Hi Brittany, I watched this and another of your commonplace notebook setups and yours is by far the easiest one to follow and makes the most sense. You've inspired me. I stopped commonplace journaling many years ago because they eventually turned into big scrapbooks but I'm giving your method a try. Thank you for these tips and keep the videos coming. :) Best of luck and God bless you! 🍀
I love this and I love the way you break it down. I had a notebook when my husband had surgery that was on this line. So much was being thrown at us so fast that I could not keep track of it so..... I bought a notebook and wrote everything.... it really was my brain most days. I will be following you to see how to keep one for my own mental health and self-reflection. thank you.
This is a great idea! A commonplace book specifically for medical info. In stressful situations it can be so hard to keep track of what you've been told and what happens next, etc.
I was able to start my very first commonplace notebook easily because I took notes on your method and by the time I was ready to begin it was easy to set up and the system ended up working perfectly for me. Thank you so much for taking the time to make this guide. It was so helpful! ❤
Great tips on how to color. You inspired me to try another budget friendly method. I have a stencil with small circles and I used my colored gel pens to simulate the stickers.
Great point about the accumulation of tabs - I tried that, and things got a bit . . . visually cluttered for me. Presenting the various methods and their pros/cons was very helpful. Cheers!
Thank you for your videos - I just started my commonplace notebook and find them to be very helpful! I just heard you say that you like to use the frixion pens - I just want to tell you that they can fade over the years. I dug up old notes of mine from over 5 years ago and they were almost not readable anymore. I had to rewrite the page. They can also fade if getting over 70°C that's the thing which make them erasable, bc that temparature results of the friction when you rub the writing with the eraser tip. Sorry if my english is bad and many greetings from Germany
You’re welcome! Yes, I know about the fading problem with Frixion pens. I mostly use them in my planners, which I’ll eventually toss out. I haven’t used them in any of my commonplace notebooks or journals that I plan on keeping longterm because of that problem.
@@PlanYourOneLife as long as you are aware and use accordingly my mind is at ease ^^ Just wanted to tell you because ist was a mild shock for me when I discovered it then
@Beli_ ☺️🤗Aww, hugs. I was lucky. Someone told me when I first started using them. But, if I had I written some important notes and memories and then found out; I would have devastated. ❤️
Thanks for sharing your tips and advice! Love the idea of color coding. I was thinking about a commonplace notebook after seeing different videos here on RUclips.
These were really good and it’s giving me ideas for my setup. I have to go back and watch your other video that shows how to spice up your notebooks with script too. I love you referenced the commenter from the video about the page dude to write on. Classy response and great tip!
Hi this will be so helpful both as organization for work goals and personal. What is this grid notebook and where can I find it. Dot grid works too but this one looks perfect and I see it fits in a cover (where is that found in your links). Thank you! As I age this might be just the helper I need!!
Hi, great tips. Now I have to set up one for work. I like how thick the cover is on the notebook. Where did you purchase the notebook from? I miss our Zoom calls. Please bring them back.

First I wanted to say I have been enjoying your videos. I have a question about notebooks. I really like your method of organizing your commonplace books. Are you are of any notebooks that have rules lines for writing and also the vertical lines you add for the titles and stickers of your entries? Any suggestions are appreciated. Thank you for taking the time to read and hopefully respond.
@@PlanYourOneLife I was asking if anyone makes the notebooks with the vertical lines already printed. This way I wouldn’t have to add them like you do. Sorry for confusing you!
Hi, Brittany, very helpful video as I'm starting my first commonplace book. A much more straightforward layout than some I've seen that hopefully will work for me. I have a question though (maybe a stupid one!): having decided on the colour-coding for the categories - I have 5 - is there a quick way to find them in the book or is it just a matter of flipping through the pages for the relevant colour-coded item?
I just flip through my book. If you want to find something more specific, then it would probably be better for you to have an Index. I explain the difference between an Index and a Table of Contents in the beginning of the video. Hopefully, that helps you.
@@PlanYourOneLife It does, thank you. Simply colour coding makes perfect sense. I may resort to an index as well, we'll see how colour coding alone works out.
I just write in order. I left pages at the front for an index. The index goes like this: QUOTE_name of quote, page # POEM_name of poem, page # JOKES_various, page #
I'm glad to hear that you found an index that works for you. I have changed my index to meet my needs over time. My current index is actually more similar to yours. ☺️

Wow, I’m glad to hear that! 🤗
Love these tips. I have some journals I haven’t used and believe I will turn one into a commonplace notebook.
Awesome!

I love the color organization idea! Absolutely love it! 😍🎉
Best outlay that suits my brain visually and makes sense to me 😂 including table of contents / index. Thank you for sharing
These are great tips Britt. I think your writing is perfect. Good idea for the text/title setup.
🥰Thank you!
I love the title on the outside so you can do a quick flip and see where all the notes are quickly.

I was a little confused by your question. I hope this answer helps you. The title of each entry is written on the side of each page.

@@Adam_Oden Oh! No, I haven't seen any notebooks that have them pre-printed.

are commonplace books done by the year or just when they're full?
Most of the time, it's when they are full. But you could create one for each year if you want to.
Thank you so much for answering ☺@@PlanYourOneLife

Do you really enjoy stationery? I’m looking to give some away that I’m not using.🙃
Yes, I do. I'm particular about what I use. If you want to send it to me, my address is in my description box. I would appreciate it.
