Great job. A good upgrade would be to run an earth wire to the metal chassis just for safety, especially since this kind of lamp would suffer a lot of violence in a storm.

@@barrycashwell4066 i did look, and see no earth wire anywhere. Also, the mains wire inserted is clearly a figure 8 cable which has no earth conductor.

The live conductor should be to the centre pin, you don’t know with the cable used as both are black. The potential danger being that if the outer screw socket of the bulb holder is live, there is the risk of electric shock if touched when screwing or unscrewing the bulb if doing so with the plug in and turned on.

It's not a flicker light. Cameras will sometimes make it look like then when it isnt

What do you use vinegar and baking soda?
I normally use garlic, cloves, salt and lemon for my mudbugs.
Other than that, this whole "restoration" is bogus. The only thing old about this was the incandescent lightbulb

plastic has been around nearly 100 years...it's by no means antique...nor is t high quality like an old crouse hinds..but still a nice progect
Wrong plastic "plastic" was invented by a German alchemist in 1530. It was only after the Second World War that plastic became more common and it was not until the 50s and 60s that it became common in various products when it became cheaper to manufacture when oil was used in the manufacturing process. And in this type of lamp is NOT made of cheap metal and plastic, but of brass glass and porcelain. In addition, the video feels a little over-dramatized and not the least genuine.
