I have a few tools from Klein but my favorite is the D213-9NE-CR Lineman's Crimping Pliers with the yellow handles! Beefy and great for twisting wire and cutting wire too! I love your videos!
Man, hey Doc. I worked for Home Depot for years. And that really pissed me off, hearing about those tool boxes sitting in the rain. They often assemble tool boxes, lawn mowers, grills, and so on, out in the garden area. But why the hell they were left to sit in the rain, well that's just beyond me!! Probably a lazy ass manager. Or a GM that doesn't have a glue what's going on in there store. But it could be one of a million reasons why. But it shouldn't happen. And they definatly should be sold at a discounted price since it did!! Alright, y'all watch out so I can, climb down off my soap box!! Anyhow, I digress. Thanks for another great video Doc, Take it easy.
Super content all year, thank you. I hope you have an enjoyable and peaceful Christmas and New Year with perhaps a few surprise tool gifts from the big guy in red.🎅🏻
That Ideal tools from Sycamore Illinois, SK tools. Picked up multi meter, screwdriver set, angled head diagonal cutters, ideal tool bag. Lowes in my area has reset to Ideal tool area to Kobalt tools, even Fluke got pushed out. Make sure you see American Flag on Ideal packaging, if not made in China.
Knipex also got the fire sale treatment. To me it seems they want stuff that sells sells sells sells. Buy big lots to score a great price, push it out ASAP. More premium offerings don't sell like that because many pros don't go to big box stores, they'll go to their specialty supply who also has the tools. The bulk of big box customers are random members of the public who don't want the premium option, they want the cost effective option. Also Ideal Industries is headquartered in Sycamore which is why they list that city. Doesn't mean SK made it. Screwdrivers were likely Pratt-Read before they got shut down, pliers likely WF before they got the same treatment. Around the time those shutdown is when MIUSA Ideal started shriveling up.
South Texas city along the border. Lowes: mine is phasing out Ideal tools, on clearance are made in China. Klein is both in a huge section in the tool dept. and making its way to electrical, next to Kobalt tools. Home Depot: mine has no clearance-priced items in this category. It still has some Commercial Electric products. It has more Klein tools for working with phone wires, data cables, and TV cables. In electrical dept. more Klein tools alongside Commercial Electric and Milwaukee tools. It is also putting Milwaukee tools next to Husky in the plumbing dept. Merry Christmas
the home depot by me always has their tool boxes left outside in the rain. rows of them with rust & warped tops etc… just throwing money down the drain. i would not buy one from them at all unless it comes boxed. from what I heard Home Depot is going to stop carrying Klein
The Klein section is tiny at “my” HD but the rest of the shelves are mostly empty with a few Milwaukee tools and a lot of empty price tags.. I wonder if they are just dealing with Klein while the big red ramps up production?… they did have new displays from Klein in the middle of the store but with “promo/featured” items.. they haven’t gotten more of the standard pliers or maintained the shelf space, but who knows… it would be nice if they were in both stores with all the regular tools/needs.
I have a similar small ChannelLock adjustable wrench. It's at the top drawer of my roll cart and gets used all the time. It's great for grabbing a nut opposite from a bolt, and also has markings for measurements in SAE and Metric so I can quickly measure axle nut sockets or large fastener heads before grabbing the correct socket first time.
I was at my Home Depot and was told that they were phasing out Klein tools, selling off the existing stock. I haven’t checked out the web site. I picked up a multimeter and some of the colored tote bags. Nothing was discounted, but stock was low. I don’t like to shop at Lowes, so if Klein is indeed going there instead of Home Depot I’ll be disappointed.
Hey doc I was told by the Klein family and representatives of Klein tools that all of klien tools new or old (stuff already made here in the USA) are and will be made here in the USA every freaking tool down to the last grip on the handles to the sharpest cutting blades on strippers, scissors, linesman pliers what have you. No more tools will be made in Taiwan 🇹🇼, China 🇨🇳, Vietnam 🇻🇳, Indonesia 🇮🇩, Japan 🇯🇵, or like countries. All and every tool that says Klein will be made here in the USA.
Hello Doc. Merry Christmas. Do you have any of the adjustable wrenches where the jaw can be removed and turned around making the tool into a pipewrench? I have a couple of them including Chinese made Crescent. The Crescent wrench is part of a set that includes a set of pass through sockets.
They havent been officially released yet. They were accidentally released, then they were recalled. Someone online said they are doing a big release of klein items for 2024, including the new pass thru sets
Seems like Ideal may be encountering some hard times. SK just sold to great star, their own branded tools have been evicted from lowes. I'll have to research if anything else has happened with them recently
I think they may just be looking to exit hand tools and focus on wiring connectors. They also owned and closed down both Western Forge and Pratt-Read, too.
@@AToolWithTools ok ya those were the other things, If I'm not mistaken ideal only owned a minority interest in SK but I could be wrong, the story I remember is they were annoyed that ideal want investing enough money into them to actually do significant r&d and bring new products to market but I could be completely off base I am not on the inside
Love the 27-in-1, but I wish the bits were compatible with their other precision drivers. Having the larger driver to hold all the different bits for itself and the smaller drivers would be super useful. But no, Klien doesn't do that, instead they continue the each driver needs a different bit type mindset.
@@123kdljfdl7 I wish. The klien 4 in 1 electronic screwdriver takes bits that are slightly longer and a have a ball detent, instead of a magnet. The 27in1 bits kind of sit in the 4in1, but they don't lock in and sink too low to be useful in most cases. The 14in1, which I don't own, appears to be short bits, but also with a ball detent and those bits will be sized specifically to the nut drivers built into the shaft. The All in 1, another I don't own, uses a extra long single sided bits, while they may be interchangeable with the 27in1, they won't go into the driver's storage. I do see the utility in having an extra long bit for some electronics, as the driver shaft may hinder access (hasn't been an issue for me, but I'm sure it comes up somewhere). While having multiple options is overall a good thing, they do lack a cohesive system of precision screw drivers. I would prefer to see 1 standard bit type across the line up of different sized drivers, with a few special cases for things like the 14in1 driver with multiple nut drivers built in. That being said, I absolutely love the 27in1, 90% of them time I run it as a nice slim P2 driver, but its gotten me out of enough jams with the tiny hex and torx bits to make it work every penny.
Isn't Lowes closing a number of stores? Trouble in bricks and mortar land with a number of standards that have been around a long time shrinking their foot prints. The big shift to online finally taking its toll.
The red plastic dipped handle adjustable wrench is made in Spain and all pliers and standard screwdrivers wrenches and sockets are still made in America the newer impact bits and nut drivers are foreign made lowes dumped ideal because the Klein exclusive contract ended with Home Depot and ideal quit making pliers in America it’s all Chinese now
I bought those Klein blunt nose scissors you featured in an earlier video and holy Moses they are built like a tank. No wonder they cut so well.
A tank is a good comparison!
Thanks to you, Doc….I just scored the stainless steel wire strippers for $5! Outstanding. 🎉
Score!

Pittsburgh pry bar. Over lump of coal. That was great DOC Nice Vid.
"Red, White, and Crome Vanadium" 😂
Sounds like the name of an ABSOLUTLEY EPIC tool-centric rock ballad.
Also, Merry Christmas & thanks for all the videos, Doc! I always enjoy seeing that Last Best Tool uploaded.
I am still buying Klein stuff from Home Depot online. When the package comes the box has been shipped from Klein Tools directly not Home Depot.

The orange handle tools are insulated, for live voltage work. The screwdrivers hold a better tip than kleins other drivers in my experience

Same as the Lowe’s where I live at! All the ideal stuff is gone, Fluke as well. It’s nothing but Kobalt & Klein

That’s a good price for the Klein insulated screwdriver set.
The ideal stuff was being clearanced at
My Lowe’s at the end of the summer. I picked up some nice screwdrivers for a good price.
Happy Christmas doc. Thanks for all the excellent reviews
Merry Christmas Doc
I don't care who makes the tool. Is it a good tool? ok I will buy it.
I would take a Pittsburgh prybar any day.
Scored a whole rack of Knipex wire strippers at Lowe’s for $15 each yesterday…merry Christmas to me🎄

they added a whole new klein section at my lowe’s where the ideal stuff used to be
Great video Doc. Have you seen the pass through Klein set at Lowes? Cannot seem to find the larger version. Seems to be a Lowes exclusive.
They havent been officially released yet. They were accidentally released, then they were recalled. Someone online said they are doing a big release of klein items for 2024, including the new pass thru sets
Knipex pliers have made the crescent wrench obsolete.
