I feel the same. For my first birth my baby wasn't breathing for a short amount of time and they imidiatly took it to another room. I was fine besides some tear but mainly panicing about my baby. 30 minutes of waiting felt like forever until they brought him back and he needed to be monitored for his oxygen levels for some days. Things like this arn't easy and we shouldn't scare pregnent women but this isn't always this easy peasy process where everythimg goes as planned.

I would consider the birth of my son to have been on the easier and less painful side. My gynecologist said it was the most peaceful labor and delivery he's seen. When it was time to push, I was sleeping in between pushes. It was a completely natural delivery, nothing for pain or anything.
All that being said, just because it was easier than the experiences of some others, it wasn't EASY. It was 36 hours from the time my water broke due to contractions until my son was born. I had two second degree tears and I had a hemorrhage that wasn't discoverer until 4 hours after the delivery. I lost more than two liters of blood, fainted on the bathroom floor, then had to be rushed to the operating room (which meant being separated from my baby) and put under general anesthetic so they could manually remove the half liter of blood clots that were stopping my uterus from contracting. It took a month for me to not feel like I was going to faint every time I stood up. It was two weeks before I could carry my son up the stairs to bed.

I grew up swimming every moment I could, my hair was always wet. As I got older, I saw why some people didn't like their hair wet. Along with the valid issues for hair dye, people (women especially) spend SO much time and money on treatments, products and styling, of course they don't want to wreck it. In addition to personal style choice, there are protective hairstyles that water decimates. Just leave everyone else alone! They have their reasons, and it's none of your concern.

I find it such a red flag when a girl starts bragging about not being girly or like other girls, and I'll probably instantly make a mental note that this isn't someone I wanna be friends with.
I remember a girl in a discord server bragging about her hobbies not being "girly" IMMEDIATELY after I said I was interested in customising barbie dolls and it just got my back up. Also, one of her listed non-girly hobbies was video games. It was a server for a popular MMO. With about 50/50 male and female users. Girl, I like video games too! We all do, thats why we're here! You're not special! And look at that, I like allegedly "non-girly" things AND typical "girly" things! It's almost like I'm a full person with many facets!

    • @unicorn73212
      @unicorn73212 3 месяца назад +4

Yeah it's dumb to brag about it if she brags about things like this that could be why some guys see this type of behavior as a turn off because if she's becoming obsessed with it that's not healthy I don't like video games that much and I don't even like football that much either something is mentally wrong with her if she's copying men.
You can have hobbies but don't highlight these qualities as something that's different or unique about you if I really wanted to I could go get tattoos and have someone braid my hair into dread locks too but I don't like people staring at me so I prefer to blend in. Most recent statistics actually revealed that more than 50% of gamers are now women. Gamer girls were maybe a little different in the late 90s and early 2000s, but that's no longer the case.
And that's assuming you don't believe the statistics were skewed then by women not admitting to gaming because gaming was targeted at boys and men, and women and girls would've been playing with their brothers/boyfriends/spouses or borrowing their systems to play, plus not admitting to gaming because it was viewed as boyish or childish.
I believe women have always played video games about equally to men, outside of perhaps arcade spaces where some may have felt unsafe or awkward to go due to the heavy male presence. This was certainly true in the 70s and 80s when the hobby first came about, because at that time it was advertised to the whole family. After the video game market crash in the 80s, when the hobby almost died, advertising became more targeted in an effort to save it. It worked, but the effects of marketing toward boys, specifically teen boys, have lingered to this day and have caused certain guys to think the video game space belongs, or at least should belong, only to males, especially to teenage boys. And so, because of this perception, there are still women who think playing games is somehow unique/boyish.
Advertising continues to target men and boys with games. Just look at the RAID: Shadow Legends ads, and the disinclination of most game developers to include women protagonists in games with set protagonists. There are a few, but far fewer than for male characters. Ads usually star the male character when there is an option to choose. And when there is a set female protagonist, she's most often cisgendered and lesbian, or does not have any romantic involvement with anyone at all. I'm all for wider representation, but the reason that we don't see big-name developers put out video games with straight women as the set protagonist is because they don't want to make the male audience uncomfortable by having a woman be interested in men. The good thing that's come of this is that some of the lesbian characters are actually being represented better, like Aloy (who's an awesome character in general), rather than solely as scantily-clad objects of male prurient interest as they used to be. But straight women should also be protagonists sometimes, and they shouldn't be denied romantic interests just because it might give men strange pantsfeels or make them jealous (especially since over 50% of gamers are women!). And asexuals can certainly also do with more representation in general!

A few years ago a young woman I used to be friends with invited me to play D&D with her and her boyfriend's group because I had always wanted to play a pen and paper game and she didn't want to be the only girl in the group. But over time I started to feel like she kind of resented my more stereotypically female characters. As in: they cared about their family members, appearance, could be shy/insecure and also I almost always ended up being the party healer because nobody else would do it. While her characters were usually not typically attractive, independent, warrior ladies...at least on the surface because in practice her characters somehow always ended up playing henchmen/bodyguard of her boyfriend's character. Which I could have forgiven if her boyfriend hadn't been an annoying prick who always needed to be the strongest and smartest while also being extremely selfish and uncaring.

It's sad that objectifying people and s3xualizing people in public has been so common and normalized that even if you have positive intentions when it comes to complimenting people it can be so awkward because it's hard to tell if there are positive intentions to compliments or if there's something else going on because of people who just s3xualize people as if it's just a normal interaction it's ridiculous..

I really like your point about gossiping rather than deep conversations only happening with people you aren’t close to. It’s similar to how I feel about the “I hate small talk” people. Like I obviously get the distaste for superficial/general/maybe meaningless conversations but if I am not close with someone, small talk establishes a baseline and creates a path that leads to deeper conversations. Most people don’t like to parachute straight into a deep discussion of philosophical beliefs and niche interests without context from the other person.

Then, I got my ass handed to me by chronic illness and an undiagnosed spine defect and the sensory overstimulation of the world went through the roof. I just wanted things to be quiet, and eventually I couldn't even sleep.
This is why I don't understand cocaine.
People want to feel like that? 😂

Giving birth and carrying a child is fucking crazy. As a man, it baffles me how women just do that all casual like.

I in contrast live in ridiculously comfortable & colourful leggings. Saying that my favourite leggings have started turning up in op shops.
I also mum full time so comfort is my goal. And a contributing reason I stopped wearing skirts is my toddler hides in them. 😂

I would absolutely jump in the ocean every single day, no matter the temp... except every beach in driving distance has unsafe levels of E. Coli. If i lived on the East or West Coast instead of the Gulf Coast, you'd never get me out of that water. But having your entire digestive system purge every time you take a dip is not cool. That's not even taking into account the alligators...

My brain almost completely blocked out the birth of my first child because my epidural didn’t work and I was in so much pain. The only part my brain didn’t block out was the nurses telling me that if she didnt come out I would need an emergency c-section bc she was in severe distress. But sure, childbirth isn’t that bad 🙄

the girl's comment on tik tok about gossiping made me think of the million dating profiles ive seen that "hate small talk" or say "lets skip the small talk." like. how do you envision that going? forget talking about our hobbies, interests, favorite media, family and friends, etc. thats all small talk. i want you to tell me about the deep stuff. it basically becomes a litmus test for whether i want to even entertain a conversation with you 😂 like, why did your last partner break up with you and can i have their number to verify that answer? tell me in exact detail your religious and political opinions now, cause some of those are def gonna stop this conversation sooner than later. can you explain pascals wager and the no true scotsman fallacies to me? all important things that i DO want to know before pursuing a deep connection with someone but sheeeesh yall act like we cant just have a nice chit chat for the first date instead of a thorough vetting and exam

The thing with catcalling is that it's like being into /any/ degrading terminology-- it's actually fine and normal to enjoy it (nature or nurture irrelevant) but you cannot expect that to make it acceptable as a public practice. Lots of women have cnc (consensual non consent) fantasies but don't tell other women to "loosen up and enjoy it" because they know it's a personal and private preference. It sounds like that commenter has either zero self worth-- or is simply into kink and instead of being an adult and doing any amount of introspection she's projecting. The thing about self love and acceptance is that once you truly find it you genuinely stop caring what anyone else is doing. Comments like that are just a giant red flag that a person is in denial about who they are and it's frankly sad.

Hello, I am a guy. I grew up in a "men can't cry" household, and connections are not easy for me. I will say this is true, my current, longest-lasting friend ship is only a year. I do not feel connected to this person, though I know they rely on me, and they are honestly the only person I plan to stay long-term buddies with.

The thing is, as a kid, we see "Not like other girls" as having our own thoughts and feelings. As young girls look at media, they see women being portrayed as fragile and loving pink. Being "not like the other girls" is desirable because they want to be seen as someone with thoughts.
And then they grow up and realize that, no, they weren't like other girls. And some girls are okay with that. And others are not and go absolutely insane about it.
