Thank you for being so conclusive and decisive and so early on too. Far too many videos say "it's up to you".
My monkey on the shoulder just said:"Yes!"
I ended up buying the SP8 i5 16GB/256GB from Microsoft eBay sale here in Australia along with the signature keyboard for $1390 AUD ($870 USD). Compared that to the $2500 ($1560 USD) SP9 i5 16GB/256 + signature cover bundle I don't think I will be missing $1110 AUD ($695 USD) worth of features :). I consider this an absolute bargain.
That is a really good deal. Especially considering what it cost just one month ago! Congrats!!!
How is your experience with it so far? I really like how "cheap" the SP8 is compared to its counterpart, but I'm afraid it has a lower price because of its poor performance and potential numerous issues. Hopefully this isn't the case. Can you share your experience with it so far?
At the moment, here (Germany) I can only preorder the 9 from the MS store for shipping in early november. But they add the pen for free, which almost makes up for the price difference to a new 8.
Great video as always
Thank you. Really hoping to create better and more useful content.
My Surface 8 is still way more than I need . Be years and years before I replace it
This makes me lean on more onto purchasing an 8. Time to upgrade my Surface from 2018.
New subscriber here! I was able to pick up Surface Pro 8 bundle, i5 8 gb 256 gb including Signature Keyboard and S Pen 2 for $899 at Costco. In your opinion is 8 gb enough RAM for general tasks…email, Office 365, internet, drawing (Krita), RUclips? Will this get me through a few years? Just looking for your opinion. Love your channel, reviews and recommendations! Thanks!
Yes absolutely should be good! Mostly for multiple tasks at the same time
@@TabletPro Awesome! Thanks for the quick reply. Costco is running a special now for the SP9 i5 16 gb 256 gb for $1,099 including Keyboard but not the pen. Was wondering if it was worth the $200 upgrade plus the cost of the pen. I’m surprised how fast the SP8 i5 seems in actual real world use.
What about programming? which one would you recommend?
if the money isn't really an issue the pro 9 is faster. multicore cpu tasks should be much faster. But it's a matter of trade off, cost / speed. I think there are software limitations and bottlenecks as well. If I had my choice, I'd personally get the Pro 9. I think it is better in almost every way. Just a matter of how much better and is it worth the price difference.
u had me at open-box.
Where's the 25% discount link...?
Thanks!

surface pro 9 removed 3.5 mm headphone jack. Not a wise move
Seemed unnecessary. For a phone…. Making it waterproof makes sense to remove more ports and eventually port less. For tablet??? How much space can that port really take? They made the battery smaller and took away a port…. ??
Totally Agree. I still have my Bose Media Mates that still works so well Simply plug and play. No hassle. You know it's good to go.
What do you think of the ARM version? Is Windows ARM advanced enough to run the majority of programs you'll deal with in college?
Depends on what you are going to college for. What are you going to college for? I’ll be doing a video soon on this topic.
@@TabletPro computer engineering. Going to be transferring and will need to run special software. Was going to get 16gb no matter what
@@whenhen Keep in mind not all programs are yet fully compatible on the ARM platform. I do believe ARM is a better choice however you will have better compatibility with Intel's X86 cpu's
@@whenhen I assume you will want to be programming on the Surface then. For that, you should probably not use an ARM chip. While the very latest preview version of Visual Studio will be available as an ARM version, you might still run into unforseen compilation issues.
@@ChrisKoe I assumed that the ARM emulation was advanced enough to properly run x86 code? Is this still not the case?
do I REALLY need a new laptoptabletwhateverthing (currently surface laptop 3 and did i just hear 3050 ti in a surfacellaptop studio? my space bar is being weird help
In the microsoft ad, it says “all android apps”. What does it mean? Does it mean that it can run android apps without emulator? Is it just on the arm version or intel version as well?
both version run andriod apps with emulator as far as i know. I don't know if the ARM version would run them without an emulator. In my limited experience the emulated android apps were VERY slow. I'll have to test again. download the play store from the microsoft app store and you can test it currently on your machine.
Got Pro 8 i5, 8GB/128 for $700 from Microsoft here in the US.
yeah it's a great machine and that price is so good.
Surface Pro 9 has no 3.5 mm headphone jack. x(
Got i5 8g 256 surface pro 8 bundle for $450 from Costco
What???
Ok so the pointing at the hair reminded me of a NSFW scene from Something About Mary 😬
Lol 😂 totally NOT what I was thinking but yes
Funny end ;)
still get nervous putting silly or funny things in videos. Thanks for commenting
Dude Awesome****
Thanks 😅
i hope microsoft end intel , hot trash ,,, and use Amd Ryzen 7000 , very cool with 8 core
then we must buy
what applications would you use the Ryzen 7000 with first? a favorite game or program?
Always enjoyed Intel from the start. Remember the i7908x? Good days for sure. 12 years later. Intel products still work for me. No problems with AMD but would rather stick to Intel.
@@jt.8144 I'm an Intel enthusiast.
Upgrading from a computer, tablet, or smartphone that's less than three years old to another is incredibly irrational.
That being said, I think the efficiency cores on the Surface Pro 9 are going to have a positive effect on heat and battery life when compared to the 11th gen eqipped Surface Pro 8.
I think you are spot on with the 12th gen affects on the battery life. That’s what I’m hoping to see as well. What is your last tablet? (Or current)
It would seem so, though the battery length estimates were lower for the SP9 by 30 minutes compared to the SP8
@@TabletPro I have a Surface Go 2 to supplement my XPS 9500. Hoping the Surface Go 4 comes with Intel's leaked i3-n300 or the SQ3. Should be good for battery, media consumption, and non-graphically intensive indie games. If not, I'll probably upgrade to a Surface Pro in another 2 years. I'm looking forward to what Intel is promising for their future CPUs, in terms of performance per watt.
I got that discount on my Go 2. Honor code.
