      @@je9732 yes that is normal for those lots of ether to get heat built up in the cylinders. they run so much boost they are built with low compression.

    Amazing. Well them motors are way decompressed funny they even fire.. well don't. On fuel. Till heat built a bit. Mine is a bit touchy .. and it is "farm stock".😁

    Sorry never actually run a diesel on ether only to start what if engine heater was plugged in heated up

      It wouldn't matter on this engine. It's a competitive sled pulling tractor, the block is solid with no cooling passages (I think, could be wrong there). These engines run obscene levels of boost pressure and at a very low compression ration, they physically can't start on their own when the engine is cold hence the huge quantity of ether shoved down this things throat. The trucks that are used in the high levels of sled pulling are the same way, but they don't require as much ether to get going due solely to having smaller engines.

      bc ether has lube in it

      The JD ether has upper cylinder lube in it, one of the reasons they all use it. And why JD themselves use an ether dispenser on some of their engines for cold climates.

      The engine rpm we turn and the torque output will damage an engine far sooner than ether will.
      All part of the program

      @@chucklohnes7652 yeah I’ve never seen it done so I didn’t know, ether is a last resort of last resorts in the diesel industry but I don’t know high performance warm up procedures but I imagine has something to do with compression/timing with very low boost. I know I wouldn’t fire up an engine very often that took a case of ether, that stuff isn’t cheap! Lol
