- Hi everyone! This is my reconstruction of everything filmed on October 17th 1974 for a possible promo video for Whatever Gets You Through The Night. This footage was generally not seen until it was turned into a promo video for Mind Games, but a decent amount of outtakes have surfaced on an HMC bootleg DVD. I have used this DVD source, as well as a copy of the original promo for Whatever Gets You Through the Night, the promo video made for Mind Games, clips from the original 90’s auction, a few youtube videos, and some new and upgraded footage used in the recent Lost Weekend documentary.
This footage was originally silent, but I have added on an interview from September 25th with John on RKO. Sadly I am not able to add Lennon music due to strict copyright, but I hope this will still be enjoyable!

I'm always struck by how reasonable, sober and just plain intelligent Lennon is in these conversations. He was a really smart, intuitive, and observant guy. Such a shame he wasn't allowed to age out. He clearly would have continued to contribute in some way and it's obvious the friendship would have seen the four Beatles find their way together long before George died of cancer in 2001. George's death would have hit him hard.
How would he have reacted to Julian's emergence as a musician? That would've been intriguing
I've got a fairly substantial collection of Lennon interviews on CD...RS 1970, Playboy 1980, BBC 1980, RKO 1980, etc and they are all absolutely fascinating. You listen to enough of that stuff and it is kind of a glimpse into his mind. Very ordered and organized thinking.
@@gettinhungrig8806John would’ve been so proud of Julian, Julian has a beautiful voice just like his dad.
This was absolutely awesome! I wish I was able to know what he was saying, especially when he seemed to be putting on a show in front of a bunch of kids. It's great to see him looking so happy and enjoying himself. He recently got a number one single and album, so I think he was feeling pretty good about that.

He was so accessible to the public - unfortunately that was the reason some nut job took advantage of it.
Exactly! When this was made, I was attending HS a few blocks from where John and Yoko lived. (Maybe you were there, too?) It wasn't a big deal at the time, but John was always in, for example, The Burger Joint. Perfectly happy to sign autographs. Maybe draw a little cartoon on them. What a terrific person.
I like hearing John talk technical stuff because he's got a reputation of not knowing anything technical. The Lennon estate should put all the raw footage on RUclips.
The guy next to John is actor Bruce Scott (who played Riff Raff in the LA Production of The Rocky Horror Show), Bruce was meant to play the lead role for the Sgt. Peppers musical but got injured and was replaced by Ted Neeley (Jesus Christ Superstar), This Sgt. Pepper musical would later become the infamous film with The Bee Gees, Peter Frampton.

Rock 'n' Roll became a production and legal nightmare for Lennon. Not a bad album though.

I love his telling of the Spector story in, I believe it was the Radio interview with Andy Peebles for BBC December 6, 1980. You've got Spector calling Lennon saying his house was surrounded with helicopters overhead because Phil had "The John Dean Tapes" and it was actually Spector telling John in code that he had the Rock and Roll tapes.

AdamBound- you pieced this John Lennon HMC Footage very well w/other promos ect. And being added to the RKO interview which I never heard before was excellent. Some of this footage seemed to remind me of Magical Mystery Tour- gone solo w/Lennon in N.Y. (just my take of it). The street food vendor parts, feeding the animals-the kids & Adults who were so lucky to be around Lennon during the filming, John’s whole demeanor was perfect & amusing. I don’t know who the interviewer was but he was pretty good, he asked better than average questions (although he didn’t seem to understand John’s answer about the writing of I’m The Greatest for Ringo & had to be explained more than once) John’s responses were detailed-with an honest frame of mind. I hate to be a downer on this but the only thing missing was Julian Lennon, if he was with John during this filming I’m sure we would have seen a great bonding between them, which is what Julian missed out on. I’am glad Julian & Shaun have a good relationship it really is important for both of them. I really enjoyed this video piece I have not seen a lot of it before(except in some photos). Thanks!

MY AUNT WAS MIKE DOUGLAS'S PRODUCER AND WHEN I WAS LITTLE WENT OVER WITH MY MOM AS JOHN AND YOKO WAS MIKE'S COHOST AND JOHN AND YOKO WERE BOTH GREAT PEOPLE. I GOT PICTURES WITH THEM. JOHN WAS SO NICE AND AS YOU CAN SEE HERE HE BENT OVER BACKWARDS TO DO ANYTHING FOR PEOPLE THAT CAME UP TO HIM JUST DID NOT MAKE SENSE THAT ANYONE WOULD HURT HIM. JOHN HINKLEY DID EVERYONE A TRAGEDY BY SHOOTING HIM. JUST REALLY BOGGLES MY MIND. IN THIS IT SOUNDS LIKE MIKE'S VOICE HERE TALKING TO JOHN

I think it's one year before (the 17 th october 1973) because Mind Games was released on november 1973

Being a kid growing up in NYC, I visited this zoo often. Im glad they changed the environment for these animals. Animals being locked in cage was horrible. Its also nice to see the REAL Lennon, happy and healthy without his handler Joko Ono!
