Was lucky enough to do an 8 day spotting trip to Moscow in 2004. Still 90% Russian built airliners then. A few Boeings and MDDs mainly Aeoflot but very few other carriers with western built aircraft. Had the pleasure of flying on a Gaspromavia Yk42 from Vnukovo to Saratov and back. Great times.

Then our 'brilliant' reformers like Gaidar said 'why build complex goods when we can just sell oil and buy them abroad?' 30 years later and we have almost no civil airliner industry left and government officials are talking about scavaging leased Boeings and Airbuses which can't leave the country lol.

В развале виноват один человек, который играется в солдатики. Не все самолеты можно было спасти, ибо экономические показатели никто не отменял. Ил-96 так же не актуален, как и стал А380. Современный самолет - это продукт международной кооперации, ни боинги ни эирбасы не делает единолично только одна страна, в их производстве задействованы десятки стран. Кстати, была задействована в том числе и Россия. Хороший самолёт у нас уже был на подходе, МС-21, и если бы не засидевшийся автократ, то самолёт бы уже давно летал. Теперь не раньше 25-го года и уже не в том кол-ве. Начать штамповать Ил-ы и Ту-ки мы тоже не сможем в больших кол-вах, и не сможем моментально выдать даже такие устаревшие модели. И надеяться на то, что в условиях изоляции мы уж наконец-то сделаем свою авиацию глупо, за 20 лет в тепличных условиях не смогли, сейчас тем более не сможем. Чудес не бывает. Радует только одно, люди смертны, это закончится. Тушки и Илы были хороши для своего времени и для экономики того периода, сейчас это уже просто ретро-техника, которая не модернизировалась уже десятки лет.

Это всё равно что мечтать чтобы вновь стали производить 737-200 или какой-нибудь Тристар, или ещё какой-нибуль старый дуглас.
Two things very consistent about Russian airports and air bases. One, the uncut grass and weeds growing through the cracks in the concrete. Two, unlike American airports, the planes taxi FAST! 😉😂

Obviously a lot of aircraft that I'm not that familiar with like the TU-52, VC10, and the jet with the window on it's nose (TU-134 idk) Also, I think the IL-86 is the only wide-body jet ever to have low-bypass engines.
Not a lot western models yet at Moscow airport in this video, it's kind of a shame that Russian built airliners weren't very competitive in the western market think of how deivise airports around the world could be today.
I miss the days where every russian airline had one of the big russian three aircraft manufactures.. its a shame they got drowned out by the western aircrafts like Boeing and Airbus
