    Whats up fight fans, welcome back to a (kind of) new video!
    This was shot 4 years ago when we were approached by Tibi Moravik from Systems of Motion to show us some insights into Systema, a form of russian martial arts that for years has had a terrible reputation for being totally useless!
    He demos the fundamentals of punching with brad and some sneaky little moves you may be able to add into your own game!

If you know anyone or are someone that wants to come and film with us and go over your martial art then hit us up on Instagram 👍🏼

    If Tibor was showing the same stuff, and people weren't aware of Brad's credentials, i suspect the comments section would look very different. You see that in the comments section in Steven Strangles People and McDojo videos where they criticise systema without having the slightest exposure to the art or done any real research on it. (i don't want to give attention to these guys, because i find it reprehensible how they badmouth top exponents of systema like Ryabko and Vasiliev, which only highlights their ignorance). It's quite telling how people yield to authority (the influencer producing the video) and then at the same time congratulate each other about how they're being sharp and critical thinkers, and meanwhile the people practicing systema are gullible members of a cult. If those people had ever met Ryabko and got punched by him they would have forgotten their names and their address. It's easy to criticise a drill on the screen, is what i'm saying. Apply the socratic method if you're interested in the truth. And if you're curious enough, go and test it. But remember like in any other art there's good systema instructors, average and of course bad ones too. I'd recommend Martin Wheeler and his teacher, Vladimir Vasiliev (more accessible in the west) and Valentin Talanov and Arkady Kadochnikov.

    I Love the breakdown of this work. Well guys. Systema gets bad rap because is very broad with application outside of self defense or fighting system. I came across systema in 2004 and it became addiction for many years and by now it is my lifestyle. Many camps, seminars, I even got to meet Michael Ryabko RIP. I use parts of it everyday of my life. Can I defend myself?… I would say much better then prior to starting to train. Russians did well putting this thing together. Though many Russians when asked have no fuck’n idea about systema existence. Most of themself have never heard of it because systema is more popular outside of Russia then in Russia.

    MMA although very dangerous is mostly for sport and to put on a show. Cause if there's no show, nobody will come to see anything. Systema is not for sport and much less to put on a spectacle or show. In fact Systema is rooted in the foundation of breathing and healing the body to regenerate as quickly as possible so that one can live as well as protect others in real life dangerous situations. If you learn Systema truly and deeply, you're not really going to be a good MMA fighter because Systema trains one not to put on a show so that no-one can see one as a threat in a real life. In fact a true practitioner of Systema trains to be a "solution" in real life and not a problem at all.

SO DONT MAKE ANY EXCUSE, if it cant prove itself in the cage, it is bullshido. The only way a martial art wont work out in MMA is when the martial art could not take the opponent out, dont say some shit like put on a show since BJJ still work in MMA though no one love grappling, MMA is simply just a place to prove if a martial art work or not

    As a combatives guy I found the video from years ago interesting, and today's video a little more so. I remember talk about the seminar style display of martial arts can lead some astray. I can't take a 100 lbs woman and have her beat Brad in a life time, much less a few hours on a weekend. And forget getting partners to let me use open hand techniques in sparring. Fairbairn's stuff makes great supplemental techniques for other foundations and most military combatives are meant to either be quick lessons in disabling the enemy, or get a guy with a gun some aggression and confidence in one's self for battle. I get the same vibe from systema on this and a few other videos. Some of it might work, but it's meant a guy try to last long enough for his buddies to come with rifles.

  • @mdomans
    @mdomans Год назад +3

    I will reiterate that it's not how silly something looks or how deadly an attack is - arguably, if I carried around a spear, that's way more deadly. The basic argument is aliveness - if your art contains the practice of sparring, testing under pressure, and people actually wanting to hurt each other to a degree - that's how you develop martial prowess. BJJ is so good regarding self-defense, not because pulling guard in the street is the way to go but because you can have two 100lbs girls going at it like angry lynxes after 12 months of training, which translates to their defensive capabilities. The same is valid with wrestling or judo - I heard countless stories from bullshido specialists about how judo or wrestling doesn't work "on the street" because they don't teach striking and only train on silly soft mats and only do stuff in silly garments and don't poke eyes and rip the crotch, right? For me the basic test of "is Systema BS" would be Brad doing friendly, 20% mma rules sparring with the Systema guy and have Systema guy try to pull those funky moves. What leglockers did when everybody was saying leglocks are bad for MMA - they went to leglock people in MMA and we learned fast that some positions suck for MMA and some are good.

    To the haters, there's a reason the man who trained the Secret Service is a Systema guy (Martin Wheeler). The guy I trained with was a pupil of his and once told me Systema is not for fighting. If you take it into a ring with rules, you'll likely lose. It's a system for staying relaxed and surviving. If you have to use it in the streets, you have a huge example. Particularly if you're smaller than you're opponent.

    Just FYI systema has a tonne of different interpretations but they should share one similar concept: LOTS of strength training, and lots of conditioning. This guys in the video is doing what a lot of schools have done which is bypass all the basic training and get into movement. I think (like many other gave as a response in this video) there is somethhing to use in any martial art. Just don't confuse martial art with combat SPORT. In sports there are rules, meaning you just can't do certain stuff. So if you think something is BS, you might wanna think about the application. What is it for? How does it benefit you? This counts for many things that also apply in traditional martial arts. I mean, you ever seen someone do a kata series in an MMA game or just sparring? Or use it in the streets?
