  • Today I show you how to upgrade your battery terminals to these reliable and easy to work with military style battery terminals. These are awesome because the cable ends are changed to heavy duty marine grade lugs and the terminals are easy to swap out and maintain. Top it off with the covers and they look great.

This is similar to what I'm doing on my 1990 W350. Clean and orderly circuits are worth the time and effort. Very nice looking setup there.

Thanks , Crimping is the best mechanical and electrical contact for the wires .

Awesome job! I've been planning this update for my truck for a while. That heat shrink with the new wire and ring terminals will make sure you have a good connection for years to come. Better than original. I rewired my headlights to a relay under the hood and redid my charging system due to the bouncing voltage. Use a little dielectric grease on your final connection points for a little added protection against corrosion. Has worked great for mine.

Thanks! Yes, it's a bit of extra work with the heat shrink and using marine grade terminals but well worth the effort. That's one thing I still need to buy and use is a bit of dielectric grease on my connections. I like this method over soldering because I find the connections are just as strong if not stronger than soldering and saves a ton of time and hassle.

Great video, I did it to my truck. I want to give you a tip, the negative terminal must to be connected at last one. To prevent any damages if you touch chassis ground while you tight the positive terminal. And vice versa, the negative terminal must to be disconnected first to prevent any damages while disconnect the positive terminal.
    Regards.

Battery terminal cracked and blew a hole in battery 😑. 03 5.9CR. Time to fix all 4 ugly terminals! Thanks for the vid! Nice clean work 😎

one thing i suggest is get a fiber or plastic relay, that metal one get so hot that you can actually burn yourself off it. super hot. the 200 amp fiber relay works great. Oh and the pink wire ends up in a connector which leads to the start lug on the starter. I ended up using 0000 welding cable for my ground and positive to the starter. Wrapped up in that split loom with a similar battery terminal. The 0000 wire had the lugs already crimped on so that made it super easy. What wasn't easy was routing that huge wire but figured it out. my original wires were shot, the insulation was split from all the years as they were OEM from the factory (1991 pre 1991.5) also the thick wire that he said goes to the fusible link, I believe is the power wire from the alternator carrying the charge amperage 80+ amps. also at 10:46 you can see the fat wire alternator wire that goes in the loom around the firewall and besides the washer tank (or battery) to the big pole on the alternator, And a connector. That connector has the pink wire in it and it goes from the battery to the ignition switch, the back to the connector and from there it goes to the start lug on the starter. Pink from battery to connector, then from connector a brown wire to the starter. (I just did all this stuff also) Great stuff this video

Thanks for the tips. Glad it worked out for you. A bit confused by that pink wire because in the FSM for my 92 it says it goes back to the hazard flasher. Maybe I was reading it wrong

Blue Seas Systems bus bar. I've linked everything I used in this video in the video description. I picked mine up at my local marine shop that carries a ton of blue seas systems products.
