Finally! I have been saved! Carbon paper is killing my Realistic Drawing in the light values..I couldn't erase it and there are tons of lines for all of my various values! I would love a mini projector, but they are too expensive for what they are! I have tried the phone tracing apps, but they are not as accurate as I'd like! Lots of futsying around with it....so thank you!

Thanks so much for this one Bonnita, just what I needed to remind me of this technique. Tried it recently and apart from the blue Tac trick I think I did ok. Find the woodless graphite much cleaner than graphite pencil too, must purchase some more as I only have the piece which you gave to us at the eye workshop. Thanks again, you’re a star 👍 x

When I used a light box my lines ended up too heavy n dark (the only time I go too dark!) 🤣 when doing a pastel piece what would you recommend for the trace down? Graphite on the back of ref pic or white trace down paper?

Use a mechanical pencil if using a light box it will stop you going to dark, if you don't have one use an H or 2H pencil. I use the exact same technique for pastel paper as well, white wax pencil if dark paper or graphite if light enough to show.

Bonnita Doodles so you use graphite even when using pastels?

@@34littleb yes :) if the paper is light enough, pastels go over graphite lines easily so hide well

Hi 👋 this is a great video. I’m not really up to doing graphite - I just started doing art by using adult colouring books a couple of years ago. I was thinking about buying a light box but there’s such a broad range in prices, that I don’t know what to look/what features are best for light boxes. Do you have any recommendations for that? Also, what sort of paper do you lay the graphite paper down on? Since you’re able to see through it if you’re next to a window, I would expect it to be just the cheap copy paper you buy in reams for everyday printing from a printer? Is that right? Also, what brand/name are you using to brush away the dust with? It looks like it works very well and it’s also so pretty! Anyway, not sure if you’ll see this comment as you may have done this video ages ago (I can’t actually see the date when I’m typing in the Comments dialog box) 💖 from Australia 🇦🇺

Hi! is it an old vid but I still get notifications :). I will try and answer each question.
light board you shouldn't have to pay more than around £30 (not sure what that is in Aus)
The paper I used is Strathmore 300 series Bristol board or Daler Rowney graphic Bristol board. they are around 250-290gsm it is very good quality drawing paper (esp the strathmore) as long as the light is strong and you image is clear you can see through it. I just use a cheap make up brush I got this one from ebay.
