Those guys are awesome at Great Western. They have great prices compared to other competitors in NC. I currently ride a 2024 Ninja 500. Turned into a little touring bike haha. I threw 120s in the front and 160s in the back of some michelin road 6s and daily commuting and high speeds never been more comfy.
@@GhadSpeed Definitely planning on the speedy mile crushing I see. Nice choice. The 500 is a solid bike and you can definitely throw a slip on exhaust on that one for a good price. And BIG props to Great Western Motorcycles, too. Great people and much less markups than other dealers in the state.
I do love this color. I totally would have done the orange one (and almost did) but that purple messed it up for me. Not a Clemson fan. Here in the south, you know how we take our college football WAAAYY too seriously.

Nothing crazy, but still not fun to notice ya know. On really long rides I do tuck pretty low to rest up a bit. My only real complaint is probably my gear. It needs some "butt support". 😂😂
Looks great. At 56, I've been driving bikes since I was 8. Looking to buy a new bike in the next year and can't decide between the Ninja 650 and the z650 SE. Same engine, just a little different in scope for the ride. Looking forward to see how you tweek your ride.
The Z650 is a bit more affordable, easier to work on and tweak, and lighter in weight by a pound or two. All because of...less plastics. If you're not sure which one to get, think about what your intended purpose is. I could have went either way, but chose the Ninja 650 because of the additional front fairings to reduce buffeting when adding the taller windscreen. Since the seating position and rider aids are the same, and If you can easily handle a naked bike with the extra wind on you, but want the reliability of the engine, I would go the Z650. Best of luck on your decision and let me know which one you choose.
This was an excellent review and I see you did your homework on the Ninja 650! I've had mine since 2018 ( the rare Candy Electric Blue ) You've had about twice as many bikes as I had but I probably been riding a little longer than you. Started on my cousin's dirt bike at the age of 12 but got my license at 24 in (1985 ). I have no plans on modifying my Ninja because I don't like the way the exhausts sound with an after mrkt exhaust for one, and that's due to the 180 deg crank which emits a slightly different sound than a 270 deg parallel twin ( new GSX 8r, Aprilia 660 and Yamaha R7 ). But like you said that engine started out on the ER6, and is bullet proof, so Kawasaki won't mess up something that's been proven for yrs! I also own a 2023 CBR650 and just helped my son get a 2024 ZX4rr a few months ago. He bought his friend's 2009 R6 last yr, so we are going to restore it to show room condition w/ the original white color scheme that came on the 09's. I'll be checking your channel in the future since you did such a good job! 🦾

GREAT BIKE! My future son in law has it now) 2013 - 08 Harley-Davidson Road King (mainly to shut up the HD boys that I never had one. Very nice for long trips) 2023 - 23 Kawasaki Ninja 400 (sold July 30th this year to go back up in size. Moved out of Georgia to NC and I need long distance performance) 2024 - Current bike The 25 Kawasaki Ninja 650. I have had brief stints of riding the Indian Chieftain and Harley VRod anniversary edition as well but didn't really keep them long enough because I had offers from people to buy them and actually make a buck or two higher than what I paid so no complaints there. 👍 I do think louder pipes get you seen more in traffic which is not a bad thing. But I knew going in that doing it to this bike would just be wasteful spending. To be dead honest with you the main reason I started making these videos was because I really can't find a proper video out there about installing the windscreen that doesn't go into full detail of how to do it. That is a project I plan on doing very soon. I can't thank you enough for the comment and the future support. I would imagine that after I install the power adapter and windscreen I will be done with the initial changes I want to make to the bike so content may slow down.

My first bike I owned with a license was a 1985 Suzuki GSX 750 es 2nd 1995 Suzuki 600 Katana 3rd 1998 Suzuki 700 Katana 4th 2018 Ninja 650 5th 2023 CBR 650 ..the Ninja and CBR I still have and will keep both. My son has the other 2 bikes I mentioned earlier.. I'm currently 63 and retired early 3 yrs ago. But like you I tinker and more. My son has a large 2 car garage that can fit 2 cars and at least 7 or 8 bikes in it. And we currently have 2 JDM CARS ( 1987 Nissan 300 ZX and a 1993 300 ZX).. that we will be restoring for 'Cars & Coffee' events. The '93 is about 70% disassembled sitting on a lift. and the '87 is sitting as well. We are at a standstill as I am moving to the same town as my son, and all my tools etc are packed away currently. the plan is to finish both cars by late next spring/ early summer (in time for some car shows) Once the cars are completed, then I will start on his R6 which shouldn't take very long. When everything is complete I will leave a link with some before and after pics and pics of whatever events we enter ✌- Pops
@@PopsRacer61 Sounds like for a retired guy that you keep those hands busy! My wife and I rent where we are right now and we do have a two car garage....but it's not actually accessible. The landlord/owner uses it and has a good bit of stuff in it. However, the basement is rather large and suffices as my garage to store the bike in easily. Equally impressive resume on bikes as well. I did not ride from 1993 until 2006 because I was in the military and just didn't have a way to store it and didn't want it to sit up. Monday will be the first long-distance road trip on the new 650. About 7 to 8 hours to see my oldest son in southern Georgia. I am anticipating a great ride. Can't wait to see the progress of your projects as they come along. Stay in touch and stay safe! I've thought about possibly doing some moto vlogging, but not sure if there is an audience for that. I could definitely use opinions on that.
great video, I have the 21 model the crystal white color. Bought new in 2024 with abs and no TRC but I dont need it anyway (got a great deal on it since the dealer was no longer going to work with kawa and was just selling of their stock), so far so good, love the look and confortability. Tons of bike for the price, the only thing I wish was better was the sound. It doesnt sound as good as I would imagine. Or atelast they should have made it like 400 and made it so that u could install a slipon. Bc atm u need to change the whole exhust system.

Typically, I have ALWAYS modified my exhaust. My previous bike was the denim blue 2023 Ninja 400. Bought it July 1st 2023 and put a Leo Vince LV10 slip on on the bike the very next day! Shed weight and had a great sound for a smaller bike. I do agree that I wish the bike had a throatier sound, but with it being a solid, welded design, I just don't see the benefit for myself. The engine itself is darn near bullet proof and has been the same for what....like 20 years now? I knew what to expect when I got it. I knew full well it is a parallel twin with 180° crank and that modifying this particular model is pointless. Especially given the design and having to pretty much gut it to make the change. I'm actually a fan of louder exhaust systems. But...like I said I knew ahead of time what I was getting my hands on. KO actually makes what I think is probably the most affordable aftermarket exhaust system for it and it does produce a great sound. My main purpose for this bike is longer travel and crushing miles. My kids live 5 and 7 hours away and I've got well over a quarter million miles of riding under my belt in the 2 decades I've been doing it. And I'm not going to lie....if I could get a Gold Wing....I would! And ride that bad boy until the wheels fall off of it!
Awesome sauce, brother! I waited for this green color myself. The Furnace Orange/Royal Purple color and the KRT edition color did seem to ship faster to the states than the Old School Green. Not sure if it was a production thing or consumer response that made this particular color slower to arrive to the US. Perhaps I failed to mention that I was referring to this particular color that I bought the 3rd one of. Sorry if I didn't clarify that in the video. I would imagine that state of South Carolina is probably going to buy your color in droves. Especially those Clemson fans! 😂

@@devinspears1799 Hi Devin, No, there is no choke on the bike as it is EFI (Electronic Fuel Injection). There is, however, an idle adjuster on the right side above the oil filler to adjust the idle up or down. Nice little feature.
I'm going to buy this bike but maybe it's for 2026 because I'm still taking out my license, every year the colors renew because I really want it all black and I'm afraid that in 2026 this bike will not be available. because I don't want it second-hand.
@@jesicaav4661 There is an all black color for this bike, however, that particular color is WITHOUT ABS. If you are a new rider, I would highly suggest getting the ABS model because it is better to have rider aids like that as you learn. The black, non-ABS, model is less expensive, though. As far as availability, I don't think you'll have any worries. Kawasaki has been making the Ninja 650 for 20 years and they sell them in masse like they are 3D printing them!

If I were into racing or tracking my bikes then, of course, I would not have bought this. I prefer middleweights myself and I ride with the intent of crushing miles rather than bone crushing speed. Each rider knows what they want. And no...it's not my dream bike for touring. That honor goes to the Honda Gold Wing in my opinion. To each his or her own. With over a quarter million miles of riding under the helmet, I can promise you that I will put 50K on this bike and still never be disappointed or regret my decision to own it.

Calling these "junk" bikes makes you sound like an amateur/moron. the 650s are used in supertwin championships across the world and are some of the most reliable engines/bikes money can buy. @@Jaybone073 Haha yea, it's kinda nice bc they out themselves early so you can just ignore them. I rode a 16' 650 for 3 years before getting an FZ1. It was a great bike and never gave me any problems, up to 62mpg on road trips. Had a full exhaust and custom tune on it. By no means was she slow, and would hit 120 with ease. Who needs much more than that? Sweet bike tho, they just keep looking better and better.

But to respond to your comment, they've been making this engine for 2 decades and it's darn near bullet proof.
I bought this because all of my family members that I see often as I can live a minimum of 3 hours away and it's almost all highways without much open road or back road Twisties. I bought it as a true commuter bike and for longer highway travels.
I also agree that comparing this bike to inline 4 bikes was pretty pointless. It's like comparing a Chevy Cruze to a Corvette.
But this is the internet.... There's always going to be "that guy" in your comments.
@@Jaybone073 Haha yea, it's kinda nice bc they out themselves early so you can just ignore them. I rode a 16' 650 for 3 years before getting an FZ1. It was a great bike and never gave me any problems, up to 62mpg on road trips. Had a full exhaust and custom tune on it. By no means was she slow, and would hit 120 with ease. Who needs much more than that? Sweet bike tho, they just keep looking better and better.
