    After watching your videos, and after over 200 hours in the game, finally decided it was time to remove system assists and go for some real laps. Its feel so great. After your video on tuning the natural frequency, my road cars feel 10x better than before and I can actually do laps without crashing out. Tweaking the transmission on my cars is my next step and this video has helped so much. You have yourself a new subscriber!

    After watching your video for tuning rwd cars for beginners, I was finally able to properly set up my 370z and set its best lap time at Tsukuba Circuit. Then I followed your tuning guide for transmissions and beat my personal best lap time at Tsukuba! My 370z feels like its finally awake. Great tutorials! Definitely subscribed for future content. Keep up the good work!

    I also would like too ad for the escudo gto swap, depending on track set up. You can lower the torque accordingly to some what alter the turbo lag thus improving all around acceleration and track times. Glad to have found your channel old chum you explain the tuning aspect far better then I would even attempt, that said I look foward to more content. Cheers 🥂

    I feel like with a lot of the cars I've tried to fine-tune, I've noticed the speed listed on both individual gears and the general "top speed" slider aren't quite the peaks that they will reach. They may have fixed that with a patch, but I remember a lot of cars I tinkered with on the Daytona oval would hit the rev limiter in their final gear before the MPH listed on the last gear.
    I've checked out a few videos so far and it's a really well-done series! Nicely done.

    To add on to this:
    For an optimal gear shift, the power at the RPM you shift at and power at the RPM where you 'land' at in the next gear should be the same.
    If you have more power at the 'landing' RPM of the next gear than the at the RPM of the starting gear, that means you should've shifted sooner at a lower RPM.
    If power is lower at the 'landing' RPM, then you should stay in the original gear for longer; if you're hitting redline in the original gear, the gear spread is too wide.
    Obviously some engine/trans combos will be non-optimal compromises, like the Escudo V6 & 5 speed mentioned in the video. This advice is also suited for middle gears and acceleration, as 1st gear has different priorities and gearing for top speed runs may have a slightly different philosophy.

    and here i thought i had tuning kinda figured out😅
    i always use custom manual, usually just auto set the gearing depending on hp, and track style. for technical, twisty courses, i lower the setting, and vice versa for tracks with long straights. ive played around with ind. gears, and noticed some differences, but, tbh, i dont need to be an engineer, i just drive and customize.

    Amazing and helpful video, as per always. THANK YOU!
    One bonus note… I *think* (… and I really think I need to double check this) that another difference between customizable manual transmission and customizable racing transmission, is that customizable manual transmission allows for the use of a clutch if you have one in your simulation rig/pedal setup…
    Cheers!

    Quick question what’s the difference between torque and power? I’m sorry if it’s a dumb question, I understand that torque sorta means its ability to pull something well but do I need to worry about where I’m making peak torque

    • @fossilfueled27
      @fossilfueled27  4 месяца назад +6

      To oversimplify, torque has more of an effect on wheelspin and acceleration, and power has more of an effect on top speed and general pace. Usually a car with high power and low torque is easier to control, but slightly harder to set up gear ratios for (older VTEC Hondas for example). A car with high torque is more likely to wheelspin and lose control, but the gearing doesn't affect it as much.
      In the real world, we usually like cars with more torque (big diesels, muscle cars, high-power teslas etc), but in GT7, when we upgrade cars, the torque figures can go too far, so you usually find cars with low torque nicer to drive. With gearing I'd just prioritise power, because usually torque is peaking just as power is starting.

  • @pasteghost428
    @pasteghost428 4 месяца назад

    1:36 another difference between manual and racing transmission...if you're playing with wheel and shifter, the manual trans will make you have to use your clutch and h pattern shifter while the racing trans takes away clutch and shifter, using paddle shifter only.

    Yo can u help me tune some cars for the nurburgring. I always make my cars slower than everyone else when i try to tune each individual gears top speed. I use shifter so i always use the manual transmission

    • @fossilfueled27
      @fossilfueled27  12 дней назад

      I'm assuming everyone else is using the race transmission, which will make them faster. It's not possible to be as fast with the manual transmission, even in PP-limited races you're at a disadvantage.

  • @infiniteflightmultiplayer6722
    @infiniteflightmultiplayer6722 6 дней назад

    Do you set the top speed to 280 on all of the cars you tune or you just basically subtracted 30 from the initial top speed of the car which was 310. Thanks!

    • @fossilfueled27
      @fossilfueled27  6 дней назад

      It's different for every car. 280 isn't the top speed for the transmission. You need to go into individual gear adjustments and look at the number for top gear. That's the real top speed.

  • @MrInbetweens
    @MrInbetweens 4 месяца назад +3

    Correct me if I’m wrong but if you are racing in most cases BOP will be applied and everything goes back to stock. Also when you swap engines, the car can’t be used in races where BOP is applied also.

    • @fossilfueled27
      @fossilfueled27  4 месяца назад +3

      BOP is only applied on daily races where you aren't allowed to make any tweaks to suspension, transmission etc. This is pretty rare since there's a large portion of the playerbase that play single player races which don't have BOP, or play in online lobbies without tuning restrictions.

    Trying to copy the tuning from a youtube video and i cant get the 2nd number where they have it. For instance if 1st is 3.179/82 i cant figure out how to get the 82 to the number they have

    • @fossilfueled27
      @fossilfueled27  Месяц назад

      You have to set the top speed before you go into individual gear adjustments. It's also worth mentioning that these values will all be different if your car doesn't have the same upgrades as mine did. Any engine parts that increase the rev limit will change the gear ratios.

  • @Matty_Ice87

    Why would anyone use the Fully customizable Manuel if it makes Changing gears slower by having that wait time between shifts?

    • @fossilfueled27
      @fossilfueled27  2 месяца назад

      Because it sounds cooler, and reduces the PP rating. If your build is all about top speed, a manual allows you to run more BHP. Plus, it's more realistic on older cars that never had sequential gearboxes, if you care about that sort of thing.

      @@fossilfueled27 it still exists in 7, at least something similar to it. Set the transmission to the stock one, then fully customizable again. Set your final drive all the way to the right (maximum), set top speed all the way to the left (minimum), and then use the Final Gear to set your top speed. I don’t know if it’s as effective as the older games but it does do a good job of quickly setting up a transmission from my experience using it.
