You can complain about a decision but you need to do it the right way... I remember Lawler remained very classy even though he did not agree with the stoppage vs Askren. Dominick just sounds salty
What Dominick said to TJ after his loss to Cejudo in 2019 - "How insignificantly stupid are you? To think you complaining and whining about a stoppage is going to change anything? You sound like a moron. It just showed what a weak-minded champion we have. What kind of example are you leaving for yourself and everybody else just crying and whining about nothing that can be changed?" Kind of hypocritical if you ask me.
Tj got blasted at the start of the fight and was dropped while trying to stand up and wasn’t close to getting up. Dom got dropped and was leaning on the fence coming up with 2 seconds left in the round.
ZombieVikingGaming Because hes an alcoholic lol, you seem like youve watching MMA for a while so you know him being drunk before fights isnt a new thing
@@tacotacotington3638 He's a smoker, but being hungover/intoxicated i don't buy. He seemed to be alright and alert. Early stoppages happen with great refs too, this could've been worse.
This is the most articulate and eloquent excuse making post in the history of sports. “I was standing up as I took 11 unanswered heat strikes and I know Henry would stop hitting me while I was trying to stand up. I lost because the referee didn’t do what I told him to do.” Don obliviously was concussed when he posted.
Frank Wies I think the point is there was one second left and he wasn’t out. It’s not randoms fighting its two world class champions, you let it go longer. He still blames himself for being in that position so he’s really just pissed at the ref not really an excuse
Now I like both fighters so I’m not tryna sound biased, but the thing with TJ though was that he got dropped 3 times in the first 32 seconds, which makes it justified. In this last stoppage there were literally 2 seconds left in the 2nd round, might as well have not stopped it at all imo.
One trick pony Dom can't blame the ref. Not his fault Dom couldn't make the adjustment and got kneed in the face. What the point of using that "fancy ankle and knee tearing footwork" if it training and using it injures you. Dom stays the same while the the whole division is evolving he should just retire
John Coppers Not even just the wrestling. Henry looked like the much more technical striker. Dom just puts his head down and wings punches. He’s got good footwork defensively but literally just wings shots.
@@quezlark7875 But he moved in during the unanswered shots, it's what everyone is ignoring. There is a time difference between "I have decided to stop the fight, I am moving in to stop this fight" and when he actually gets in the way, the decision was made when Cruz ate 12 unanswered shots, the one second delay between when he made the decision and moved in was the one second Dom started to get back up. Too late, you let yourself get hit too much, you let yourself get to a point where a ref decided to stop it. So you recovered after the decision was made? That's about 5 shots later than you should have recovered
Each fighter and their corner people talk with their ref back stage for 5-15 minutes. They explain all the rules in-depth, and they have a back and forth about stoppages, verbal taps, if your corner will throw in a towel or if the ref should stop early and all that. Like if I was fighting, I might say “if you (talking to my ref) think I’m out on my feet at all, stop it” as opposed to “I want to be knocked out cold.” (This is from an MMA expert I asked about the stoppage and Cruz's comments, not my own words.)
Nobody who wins is gonna cheapen their win in any way. I don't think Dom expects Henry not to celebrate the win he is just mad that the ref didn't give him his chance
Dom's words on TJ/Cejudo are the exact opposite than what he's saying about himself in the same situation; he said you shouldn't allow yourself to get hit so many times if you didn't want it to be stopped.
He complaining just like tj if he had smell something rong wit the ref complain st that said time if u had won u never would have mention anything about the ref yo plzzzzzzzz
Agree. I put Keith way up in the Ref rankings but if he would have stopped it while Doms Face was planted on the floor and his arms where out like he was crucified but he stopped when he was actually trying something. Strange timing for that late/early stoppage. Not the best stop but not the worst either
Imagine being that ref. And watching Henry land that clean knee right in doms face. The way his face looked as he was falling was all the ref needed to see.
I dunno that knee dropped him for sure and Cruz was dazed but it wasnt like he was hurt the whole time on the ground. This finish is that true fifty fifty and both sides have good cases
@Happy Arnold no he wouldn't have lol. The round LITERALLY ended almost immediately after that and justin ACTUALLY got fully up and wasnt rocked and continued to dominate.
Okay i just watched the last sequence in slo-mo 6 times. The 10th punch that connected with him while he was down knocked Dom's head into the mat and that's when the ref saw enough. But yes Dom did start to get up after that. Really tough call. The ref jumped in the very second he thought Dom was unconscious after double digit unanswered shots to the head, but yeah if he waited just a second longer he woulda seen that Dom was fine.
You really think these fighters make enough money to bribe a ref? A ref in mma also doesn't affect the outcome of a fight as much as boxing or other sports.
Other organization.....not talking about the fighter I myself can pay the ref 50K to stop the fight and have it whaled with bookies and Sports Rooms learn the ref in the cage.
It's a lot harder for refs to cheat in MMA fights. In boxing it's incredibly easy, ref can start the count late after a knockdown, give a count when the fighter is getting rocked to save them, slow down the count, break in clinches incredibly quick etc. UFC that stuff doesn't happen. In UFC the only thing you really can do is force people to stand off the ground, deduct points harshly and early stoppages.
I feel like he should have stopped it earlier, for a few seconds Cruz wasn’t actually responding then when he did, and tried to get up is when the ref stopped it
Come on Dom. You're one of the smartest minds in MMA. You took close to 8 unprotected shots with your back turned, your face down & after you took a knee that cleaned your clock. He was looking out for your best interests. It was a good stoppage. Live to fight another day and accept the loss.
he was dazed and trying to get up, you're going to eat "unprotected shots" when that happens... also the "unanswered shots" argument is so dumb, would you like him to throw punches as he's trying to stand back up or can the man get a few seconds to work his way out of it before he needs to "answer" those shots? i would argue that the act of attempting to stand up is an answer, if he was laying flat and not moving i get it, if he's out on his feet like tony was i get it... but he was neither of those things.
Dom thinks he ate "some shots?" It's more like he gorged on shots at an all-you-can-eat buffet...for three people. He got hit ten or eleven times with full strength shots and ZERO defense. No amount of eye contact is going to change that.
I think you definitely can. He's holding himself accountable for getting hit with the knee and getting into that position in the first place, but is criticising the referee for what happened after that. Having said that, he did go on about it for far too long and got quite whiny
Jake Lay he got dropped clean and then ate 12 unanswered shots. Was losing both rounds clearly and hadn’t hit Cejudo with anything except a headbutt. Don’t force the ref to make a choice end of story. Nothing else. Don’t get dropped
Andrew Clarke he held accountability for that.. he’s just saying he was on his way back to his feet with 10 or so seconds until the end of the round. Also if you watch the replay, only about 5-6 of those shots actually landed - it wasn’t like he was getting hit with bombs. All in all, I think it was slightly early but not too upset about it
@@andrewclarke6918 If you don't want the ref to stop the fight then don't put yourself in that position. With that said, as a fight fan i would have liked to see what happened in those next 3 seconds and then possibly the next 3 rounds.
Really not sure how I feel about him putting the ref on blast like that. I can’t help but wonder if he had won the fight if we’d be hearing the alcohol/cigarette story.
Alex S lmao of course not ! I actually agree with dom it was early AF he was getting up not going down when it got stopped but sayin he had booze on his breath was a bit much even if he did !! Lmao !! That was weak AF tellin in the ref like that regardless !!
I think fans always assume that when a fighter is criticising a ref that it’s unwarranted and just an excuse. The act of criticising a ref in itself is not. It depends on the circumstance. I think Dom has every right to in this case he was climbing up the cage when the ref stopped it and it was the final seconds of the round. If he got dropped again once he stood up sure call it off but he was clearly conscious and making an effort to defend himself.
Dominic Cruz: Spends the first 6 minutes explaining how this is a shitty ref he would have changed before the fight if he could who's a notorious drunk who was hungover and stunk of alcohol who doesn't know how to do his job Dominic Cruz after the first six minutes: Hey, but I take responsibility like a man. Stopped listening after that.
Dominick wants things to go Dominick`s way. If things don't go Dominick`s way Dominick gets really mad. If Dominick says it it must be true because he speaks so well. How dare you question Dominick.
Kind incredible, isn't it... this "world champion" and how he carries himself. And then you see how a guy who literally lose everything he worked a decade for, and got his face actually broken in, who had spent 8 years and 12 fights earning his shot, and then shitty circumstances forces him into another terrible position where he has to take an insane gamble after 6 months of camp and a double weight cut... the guy carries himself with no excuses whatsoever, congratulates his opponent, thanks his fans, and remains incredibly humble in a horrible career-detouring defeat. Hey Dom... you could learn a lot from the "CSO" of Tony Ferguson. 🤨
Saifullah Harith. 11 unanswered punches in your face what would you think would happen. Listen I love Cruz. But he got punched 11 times without blocking
Jj Smith your not going to “answer” punches trying to get back up to your feet. Stop parroting what other people are saying and form your own opinion. 2 seconds left in the round and dom was getting up. Who knows what could have happened if the ref let that round end.
@Devin Singhe i thought that too. Think he knows this might have been his last title shot and also, I don't mind Henry's personality but getting beat by the cringe master then him retiring infront of an empty crowd must made the sting worse lmao
Round 2 would’ve been 10-8 Cejudo putting him 3 points ahead of Cruz with 3 rounds left. Cruz would’ve had to stop him to win and no way was he gonna get the 2nd stoppage in his UFC career in the condition that he was in.
Remember Cruz's reaction after the Garbrandt loss? Took it like a champ. If it were another fighter making these claims, I don't know if I'd take it seriously. Cruz isn't one to make excuses though and Cruz was clearly getting up when the fight was stopped.
HUGE difference between both contests. He got outclassed for 5 straight rounds by Coby. Anything but taking it would class would be just silly. This here is a fight he could bathe in the controversy and he's taking that chance with all he's got. If you ask me, this is him showing his true colors. It's not what you do when you don't got the option to do it, it's when you get the option to do it and you don't.
man I forgot about that he made zero excuses yet Garbrandt made a lot of excuses for him saying he fought like he came in with an injury and he didnt look the same after the TJ fight
@@danielbelcab Even when fighters get completely outclassed, many still come up with a million different excuses. And with the number of injuries and time out of the cage Cruz has endured, it wouldn't have been hard for him to come up with something after that Garbrandt fight. True colours? Cruz admitted that he put himself in this position if you watch the interview, he is as real as it gets and has one of the best minds in the sport. Even with this loss, he'll still go down as one of the greatest bantamweights of all time.
@@cartwright77Never said it was the WORST stoppage but it was early considering that this was a title fight. In the seconds after Cruz was hit by the knee he was still conscious, YES got hit by punches afterwards (and if it had got stopped at that point would have been more understandable), but he was on his way up which shows that he was intelligently defending himself.

Fighters should never know who's going to ref their matches. How do you think reffs get paid off in other organizations.
Whole different kettle of fish.
You really think these fighters make enough money to bribe a ref? A ref in mma also doesn't affect the outcome of a fight as much as boxing or other sports.
Yeah man Dom paided him good money and he screwed him over lol
Other organization.....not talking about the fighter I myself can pay the ref 50K to stop the fight and have it whaled with bookies and Sports Rooms learn the ref in the cage.
It's a lot harder for refs to cheat in MMA fights. In boxing it's incredibly easy, ref can start the count late after a knockdown, give a count when the fighter is getting rocked to save them, slow down the count, break in clinches incredibly quick etc. UFC that stuff doesn't happen. In UFC the only thing you really can do is force people to stand off the ground, deduct points harshly and early stoppages.

Yeah but he was just about to stand up as the ref stopped it so I understand why he was mad.
American Gangster by your logic, you also think TJ was robbed huh 🤔
The Violator dont forget that he says that Connor was gasing out khabib by taking punches
he was dazed and trying to get up, you're going to eat "unprotected shots" when that happens... also the "unanswered shots" argument is so dumb, would you like him to throw punches as he's trying to stand back up or can the man get a few seconds to work his way out of it before he needs to "answer" those shots? i would argue that the act of attempting to stand up is an answer, if he was laying flat and not moving i get it, if he's out on his feet like tony was i get it... but he was neither of those things.
Dom thinks he ate "some shots?" It's more like he gorged on shots at an all-you-can-eat buffet...for three people. He got hit ten or eleven times with full strength shots and ZERO defense. No amount of eye contact is going to change that.
They weren't all power shots, don't lie. Most were poxy little hits once he was on the ground

You can’t hold yourself accountable and make excuses at the same time.
All in all, I think it was slightly early but not too upset about it
Jake Lay idk I just think a real humble champion would never even bring that up. Guess I thought more highly of Cruz
