I love watching tourists. The head straight forward, going from one site to another. Thing is, if you slow down you see the real cool stuff that exists between the spots.
The place is flooded with tourists right now looking at this video. Great for the locals mate. The pandemic is long gone and recovery appears complete. Chiang Mai is a must go for anyone from abroad, probably the 5th most popular place to visit after Bangkok, Phuket, Pattaya and Koh Samui and the most popular up North for those that want to venture up there. Pleased that the air is pretty clean still. Hopefully it stays that way for your next adventure. Cheers Wayne 🤩
I really like Chiang Mai, where I live, Geraldton Western Australia yesterday was the hottest town in the world. 46.5C. At my friends farm it was over 50! My wife and I will be off to Danang in May for our 43rd wedding anniversary. Loving life. A good wife really helps!!
Bought 2 NMax from that Yamaha shop. No complaints about either the bikes or after service. Pleased to hear you're taking more rides out and about exploring our glorious northern Thailand, Wayne. Cheers.
Hey Wayne, nice walk with you a round ChiangMai! Enjoyed your video and wish you a nice evening 👍 I hope they will not change the city of ChiangMai, because it will lose the character and charm of it!!! Regards Udo with Beppa 🐕 Today from France 🇫🇷
Thanks! I don't think the traditional old city could be changed, but they could extend the city maybe, in the future. Hope life in France is good. (My favourite country)
That marijuana store you looked at, I went there almost every day. I ate dinner at that thai restaurant all the time and stayed at the hotel on that corner overlooking the intersection while sunday night market was happening. Oh man I miss it.
Nice one Wayne. Great walk and talk by the master. Looking forward to more travel vlogs from you. Agree with the Eastern European / Former Soviet countries. Best trip I ever did was several months going through as many of those countries as I could in mid 90s. Arshceptional ladies 👍 Take it easy.
Always fun to see a walkabout of the old city. FINALLY confirmed I will be there beginning on July 14th after many delays. It will be well after the burning season and I think it should be a little cooler then, eh?
Great video . Starting to become familiar with your city. I done several trips to Phuket and it’s still cooler than Darwin where I’m at the moment. I guess Chaing Mai could be refreshing. You mentioned Lithuanian lady’s they are very fair skinned like porcelain dolls . Much cooler over there spent a few months in the freezing cold . The 70s shop looks interesting. I was living in southern England at the time and nostalgia still kicks in . This shops is interesting I bet know one remembers the Isle of Wight pop festival . In chaing mai I guess you need a couple of things a reliable on line internet business and a nice squeeze .there is only so much delicious food you eat and I agree the cheaper places often have the best food because they want the business.falling off the pavements is a big hazard . Done the pavement dive in Pattaya. Must be careful of pavements and motorcycles when crossing roads. Big hazard for older people especially.
Thanks! Chiang Mai has been really manageable temps over the winter, it will start to crank up now though. The sidewalks are a big hazard, as you can see from the guy in this video. Thanks again.
Wayne have you not been down to the flower festival this weekend? its where the action is taking place full of people enjoying themselves may be a blog promoting this venue may encourage more tourists to town for next year. The air is good and no sight of any burning season happy days😊
No Peter, not sure if I'll be doing the flower show. If I did, it wouldn't be the first few days. I'm not sure about action, but it's certainly busy. Hopefully the smoke holds off for a bit longer. Cheers.
Just left the great place 2 days ago after 4 weeks of fun! A lot of it thanks largely to your vlogs Wayne which we sincerely appreciate! Great stuff and hope you continue to enjoy it for a long time my friend. Cheers, pw
I see your mate has gone to Ferrari. Great movie too. I heard Laos burning season has begun. Lucky your footy skills save you everytime there's an obstacle🤣
That news has shocked everyone! I can't believe Lewis will drive for Ferrari. I can't wait! I've not seen anything about Laos at the minute. So far, so good. My left winger John Barnes skills mate.
If you like your lobster, consider going to Bali. In particular, Jimbaran seafood market where you can get green wild caught lobster for IDR400'000 (THB900) per KG. Take it to a local beach side warung and they will cook it for IDR20'000 (THB45) per KG. Bobby Dazzler
I agree with the food I do three months uk and four months in Bangkok and quickly learned the nicest food was in the markets I like to avoid the tourist parts I like to live in Thai areas with the locals👍
That's right Dave, the cheaper food here is not much different from the expensive stuff. Can't go wrong with the market food. Locals areas are the best for me also 👍
we are a bit nervous as we are supposed to be in Chiang Mai Feb 10, for a week. But are concerned about burning season. We have an opportunity to change our plans and are unsure of what to do. We would be dissappointed if it was really smoky
Mate! I used to eat at a bunch of those places down the road from Fern Forest! Brings back great memories. Thanks for the tour, Wayne! I'll be back in October. Pattaya sucks.
Too many farangs (Russians), no culture or history, or temples, more expensive. I live in Jomtien, better than Central Pattaya but it's all just whores and day drinkers.@@stevecarr1992
@@WalkAboutWayne Yes! February-April 2022. I can't believe it's been 2 years! I'm finally really retiring at the end of this year, so maybe I'll come back a different time of year next time. I've been there in October too, and it was nice but incredibly hot.
The wall repair looks just as it did in October and November. But it looks like the finished with the utilities work in the lanes around the moat. I'm missing it . I'll be back before too long
Yes, not much has changed with the wall. Most of the roads around the moat have been done, they've move onto other parts of the city. Hope you can get back soon.
Wayne, what was the name of the first temple you stopped at in the beginning that you said was undergoing renovation? Is that temple a tourist attraction?
Visited Chiang Mai for a couple of days and the only thing i enjoyed was the cold mornings and evenings 😊 The city itself is nice, beautiful temples but it felt like i was walking around a popular European holiday destination with western chicks walking around half naked visiting the tempels 😂 It was packed everywhere with tourists that have zero clue how to "behave" around the popular places. Try that behavior at the temples in mainland Thailand and you will get a completely different treatment 😂 My lady was very shocked to see that 🙃 In the evenings we went to the night market at the University close to Malin Plaza. Good choice, cheap and very few tourist.
Do you call it Burning Season because that's when there is more risk of a sun burn? Do you you wear extra sun screen lotion during Burning Season? I hope you don't get a sun burn!
Last time I was there there were too many tourists IMO. Really effected the charm of CM. The last thing I'd like to see is a wdening of the roads. The superhighway is an ugly traffic sewer currently. An undrground/subway system might work but whoes going to coff up the money? The Songthaew mafia wouldn't take kindly to it either.
I agree, it's a city that looks better with the right amount of people. This place will keep getting busier. I wouldn't like to see the old city changed, but maybe on the outskirts. Good point on the local Transport.
I think it was the 28/29 were bad days for smoke, I could taste the smoke and feel it in my eyes, but the last couple of days have been good. My ex wife is Lithuanian/British. I never walk in thongs (aka Flip flops) that's asking for trouble.
I wouldn't say theirs been any really bad days really (yet). Had a few misty days and some light stuff. I was besotted with a Lithuanian girl once. This whole walk was done in flippys haha. Hope all is well buddy.
@WalkAboutWayne Yeah but I mean I can't see any in your video I can only see tourists? That's really unusual is it a hotel area? Whenever I've been in Chiang Mai everyone is regular locals.
thanks for the burning info.. didn't know about burning when in Puerto Rico--ruined my trip. Now I know what seasons and where in Thailand. thx.@@WalkAboutWayne

I love watching tourists. The head straight forward, going from one site to another. Thing is, if you slow down you see the real cool stuff that exists between the spots.
That's true, you see so much more when not looking for a certain temple or place.
Hi Wayne, should explore more countryside places like Mae Teang, Mae Rim, Sankhamphaeng and Banthi.
Already done all them places, many times 👍

Chiang Mai reminds me of Byron Bay in the 80s & 90s those were the days !

Hello Trevor, say hello to good ol' Bude for me.
Hey Wayne, maybe try out the bus lines in CM?
Hey buddy, The new bus route could be a vlog one day. I'm sure someone will do it though. Thanks
Wayne , What you don’t mention , is that a lot of the poor quality Air content , comes from burning in Laos and Cambodia
Peter Sukhothai
I've mentioned that a lot in previous videos, Peter, but yes that's correct buddy. The surrounding countries play a big factor also. Thanks 👍
Wayne, One request. When you go back to England take us with you. I believe all of your subscribers have make an investment in you and the channel.
For sure mate, I'm taking my subscribers with me wherever I go. 👍
Bude gets a little crowded high season nice though what do you say Wayne 😊
I remember Bude in the summer holidays, packed with holiday makers. I like Bude.
We go there in our caravan keep the van all year at Cornish Coast site Poundstock just off the A 39
Wayne, what was the name of the first temple you stopped at in the beginning that you said was undergoing renovation? Is that temple a tourist attraction?
This is the entrance to Wat Chedi Luang. Probably Chiang Mai's biggest tourist temple 👍
Give us your verdict on the new British fish and chip shop near taphi gate called The Gate
I just heard about this place a few days back. I'll have to give it a review soon.
Dog eat dog world mate, rookie ankle roll.
How bad does the AQI get there?
Really Bad in the worst of it.
I have been down to Pattaja Puket and Khoa Lak on this tripp but Chaing mai and Lamphun are better places to visit and live in.
I can't comment on the first 3 places, as I haven't been. But Chiang Mai and Lamphun are great places to live, I agree.
Where are you going Wayne to miss the burn

In the orange most days. The worst is still to come .
