лет назад

      LOL at cristal!! Yeah the paint scheme is pretty garish and I'm sure the tumbler looks just as bad! Can't wait for your next review Richard...hopefully you should have a new way to display your Batmobiles soon enough!! I'm planning to ship 'the item' later on next week once it's finished :-)

      Thanks, Rich! This Batmobile is definitely a favorite for many of us. It's kinda futuristic but it also has that art deco feel. I still remember seeing this movie in the theatre and I absolutley loved all of those scenes with the Batmobile.
      Very cool! Thanks for watching.

    I have all the Hotwheels 1:50 scale batmobiles, I bought them when they came out so I paid $10 or less for each one, no that I see some of them are going for $100 and more is just insane! I can't believe they are going for so much! now I don't want to take them out of the package. I love the hotwheels 1:18 scale, I have that one too, love it!! I agreed the hot toys is really nice but to big.

    • @LuciusFoxCar
      @LuciusFoxCar  10 лет назад

      You're lucky to have one! I started collecting shortly after they stopped carrying the single carded 1:50 scale '89 Batmobile in stores. They ARE so expensive now! Not a big deal that I don't have one. I was happy to get the battle damaged version with the 3-pack. I also have a few of the elite 1:64 scale '89 Batmobiles from Hot Wheels. Those are pretty cool too.

    • @impossiblepie
      @impossiblepie 10 лет назад

      yes lucky to have them, I just got them because I'm a Batman fan, I never would've imagined that they would go for so much.

  • @telonio9

    I also have this one. I used to have the hot toys 1/6 1989 batmobile but I sold it. It was really impressive and expensive but being all plastic it dosen't feel to worth that high price. On the other side, hot wheels version is tiny but it feels much more solid than hot toys, since it is almost all made from metal. Now I wonder why they paint the bomb in front of the car silver, what they had in mind?

  • @impossiblepie
    @impossiblepie 9 лет назад +1

    I just noticed, does the back not look like it opens? there is a panel that looks like it would open and it's a little loose, I've tried to open it but I haven't forced it so I'm not 100% sure if it's suppose to open or not, if it's not why would they have a separate panel there that looks like a door?

    • @LuciusFoxCar
      @LuciusFoxCar  9 лет назад

      Impossible Pie The back on mine does not open. I think on the special elite edition (the one with the gold trim) the back trunk does open. The sculpt of the door is probably just there to make it look a little bit more like the actual design from the movie. Still, a very awesome model!
      Thanks for watching and thank you for taking the time to comment.

    The review is most excellent and I do agree that the foundation model or the non-elite model is better than the elite version which is kind of sad. I have this one but did not get the elite because of the color of the car. I am a big Batmobile collector and I have most of the modern stuff. I wished I had some of the vintage Batmobiles by Corgi and Husky but the cost on those are extremely out my budget...LOL

    • @LuciusFoxCar
      @LuciusFoxCar  10 лет назад

      I don't own any of the Corgi or Husky models. I know so many collectors are nostalgic about the Corgi line. Thye're such cool little collectibles despite the fact that they always slapped a big bright Bat-logo on the tops of the models.
      Thanks again! Always great to meet another Batmobile collector.

    I like the 89 Batmobile but I always thought if Spuds Mckenzie wore a Vader type mask it would look like this. You should get the real 1989 batmobile. That would be cool. lol Great Video

    • @LuciusFoxCar
      @LuciusFoxCar  10 лет назад

      Thanks, Jason. Yeah, the '89 has a big front end just like old Spuds. Just need to get that dog a black glossy Vader helmet and he'll look just the like this Batmobile. "TO THE SPUDSMOBILE, ROBIN!"
      I would never get the Hot Toys version but I would take the real 1989 Batmobile in a heartbeat. That really would be cool. Thanks for watching!

    Hi buddy..i am pretty sure you can answer this..if i remove the legs of 4 inch multiverse michael keaton batman..you think i will manage to fit it in the driver's seat? Please leave an answer.

    • @LuciusFoxCar
      @LuciusFoxCar  5 лет назад

      Kanwar Mann Hello! That is an interesting question. I would unfortunately have to say no. Even if you removed the legs off of a 4 inch figure, I think the body would be too wide and the remainder of the figure would not fit. I also think it would be difficult to close the canopy.
      There are other models of the 89 Batmobile out there that are meant to hold figures but it’s a shame that none of them are as accurate or detailed as this one.
      Thanks again for watching! Happy holidays!!

    Just ordered mine from Amazon. It was $57 plus tax. Brand new. Didn't think they still made these. It'll look good next to my 1/18 '66 Batmobile.

    • @LuciusFoxCar
      @LuciusFoxCar  8 лет назад +1

      Awesome! Yeah, it is surprising to still find these out there for sale. You got a pretty good price for yours. This is the only 1/18 Hot Wheels Batmobile that I currently have. I've often thought about getting the '66 in this scale because it is such a classic. I also wouldn't mind getting the Arkham Knight.
      Do you have many other Batmobiles? Thanks for watching. Take it easy.

      I only have the 1/18 and 1/64 versions of the 1966. One I wouldn't mine owning is the Corgi 1/43 1940s Batmobile Roadster, with Batman figure in the drivers seat, that came out a few years ago.

    • @LuciusFoxCar
      @LuciusFoxCar  8 лет назад

      Cool! I have quite a few of those recent 1/43 Corgi Batmobiles. A couple of them come with a Batman figure in the drivers seat. I don't know why I've never reviewed any of those. Maybe I'll do one after my next video.

    Do you know if the elite batman returns batmobile is accurately coloured in the sides as the model looks more brass than silver in the small sections and I'm sure they were silver in the film?

    • @LuciusFoxCar
      @LuciusFoxCar  9 лет назад

      doctorwho971 I'm not sure about the Batman Returns model. I know the first Elite version of this scale (and the recent Batman Returns 1/43 scale) comes with the gold trim. I saw one listed on eBay and it looked like it had the original colors from the movie but the picture was too small to be certain.
      Let me know if you find out anything because I'd be interested to see if there is a difference.

    Great review Richard. I seem to recall the *core* was slid out during the bad guys messing about with the Batmobile in the second movie. When they had the thing hooked up to a remote control? It sticks in my mind that they had the engine out and were messing about with wires.

      Hey Barry. Thanks! Yeah, I really need to go back and watch both Batman and Batman Returns again. Can you believe I own the Nolan Batman films (even Dark Knight Rises!!!) but I still don't have the two Burton movies?

      The Batmobile I have to admit to not owning any of the HT figures from the Burton Batman movie. I feel the whole thing is a bit hokey and camp. Just a personal opinion. I loved it at the time. And i am well aware the sequels without Keaton got a lot more camp, but i far prefer the Nolan films. I still enjoyed your review.

    I have that Hottoys 1:18 Batmobile also, I have a question did you ever try opening the back part? I was kind of surprised the car is die cast but the back has this plastic part.

    • @LuciusFoxCar
      @LuciusFoxCar  8 лет назад

      +DjJokerr The back on mine does not open and the entire body is diecast metal. I think there may have been an elite version that had a trunk that opens. Is yours all black like this one or does it have gold trim on it?

      +Arkham89 - The Batmobile No, I got the exact same one as you. I do agree with you about the gold elite, it's ugly.

  • @emmettrowe5164

    Although I must say this I like Batman 1 and Batman 2 but the others I think that's when they started going downhill because if you keep changing the character that plays Batman it starts to lose something no matter what other new gadgets things they put in the movie it takes away from it if the character does not Remain the actor or the actor remained the character for that series.. I like Christian Bale in The Dark Knight because it went into more history of Bruce Wayne and how he learned how to fight and techniques and thinks he uses but that's about it only the ones with Christian Bale after that I was done

  • @emmettrowe5164
    @emmettrowe5164 5 лет назад

    , I'm in total agreement with you buddy I truly am that 1:6 scale 1989 Batman for Michael Keaton is just way too expensive way too expensive and they know that... and the only other thing I have to say about Hot Wheels they make very good replicas but so hard to find the Batman Returns Batmobile with the U-turn lifter pod that's the one I didn't search off they sell a lot of the Batman return that mobiles but they do not have that pod and that was one of the distinctive features of Batman Returns Batmobile... oh and by the way what color is this Batmobile that you're doing the review on the 1/18 scale because some of Hot Wheels that will be those are not in the true movie correct color
