Hi Tyler - great video (and same for the other 'rear diff related videos'). I love your First Gen Dodge videos.... very interesting and very clear.... (and I don't even have an old Dodge!). Did you move to Manitoba? You were previously in BC, right? What a different set of circumstances for those vehicles.... I hope they don't get too much salt exposure in MB...... those 2 old beauties are worth preserving!

Thanks, I appreciate the support and thanks for watching even though you don't have an old dodge! Yes I just moved this summer to Manitoba. I'm storing my red one in my garage for the winter and I'm driving ol' blue. I'm doing my best to preserve them by using rust check annually and to spray inside the frame, rockers, inside the roof panels. It's good stuff check it out online. Should prevent most rust issues. It makes them messy to work on but I swear by that stuff even if you don't live in the rust belt. Cheers! Tyler
I agree with you. I thought it was gonna be a bit more complicated. That there would be more parts involved. Seemed like the hardest part was getting the casing in and out. Seeing how mine has over 433k on her, I'm pretty sure this needs to be done. Thanks brother for vid. Extremely helpful. And thanks for the parts list.
Killer video Tyler, the power lock in my blue truck is toast, the driver rear doesn't spin at all if you do the one tire on the ground test 😂 ive found my next project!
Yeah it'll probably help you putting your big power to the ground too! I'm curious to check my red truck and see how it is because I feel like my blue truck's powr lok may have been rebuilt once before.
Hey , I've read that if you only have 1 tire off the ground and can spin it at all then your clutches are shot. what you think?
Hey, I have a 93 w250 that is undrivable. If I hit a bump doing 30pmh the steering wheel and whole truck will shake violently. Any ideas where I should start? Thanks
Dodge death wobble lol. Go through your entire front end and look for the issue
Check out my video on king pin bushings. That's a good cheap and easy place to start with front end wobble. Those king pin upper bushings and springs tend to degrade over time and it's a quick fix if you don't want to start going through your entire front end just yet. From there I would also check for play in all your front steering components (tie rod ends, drag link, etc)
Does anyone make a kit locks on demand electronicly?
Yeah I think you can get select-able electronic or air lockers. For a daily driver I prefer having a limited slip. It might be nice to have one of those manual select-able lockers in the front though for if you ever need it and put a switch on the shifter or in the cab somewhere. The truck is already pretty unstoppable though with the weight of the cummins in the front...haha
I think my d250 has an open diff pretty sure my 2nd gen is the same.
Pull the diff cover and find out!
@@OvensGarage the rear on each truck spins opposite that's one way I've learned to find out. So one tire rotates forward while the other rotates backward.
@@OvensGarage 2 lo makes a massive difference though in the 2nd gen, but I lost 4 lo because you can't engage the posi lok for the front axle with lo. It says in the instructions for the posi lok actuator.
