I’ve prayed for years to understand what oneness meant and recently the Lord taught about the sacred triad of loving God, others, and ourselves. I was trying to focus on loving God and I never felt very connected. Then, because of medical issues and the doctor telling me I had to do the self care work to calm my nervous system, I made a conscious effort to add self care to my life more earnestly. Then the Lord said, “This isn’t about doing self care. You’re not checking self care boxes. This is about caring for yourself.” I then felt the little girl in me, who never felt cared for, begin to cry. I finally gave myself permission to be loved and cared for. That journey opened my eyes to how I’ve be kind to people, but shut them out of my heart. I’m now learning to truly love others as well. And now I see why I’d struggled so with my relationship with God. It’s a triad, and all 3 sacred parts are necessary. Thank you for this excellent podcast. I’m new here.

I loved your journey to coming to understand energy work. I had an experience years ago that helped me. I was doing energy healing with an LDS woman years ago who was helping me so much with my emotional trauma from childhood. Then one day she said, “I’m not doing this anymore, it’s the work of Satan.” I was shocked because I didn’t feel like anything we did was evil, and only good had come from it. I was in agony all day and prayed and prayed. That night in bed, my mind still whirling, the Spirit told me to get up and pray again. This time I said, “Lord, I don’t understand. I know this is good when kept in the bounds Thou hast set.” Instantly I was filled with light and incredible peace. The contrast was so sudden and stark that I opened my eyes in amazement and said, “So that’s it, when it’s kept in the bounds you have set.” Since then I’ve always sought the Spirit’s confirmation and I think your experience confirms mine, stay 100% focused on Christ. That is the boundary!

I'm sad that this podcast has given a platform to energy healing...something we've been counseled to stay away from. It is the counterfeit priesthood. Everyone has to learn it their own way though. I'm just sad that I'll have to unfollow this once-solid podcast.

It seems that you didn't listen to this discussion. A lot of good ideas here addressing your concern. There's truth everywhere.

@Centered1 it's just not true that there is truth everywhere. We are too discern truth, and dimiss untruths. We can't bend things to fit how we want.

I understand your concerns. It's unfortunate that there have been members, in Utah especially, who have participated in energy work in unhealthy and adversarial ways, so as to prompt the brethren to make that warning statement. We have to be so discerning when it comes to these things. When applied appropriately, energy work is good practice. The truth is, we all participate in energy work whether we're aware of it or not. To me, energy work is in essence, moving energy. The goal is to move the negative energy out of our bodies and spirits and invite light and truth in so that we can be better aligned with God. Reading our scriptures, praying, going to the Temple is all energy work! It is moving the negative energy out, and inviting light and truth in. There are many other ways to move energy, including exercising, eating good foods, meditating, visualizing, Grounding, breathing techniques etc. This is all energy work. I loved how in this podcast they focused on the importance of eliminating false beliefs about ourselves and instead inviting in the truth about who we are as children of God. Choosing better thoughts by eliminating negative thoughts, is energy work. My rule of thumb is if the energy work I do is helping me to become a better member of the church (gives me more of a desire to read my scriptures, go to church and the Temple), then it is of God. I know some young men who would have never served missions had it not been for energy work. Energy work is not a counterfeit of the Priesthood. It is just another tool in our spiritual toolbox that can be used for good. With that being said, I do always think we need to practice caution and discernment because there are definitely people out there participating in false and adversarial energy healing practices.

@crissie70 through experience I can't agree. To me, there is no healthy energy work.

I'm truly sorry that your experience has not been good. However, that you have had a bad experience doesn't mean that energy healing in & of itself is bad. That's like someone who is divorced saying that marriage is bad. That simply isn't true. Like Candace said, The important thing is staying aligned with Christ. Satan is not able to create. He can only imitate. Therefore there has to be something for him to imitate. Satan is not able to create. He can only imitate. Therefore there has to be something for him to imitate.
I have been an energy healer for around 13 years. The experiences that I have had have been extremely tender & sacred. It is very humbling to be used as an instrument in Heavenly Father's hands in such a profound way.
As far as your comment about the church's stance. I have been asked not to share details however, that portion of the handbook was authored by a 70 who is ignorant & fearful. He had had a traumatic experience that added fuel to that fear.
Truth most certainly can be found in many places. All those on earth are children of Heavenly Father. He loves, inspires & guides all who seek Him
